Chapter 59: A Spending Spree

"Well," Julianna was a bit rattled because she swore she had seen this woman rolling over the bed from the corner of her eyes. "The mattress is a triple-layered latex hybrid with independent pocket springs." She explained, trying to retain as much composure as she can. "It is soft, comfortable and has a massaging function right..." She walked towards the edge of the bed and tapped on a button that was almost imperceptible due to its color with the rest of the wood. "Here."

The entire bed began to vibrate as well as light up from underneath. April’s eyes lit up immediately at this.

In other words, it was a massaging bed and it was also super bouncy. Perfect.

"I don’t need to know more." She said, raising her hand and Julianna also thought she didn’t like it, only for April to spread her fingers and add, "I’ll take five of them. Put down ten sets of the silk sheets, a dozen goose-down comforters, and whatever you call those pillows you have in the back."

"Five... California kings?" Julianna’s fingers were practically trembling as she tapped the stylus pen against the screen. "Madame, the lead time for custom obsidian framing is usually—"

"Double the delivery fee, it doesn’t matter. I want them shipped to our transit warehouse by tomorrow afternoon," April said, her tone absolute. "Do you understand?"

Julianna bowed her head.

"Yes. I understand perfectly, Madame." Julianna was beaming inside because with sales like this, she could move up from mere associate to manager position. Today was her lucky day.

April turned on her heel, her eyes locking onto the state-of-the-art kitchen and appliance wing.

She swept through the section like a beautiful, consumerist hurricane. She didn’t check price tags; she judged purely by industrial capability and rugged durability.

"That there is the double-door sub-zero refrigerator over there." Julianna began to explain as soon as she saw April’s attention on it. "It comes with reinforced steel casing and—"

"I’ll take four," April interrupted and Julianna’s eyes glinted, tapping that down

"That there is a commercial-grade induction stove with dual ovens." Julianna continued to explain.

"Give me three." April intercepted.

"That is a smart-heating pantry system that regulates humidity."

"I want five of those."

Julianna was beyond speechless at this point. Her excitement had faded into a little bit of worry. April was taking things without even checking their price tags, as if she plans to furnish a home from scratch.

Well, she indeed planned to set up all of this in her new decorated spatial dimension. And as for the things she needed for her safe house that was still not built, she had her own plans for that.

It’s not the end of the world yet, she can get more supplies with just a flick of her finger.

"Madame, this... the total is accumulating quite rapidly," Julianna whispered, a cold sweat breaking out across her forehead.

She was genuinely starting to wonder if she was dealing with a deeply delusional, highly eccentric prankster. "We will require a substantial, verified down payment to initiate immediate delivery for orders of this magnitude."

April stopped walking, turning slowly to face the anxious sales lady. A slow, highly amused smirk spread across her face.

"How much is the damage so far, Julianna?" April asked smoothly.

Julianna swallowed hard, checking the bottom line of her digital invoice. "With the rushed shipping, the bulk industrial items, and the custom furniture sets... the current total stands at three point eight million dollars. A fifty percent deposit is required immediately to lock in tomorrow’s delivery."

Samuel didn’t even blink. He simply stood there. He’s seen Mr. Reed make larger purchases, but he’s never exactly seen Mr. Reed make purchases as big as that for home furniture.

Still, this was April he was looking at. He knew just how crazy she could get when it came to spending, unless he hadn’t seen the extent of her craziness yet.

April reached into her small, elegant designer bag. She took out her sleek black card directly out of her spatial dimension and extended it between two fingers, offering it to the stunned sales lady. "Run it for the full amount. Why settle for a deposit when you can have the whole pie right now?"

Julianna’s breath caught in her throat. She took the card with both hands, her heart hammering against her ribs as she bowed. But before she could celebrate, she had to be sure this would not fail.

So, she walked over to the heavy, secure terminal at the main desk. She slotted the card, entered the massive manual override amount of $3,800,000, and pressed enter.

She braced herself, half expecting a decline message to flash across the screen but praying that the decline never came. And then, a soft, electronic ping echoed through the quiet showroom.

[TRANSACTION APPROVED]

Julianna’s eyes stretched incredibly wide, her pupils dilating with pure, golden delight as she stared at the receipt printing out.

Her entire attitude shifted instantly, her posture bowing down in a display of absolute, trembling reverence. This woman had given her a ticket to a promotion.

"Thank you so much for your patronage, Madame!" Julianna gasped, returning the card with a double-handed bow. "Everything—absolutely everything—will be handled personally by our executive logistics team. It will arrive at your destination warehouse tomorrow at noon sharp!"

"Good girl," April said, snatching her card back with the same two fingers she had handed it over, and dropping it into her bag, directly into her space. "Make sure the velvet sectionals are wrapped securely in plastic. I don’t want a single speck of dust on them."

"Yes, Madame." Julianna echoed. "Thank you for your patronage, Madame. We hope to see you again."

She got louder as well. April took the response with a delighted nod and turned to walk out, Samuel adjusting his glasses as he walked half a step behind her.

"Come, Samuel. We still have much to see." April said.

Coming to this place and ordering the finest was just the beginning. There was still so much she would like to buy in regards to furniture.

First... the biggest screen TV they can find. So that when she’s watching TV in her safe house while the world is burning, it’ll feel like she’s in a movie theater.
