Chapter 47: Chapter 47. Entering the rank 1 gate.
The evening snow drifted across. The twin moons were starting to show themselves. But the high humidity clouded their visibility slightly.
The car pulled to a stop in front of the mall.
Everyone stepped out.
They walked into the mall.
The place was completely deserted.
There was no one there, except for some personnel from the Warriors Association who were currently guarding the gate.
Aiden and company proceeded towards the personnel.
The moment they arrived, a woman clad in leather jeans and sneakers stepped forward.
"State your business."
Luke replied, "We are the students from Derulo City University who took the mission to close the gate."
"Oh... alright, a minute."
She brought out a device and scanned them.
After that, she checked her phone.
"Confirmed." She looked at the other guards. "They are the ones who took on the mission."
"Why does the dude at the back look so familiar?" One of the guards pointed at Aiden. Aiden had his phone in a storage bag.
He was calm.
The other guards shrugged as they looked at Aiden. He looked quite familiar but they couldn’t place a finger on where they remembered him from.
The woman spoke. "Alright. You guys are free to enter the gate after we confirm again that it’s a rank 1 gate for the sake of formality."
The group nodded.
After that, the woman used a gate classification device to confirm three times that the gate was a rank 1 gate.
"Be careful in there. All the best."
The group nodded politely.
They entered the gate and disappeared.
"I knew he was familiar. He’s that kid. Aiden Vhorn!" One of the guards said after showing Aiden’s video to the others.
"The Crimson Reaper?"
"Yeah, that’s him. The fellow who caused a sensation during the monthly combat assessment of the university today."
"Interesting. How long do you think it will take for them to close the gate?"
"Only time would tell. Pocket worlds are dangerous and unpredictable environments. One can never know the kind of dangers they will encounter. I wish them the best."
"That’s true."

Meanwhile, outside the mall, two individuals were currently fuming.
Treehill and Hourglass.
The duo had teamed up.
They had been following Aiden Vhorn’s group from a distance.
They were expecting them to enter the danger zone so that they could kill Aiden Vhorn.
However, the group had actually taken on a rank 1 gate mission.
"We should have just launched an attack and killed them in the car," Hourglass hissed.
"Are you stupid? All those guys are from influential backgrounds," Treehill said. "Killing Aiden Vhorn would have led to no issues, because he does not have any influential backing. But killing those guys would have been our end.
This Aiden Vhorn is such a sly bastard. He knew we can’t enter a pocket world with him once the team for the pocket world mission is decided. Unless they don’t come out after two weeks, no group will be allowed to enter the pocket world. He took on a pocket world mission to buy time for himself. He had it planned from the start"
"Hmph," Hourglass snorted. "Let’s hope he dies in the pocket world. Even if he does not die in the pocket world, two weeks is a small time for him to become an advanced rank 1 warrior. What good will buying time for himself do for him? The time difference in a pocket world differs from ours. But I don’t think that’s enough time for him to become an advanced rank 1 warrior. Let’s return to campus. He will definitely return to campus if he doesn’t die. And he will take on another mission alone. Then, we can deal with him."
Treehill nodded. "Also, it’s not like we are the only ones who want to get rid of him currently. Some stronger societies consider him a threat and want to kill him too. But that does not mean we should assume they will get rid of him. We should take matters into our own hands. If they get rid of him before we do, fine. If they don’t, we will get rid of him all the same. I just hope he does not make it out of the pocket world in the first place. That will make things easier."
Treehill and Hourglass nodded to each other and returned to campus.
****
Aiden and the rest found themselves standing in a completely different environment.
Currently, they stood in a completely icy environment.
Surrounding them were mountains with towering peaks peering through the clouds. The skies were very misty and snowy. It was morning in this pocket world too.
The group was standing in some snow at the moment.
They were in a valley at the moment.
Everyone quickly equipped their battlesuit.
Aiden’s eyes turned crimson as his blood materialised and transformed into crimson armor, enveloping his figure. He looked no different from the rest in their battlesuits. It was just that his crimson armor looked quite eerie.
"Alright, before we proceed, we need to select a team leader so that coordination of activities becomes easier," Seraphina said.
Before anyone could even reply, she added, "I suggest Aiden."
Everyone nodded.
"Yeah. He’s the strongest among us."
"Definitely."
"He even played a very critical role in closing a special rank 1 pocket world. I think he’s the best person for the role."
"I agree."
"That’s better."
"What do you think, Aiden?" Desmonda asked.
"First of all, this does not mean I’m responsible for anyone’s choices or their life," Aiden said. "I’m only responsible for coordination and planning. If everyone is okay with that, I don’t have a problem."
He didn’t want anyone to think he was supposed to be a hero who would rush in to save them in moments of death at the cost of his life, just because he was the temporal leader of this team.
"Don’t worry, we can carry our own weight in case of emergencies."
"Yeah."
"Wouldn’t have it any other way."
"I’m up for it."
"Sure."
They replied.
"Alright, then," Aiden said. "We need a plan before we move."
