Chapter 656: Chapter 388: Looking for My Daughter

Lian Jin suddenly slapped his forehead.

"Right, I’ve still got a witness here, Xiaoshui... hey? Xiaoshui, why are you hiding so far away? Go bring him up!"

Yang Ruoyu slipped off like a flash and soon dragged over a short, stocky man.

Su Huan took one look and instantly grinned. "Last time that drink wasn’t enough fun, so you came back to mooch more booze off me?"

Jiao Ting gave a bitter smile and shook his head. This guy really knows how to hold a grudge—just because that one drink knocked him out twice... For that drink and that severed head, he absolutely couldn’t accept anything happening to Su Huan, so even though Lian Jin explained over and over that the two were friends, he still insisted on tagging along.

Seeing how Donghuang Heavy Industry and the Armed Train got along, he finally relaxed. Su Huan was clearly more capable than he’d imagined.

Behind them, the train door slid open. Under everyone’s puzzled gazes, a flesh‑colored Fungus Carpet rolled out of the carriage, clinging to the floor like Spider‑Man’s webbing.

Inside was a guy wrapped up like a mummy, with only two nostrils exposed. The mycelium slowly peeled away, revealing a pair of hopeless, numb triangular eyes.

It was the East City Association’s second‑in‑command, Longyan.

Seeing Lian Jin’s face look not so great, Jiao Ting’s heart jumped again. He probed, "Boss Lian Jin, is there some kind of misunderstanding here?"

Wei Dong’s eyes went red on the spot. He gnashed his teeth and snarled, "Misunderstanding my fucking ass! Boss Lian Jin, this is my sworn brother Longyan. He went out to collect supplies, took over a hundred people and seventeen vehicles, and not a single one came back. It was this bastard Jiao Ting bringing outsiders that got him killed!"

The crying was obviously fake, but the hatred he had for Su Huan was very real.

Afraid Lian Jin might reconcile with the other side, he forcibly painted Longyan as his "brother" and spun the whole thing into a blood feud.

Even if the two sides didn’t end up fighting, he still had to squeeze out some interest!

And as for this old dog Jiao Ting—once he had his hands free, he’d hang him under the floating island and sun‑dry him into jerky!

Wei Dong’s venomous stare made Jiao Ting’s whole body go cold. He could feel something was off.

Lian Jin didn’t listen to Jiao Ting, and he didn’t bother with Wei Dong either. His gaze stayed on Su Huan from beginning to end. "Old Su, what do you say?"

Su Huan’s expression turned subtle. All he’d done was beat the guy up a bit, and this brat really knew how to climb along the pole. But that little bit of goodwill wasn’t nearly enough to work on him; he actually wanted to see what Lian Jin was going to do.

So he gave a lukewarm smile. "Yeah... it’s not a misunderstanding."

Lian Jin’s face was dark, but when he heard that, he exhaled. "Good."

Jiao Ting’s heart sank, while Wei Dong’s face lit up with crazed joy. "Boss Lian Jin, he admitted it!"

The next second, he saw Lian Jin grab Wei Dong’s neck like catching a chick, then start kicking like mad. The guy whipped around in his hand like a rag, but up against an "Iron Fist" that was Tier Two, nearly Tier Three, this Tier One Evolver could only take the beating.

Bones cracked and shattered, blood gushed out of Wei Dong’s mouth and nose in a rush, spraying everywhere like someone had yanked open a fire hydrant.

Lian Jin kept kicking and cursing, "You flap your gums wherever you fart, and you butt in wherever someone talks! I’ve been sick of your face for a long damn time. You run around outside under my Donghuang Heavy Industry banner doing whatever the hell you want, and you still dare to cut into my conversation? Say one more fucking word, I dare you!"

"If people hadn’t stopped me, I’d have tied you up into a ’two plus one’ and hung you off the back of a five‑trailers convoy to feed the dogs, you get me?"

"..."

Jiao Ting wiped the blood off his face, stunned on the spot. He looked at Wei Dong, who now resembled a torn burlap sack in Lian Jin’s grip, and suddenly remembered what that long‑necked soldier had said: "If Donghuang Heavy Industry shows up, the conductor will explain things properly to them."

So this is how he explains it?

Who’s explaining what to whom here?

Wrapped up in the Fungus Carpet, Longyan showed zero reaction to Wei Dong getting worked over. His eyes were already empty and unfocused, deader inside than the road bait their East City Association used to lure zombies.

Only now did Jiao Ting belatedly look toward Su Huan. This pretty youngster was even more unfathomable than he’d thought.

Yang Ruoyu had the foresight to hide behind the conductor. Her fair skin stayed spotless, not a drop of blood on her, but Lian Jin’s style of cursing sounded oddly familiar.

She pulled out a little notebook and quietly jotted things down.

"...Leader, Lian Jin has grievances in his heart!"

On the other side, Su Huan frowned and waved a hand. "Enough. I get it, Donghuang Heavy Industry and East City Association aren’t in bed together. No need to put on a show for me."

Su Huan opened his mouth, and only then did Lian Jin reluctantly stop. He threw the barely‑breathing Wei Dong onto the ground and snarled, "This isn’t about putting on a show. This animal’s gotten a lot of people killed. If I didn’t need to question him in front of you, I’d have dumped him in a hole already!"

"Tsk tsk, like I’d travel all this way just to pick a fight with Donghuang Heavy Industry?"

Lian Jin’s heart clenched. If there hadn’t been some distance between them, the guy really might’ve already shown up on their doorstep. Lucky he came over first.

He chuckled. "Then I’ll help you deal with this one."

"No need. You can take this less‑than‑Tier One with you. Leave the Tier Ones."

Su Huan pointed at Wei Dong’s trusted men off to the side.

With just a few words, the two of them decided the East City Association’s fate, without even bothering to mention the faction by name.

The sight left Jiao Ting feeling pretty complicated.

But seeing things land smoothly also calmed him down a lot.

"You got anything else?"

Lian Jin straightened his suit and tried to hide his two exaggerated pecs a little. "Nothing."

Su Huan nodded slightly. "I actually do have something."

He didn’t drag it out. After that, he took Lian Jin and Yang Ruoyu over to the brickworks office. The three Tier Two Mao Bears from Gunfire made Lian Jin’s brows twitch.

Yuri didn’t show Su Huan a single pleasant expression. "The goods have already been looted. You here to deal with us now?"

Su Huan said calmly, "That batch of ammo was taken by strength, so why say I looted it? And the only reason you’re still alive is because of my mercy. When you get back, remember to pay it back, or I might come knocking to collect."
