Chapter 116: Filling Containers

April and Samuel walked back into the grand glass corridor of the main villa, Rufus walking alongside April. As they crossed the threshold into the primary lounge, the sound of a deep, authoritative voice echoing from the terrace made them pause.

Xavier Reed was standing by the massive glass windows, his crisp white shirt unbuttoned at the cuffs as he held his phone tightly to his ear.

He looked exhausted, his immaculate jaw rigid as he spoke to a global merchant network.

"I don’t care about the market fluctuations for next quarter," Xavier growled into the line, his voice cutting through the silent room like iron. "Liquidate the steel assets in the eastern sector immediately. Shift the capital into structural reinforcement contracts and private grain reserves. Do it tonight."

He slammed the phone down, rubbing the bridge of his nose in deep, heavy frustration.

The realization from that morning had clearly settled deep into his bones. He had finally accepted the brutal truth: in seven weeks, the grand empire of Reed Industries wouldn’t mean a single thing.

The only thing that mattered was survival. He was already organizing his own private safe house, hoarding massive amounts of food and heavy construction resources to protect what little circle he could keep alive.

As he turned and saw April standing there with Rufus, Xavier froze. He slowly lowered his hands, his eyes tracking her new, sharp silk attire. He raised a hand, blocking out any further phone alerts as he gave her a long, lingering look. But he didn’t ask her how her day was, if she was satisfied or hanging. He simply gave a weak tired smile and said,

"Goodnight, Miss April," Xavier murmured, his deep voice carrying a quiet, heavy tone of respect.

"Goodnight, Mr. Reed," April replied flatly.

Without another word, she marched up the grand marble staircase, Rufus trotting silently right behind her heels.

As soon as they got to the door, Samuel bowed his head and said,

"Goodnight, Miss April. I wish you a great rest." She nodded and then walked in.

The moment the door to her suite clicked shut, April locked it from the inside. She didn’t waste a single second.

She began to take off her clothes so she could go take a bath, taking Rufus along to let him know that if he needed to use the bathroom, he could use it and flush. He was no ordinary dog. He was a divine beast, surely he understood, right?

Rufus barked, but April was still worried. She didn’t want to have to wake up in the morning and realized she used the bed or the expensive rug to take a dump.

To test whether its bark meant it understood, she watched it as it went to the bathroom and thankfully, it seemed like it was well trained before she became its master.

It saved her the trouble.

After that was done, she laid down on the plush bed, took a long, deep breath to steady her remaining hangover headache, and instantly closed her eyes, letting her consciousness slip straight into her spatial dimension.

The interior flared to life in her mind. Thanks to the feature that arranged everything as they came, putting them in slots with labels and numbers.

It gave her less stress and she was grateful for it since she was exhausted. Still, she looked at the space occupied. 78,000 out of 100,000.

She looked at the flashing system warning regarding the third-level upgrade being imminent.

The moment she pushed the upgrade, the infinite revitalization spring would dry up forever. She couldn’t allow that resource to vanish without securing a massive reserve.

April looked over the slots, trying to find where those empty containers she had gotten from the shopping mart the other day.

It had clearly looked like she was getting them on a whim back then when she was dropping chips and snacks, she thought empty containers would come in handy sometime so she just put them in the cart.

Now, she definitely needed them.

"Ah, there you are," she said as she found the label of empty plastic containers and empty glass vials. There were even heavy five-gallon plastic jugs, and deep ceramic barrels.

"Hm, when did I get this?" She wondered as she looked at the ceramic barrels and plastic jugs. She tried to think back but since she couldn’t recall specifically selecting them, they must’ve been a part of the things Samuel got for her in the warehouse.

There were a lot so she didn’t have the chance to look at every single detail as they were entering her space. Would she ever have the time to look over them?

April walked towards the spring, feeling its healing properties envelope her and ease the lingering hangover headache, even from where she was standing at the edge.

"I didn’t try this before," she whispered to herself, staring at the crystal-clear spring water. "But I think this is an easier method to take out the water than trying to conjure it into a cup in reality, like a water bender trying to get water out of thin air."

April began to use the jug to scoop the glowing, crystal-clear spring water into the containers.

The sheer, ethereal vitality of the fluid filled her spatial dimension, its light radiating against the wooden carven like space. She filled gallon after gallon, vial after vial, her mind meticulously returning them into a new slot that was labeled Revitalization reserve.

The vials had their own lots, and the gallons had their slots as well, making it easier for her to will it out from the real world.

After an hour of continuous extraction, she ran out of containers. Though she had stored a lot, she still wasn’t satisfied. She hated unknown variables, and she didn’t want any accidental shortages along the way. I will rest for today, she decided, clearing the interface. And when I get more containers, I will fill them again.

Leaving things at that, April left her spatial dimension and opened her eyes in the real world, staring at the moon as it reflected into her room.

Rufus was sleeping on the bed with her and though it was her first time sharing a bed with an animal, she did not exactly hate the warmth. Its coat was thick and soft, and... hugging it felt like a kind of relaxant, along with the feeling of the Revitalization spring swirling all over her soul.

April finally descended into a satisfying sleep after a long day.
