Chapter 62: The Overlooked Ones

After a few moments, John slowly snapped back to his senses.

He turned his head toward the two-headed wolf.

The calm and composed commander was gone.

In its place stood a man wearing a savage grin, his eyes gleaming with an almost manic excitement.

A low chuckle escaped his lips before growing into loud, unrestrained laughter.

"Hahahahaha!"

"Wow..."

"This feels incredible."

"I feel like I’m on steroids."

"Grrrr..."

"Grrrr..."

"Grrrr..."

Unknown to John, dozens of zombies had already surrounded him from every direction. Their rotten jaws snapped hungrily as they closed in, yet he didn’t spare them so much as a glance.

Instead, he slowly raised one hand.

His fingers began moving in a series of subtle flicks and twists, as though conducting an invisible orchestra.

The next instant,

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

Steel rods, broken rebars, rusted pipes, and countless shards of twisted metal scattered across the battlefield began to tremble before lifting into the air.

The zombies froze for the briefest moment.

"IRON HAIL"

John flicked his fingers forward.

WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

Hundreds of steel fragments shot out in every direction like a deadly storm.

PUCHI! PUCHI! PUCHI! PUCHI!

One zombie after another had its skull pierced clean through.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Heads burst apart like overripe watermelons, spraying dark blood and rotten flesh across the street.

Within seconds, every zombie surrounding John collapsed to the ground.

The floating steel rods hovered silently around him, their tips still dripping with black blood.

John glanced around at the sea of corpses and curled his lips into an even wider grin.

Looking the wolf next ,

"Now..."

"Let’s finish this."

John exploded forward.

BOOM!

The asphalt beneath his feet shattered as he accelerated, his speed far surpassing anything he had displayed before. Four massive iron beams streaked after him, hurtling through the air like loyal predators.

The two-headed wolf sensed the approaching danger.

"AAAWWWWOOOOO!!"

It let out a furious howl and desperately wrenched at its pinned hind leg with every ounce of strength it possessed.

CRACK! RIP!

The flesh around the embedded beam split apart under the monstrous force. Black blood gushed from the torn wound as muscles and tendons ripped apart. The steel beam shuddered violently, its hold loosening ever so slightly.

The wolf seized the opportunity.

Ignoring the agonizing pain, it gathered strength into its remaining legs and hurled its colossal body upward, attempting to escape.

But it was too late.

John had already closed the distance.

His figure flashed beneath the beast like a phantom.

With a sharp downward sweep of his hand,

WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

Three steel beams plummeted from the sky like divine spears.

PUCHI! PUCHI! PUCHI!

They punched clean through the wolf’s remaining legs before burying themselves deep into the asphalt below.

BOOOOM!

The colossal beast crashed back onto the street, all four limbs firmly nailed to the ground. The impact shattered the surrounding road, sending chunks of concrete flying in every direction.

The wolf struggled madly, its massive body thrashing with all its might, but the steel beams held it fast.

For the first time since it had appeared,

The colossal monster struggled violently, but the steel beams held it firmly in place.

A cruel grin spread across John’s face.

"Hah..."

"You think you can escape so easily?"

"Now..."

"It’s time to meet your maker."

He slowly raised his hand.

One of the beams pinning the wolf and another floating nearby rose into the air. Suspended above the battlefield, both beams began spinning at an astonishing speed, their pointed tips blurring into deadly drills.

WHIRRRRRR...

The air itself trembled under the violent rotation.

The two gigantic eyeballs locked onto John.

Thin blue veins suddenly spread across their bloodshot surfaces, pulsing ominously.

Then

SPLURT!

Both eyeballs tore themselves free from the wolf’s foreheads, trailing strands of flesh and black blood as they floated into the air.

John’s eyes narrowed. Figuring that the aliens had another trick up their sleeves .

Without a moment’s hesitation, he thrust his hand forward.

"DRILL IMPACT!"

WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

The two spinning steel beams shot toward the airborne Eyeball Aliens like railgun projectiles.

But Just before impact,

A special translucent barrier instantly materialized, completely enclosing both eyeballs inside it .

KRAAAAAANG!

Instead of shattering, the barrier merely rippled violently.

A tiny crack slowly appeared across its surface.

Then a second beam attacked from another direction but it also proved incapable of puncturing the barrier .

At the same time, the spinning steel beams noticeably began to lose speed, as though an invisible force was resisting their rotation.

John frowned.

"So that’s your last line of defense..."

"Let’s see how much longer you can keep it up."

He slowly clenched his fist.

WHIRRRRRR!!

The steel beams accelerated once again, spinning faster and faster as the crack across the barrier steadily widened.

CRACK...

CRACK...

CRACK...

Just then , a commotion erupted behind him.

John instinctively glanced over his shoulder and his expression changed.

"...Damn it ."

He had noticed it too late.

Everyone on the military side also noticed it too late.

The two Runner Zombies carrying the remaining Eyeball Aliens had somehow slipped through the battlefield. Several Stalkers stood beside them, silently guarding their advance.

They had already reached the Wave Colliders.

The soldiers assigned to protect the machines lay motionless on the ground, their bodies surrounded by pools of blood.

The two Runner Zombies slowly turned their heads toward John.

Though they lacked expressions...

John could somehow feel the ridicule in their gaze.

From the opposite side of the battlefield, Tony immediately realized their objective.

"No!"

He burst forward at full speed, desperately trying to intercept them.

But he was too late.

The Runners and Stalkers grabbed chunks of broken concrete and twisted debris from the street before hurling them toward the machines.

BAAAM!

CRASH!

BOOOOM!

One Wave Collider crumpled beneath the barrage.

Then another.

Then another.

Sparks erupted from the damaged machinery as thick black smoke poured into the air.

A heartbeat later,

BANG!!

The remaining Wave Colliders exploded almost simultaneously, sending twisted metal and burning debris flying across the battlefield.
