Chapter 146: Her baby was all that mattered
Hana took a step back and it felt like she was standing on top of a wet surface because a ripple occurred.
She looked down and saw her reflection looking back at her. But more than that, her belly was flat.
"My baby," she breathed. Her hand flew down to her stomach, her fingers pressing firmly against her skin, searching for the heavy, hard warmth that had dictated her every movement for the past sixteen days.
There was nothing. Just a smooth, empty belly.
Hana, who had spent her entire life calculating her survival and ruthlessly prioritizing her own life above all others, felt a sharp, hollow ache pierce her chest.
She had come to cherish the child growing inside her. It wasn’t just a quest objective or a tool; it was her blood, her flesh, her absolute possession. Even with its volatile draconic traits, it belonged to her first and foremost.
Her panic lasted for a second before it hardened into a sharp, lethal rage. Her dark eyes snapped up toward the four silent structures, her jaw locking as her face contorted into a fierce, dangerous expression.
"What is this sick joke?" she hissed into the void, her voice dropping into a venomous, low rhythm. "Where is my baby? And what’s with these doors?"
The void remained entirely unresponsive. No system notification pinged. No mechanical voice offered a quest update.
Hana took a deep, steadying breath, forcing her heart rate down to stabilize her analytical processing. She looked from her flat stomach back up to the four sealed doors.
This was definitely not reality, but then, it felt so real that she could not brush it off entirely as a dream either.
If her physical body was currently in a state of deep sleep in the mountain cabin, then this environment was an internal construct—either a manifestation of the primal bonds or a hidden sub-routine of the system itself.
But even then, she could not understand what was going on.
She walked toward the first door—Caspian’s dragon mark. As she neared, the obsidian lines flared with a sudden, scorching heat, the wood groaning under an immense, pressurized force from the other side, as if a massive weight was leaning against it, waiting for the latch to click.
She didn’t go further and turned toward the white door—Ren’s striped mark. The silver light rippled softly, emitting a faint, steady vibration that matched the calm, rhythmic purr she had felt against her neck before falling asleep.
She was at a loss. If she wasn’t meant to open the doors, then why were they there? And what was she doing there?
What about her baby? She needed to make sure its existence was present even in this unknown space.
Just then, from the center point where the four doors intersected, a tiny, brilliant speck of golden-red light broke through the surface of the water.
It floated upward, pulsing with an intense, familiar draconic heat that instantly radiated against Hana’s palms.
Inside the tiny, glowing ember, she could hear it—a faint, incredibly rapid double-heartbeat, fierce and stubborn.
Hana let out a tiny breathless but relieved laugh, her hands hovering over the glowing ember as she listened to her baby’s heartbeat.
She didn’t know why she had been brought into this space or what she was supposed to understand from it but what mattered to her was that she could feel the life of her baby, strong, healthy, and hers.
A single tear rolled down her cheek.
"My baby, no matter what," she whispered as she hugged the light to herself. "I’ll protect you."
The warmth of the glowing ember seeped directly into her chest, the tiny, rapid double-heartbeat drumming a comforting rhythm against her soul.
Wrapped in that fierce, protective instinct, the gray void began to ripple one final time, the four marked doors dissolving into a soft, fading mist.
Hana woke up slowly.
Her heavy eyelids fluttered open to the dim, amber glow of the dying stone fireplace. The transition from the strange, watery space back to reality was incredibly soft, cushioned by the deep, enveloping heat of the cabin.
The very first thing she registered was the physical sensation of her own body. Her hands were on her on the solid weight of her thick, heavy belly resting safely against the winter pelts.
It rose and fell with her soft, even breaths.
The relief was silent but absolute; her child was right there, its presence a constant, anchoring warmth inside her.
She lay perfectly still for a few moments, letting her mind adjust to waking up. The soreness in her thighs had dulled to a faint ache, and her energy reserves were no longer dangerously depleted.
Looking around the bed, she noted the way things were in the room. Her men had not crowded her despite the chill outside. Instead, they had formed a secure, impenetrable circle around the plush pelts, respecting her space while keeping her entirely insulated from the biting mountain cold.
Caspian was lying right behind her, his massive, furnace-like frame providing a solid wall of heat against her back. One of his large hands was resting gently near her hip, his touch incredibly light for a dragon king, maintaining his place as the first mate even in his deep sleep.
On her other side, Raiden was curled elegantly, his sharp, handsome features relaxed into rare tranquility, while his nine pink tails were draped neatly across the foot of the bed, sealing out any stray wind.
Kulu occupied the edge near the wall, his arms folded over his chest and his crimson wings tucked tightly against his back, his body alert even in slumber.
And right near the front, resting with the quiet grounding of a man who had successfully found his place, was Ren.
The snow leopard Alpha was sleeping soundly, his long, black-striped tail resting over the edge of the furs, his breathing a steady, rhythmic pattern that perfectly matched the peaceful atmosphere of the cabin.
The truce they made had held so for the meantime, Hana didn’t have to worry about any fights breaking out or heads flying about.
She blinked, and looked at the morning wake up chime that came a minute late for the first time.

She sighed. In the end, it all worked out... Like it always did.
But then again, there was that needy feeling that sometimes came with the mornings. Right now—she looked down at her thigh, unable to get a clear view of her pussy because of her round belly but she could feel the slickness of it—she was horny.
Despite doing it so much the previous morning and then doing it with Ren in the evening, she was still so horny. What kind of genes do dragons have for them to be so demanding?
"Caspian," she called softly, a little breathless as she picked the hand that was resting by her hip and brought it to her pussy. The money Caspian felt his fingers being shoved into Hana’s wet hole, his eyes snapped open.
His eyes met hers and he saw the glazed desperation she had for a release.
"I need you right now," she said softly and the black pupils in his molten gold eyes turned into needle slits.
