Chapter 303: Chapter 303: Meeting Yara Sterling

"What do you mean? You want to kill us?"

It seemed the Sterling family had gotten smarter this time. They understood what she had just said without needing Stella Sterling to explain it again.

Stella Sterling clapped her hands, looking at them with a mock-admiring expression. "Congratulations, you got it right. See? You’re not so dumb after all. You were all acting like you couldn’t understand a word I was saying. I was starting to think there was something wrong with your comprehension skills."

The Sterling family fell silent for a moment, wondering if they had misheard. Marcus Sterling, in particular, grew furious. "You unfilial daughter! Say that again!"

His blood pressure shot up from rage, and his whole body trembled. He raised a hand, pointing a shaky finger at Stella Sterling.

’This unfilial daughter... this unfilial daughter! She’s getting more and more outrageous.’

’Is she really trying to anger us to death?’

Wanda Larkin, on the other hand, looked heartbroken. "Stella, how could you say such a thing? We’re your family, your closest kin. Your words are breaking our hearts."

Stella Sterling stopped just short of rolling her eyes. "You think I care if you’re heartbroken?"

Evan Sterling, however, remained silent, his eyes fixed on Stella Sterling.

It was only then that he truly saw his sister.

He felt she wasn’t lying, nor was she joking just to provoke them.

He realized something was wrong.

Before, even though her words had been outrageous, he hadn’t really taken them to heart.

He had just assumed she was angry about what happened before and was deliberately saying things to vent.

That was precisely why he had just said what he did—he wanted to appeal to her sense of family.

He thought that no matter how resentful she was, they were still family. Besides, he had heard his parents say before that she cared deeply about her family.

So he had always thought she was just angry because they had made her move out of the Sterling villa for Yara’s sake and later pestered her about finding Yara.

Now that she was successful and powerful, she just wanted to vent that frustration in front of them.

Once she had let it all out, they could placate her a bit, and as a family, they could put it all behind them.

But now it seemed that wasn’t the case at all.

Her eyes held no emotion as she looked at them. They were completely calm, as if she were looking at strangers, without the slightest flicker of feeling.

And the words she had just spoken—she was serious.

Evan Sterling understood now and began to feel a tinge of regret. ’If I had known it would be like this, I never should have come.’

He wasn’t as naive as his parents, who were still thinking about being angry at her.

He said nothing, his gaze sweeping the surroundings, searching for a chance to leave.

The men he had brought with him were right outside. If he could just get through that door and contact them, he would have their protection. Even on Stella Sterling’s territory, it wouldn’t be impossible to escape, though the cost would likely be steep.

Regret washed over him at the thought. To get into this base, they had been forced to surrender all their weapons.

At the time, he had simply thought that Stella Sterling was his sister; no matter what, she wouldn’t actually do anything to them.

At most, she would just vent her anger. He had figured he would just endure it for a while, let her release her dissatisfaction, and things would be fine after some time had passed.

Who knew the situation would turn out like this? Now, they were unarmed and on her turf—a very disadvantageous position.

"Alright, alright. I know Yara Sterling is the ’great filial daughter’ in your eyes. So what?"

Stella Sterling looked at them, a weary expression on her face. ’I’m getting tired of hearing this.’

"Speaking of which," she said, "weren’t you always demanding that I find Yara Sterling? She’s here with me right now. Do you want to go see her?"

As soon as she finished, Mr. Quinn and Mrs. Sterling cried out in astonishment. "Are you serious? Yara is here with you? Where is she? Take us to her, quickly!"

In their excitement, they momentarily forgot what Stella Sterling had just said.

Evan Sterling was also surprised. He couldn’t figure out what his sister was thinking. Was she telling the truth?

"No problem. I’ll have someone take you to her right now."

Stella Sterling smiled and called out the door, summoning Stephen Lawrence. She instructed him to take them to see Yara Sterling.

Upon hearing this, a flicker of surprise crossed Stephen Lawrence’s eyes. He then glanced at the excited Sterling family members.

His expression turned strange, but he nodded. "Yes, ma’am."

Seeing that Stella Sterling was actually serious, Mr. Quinn and Mrs. Sterling broke into happy smiles. They hadn’t seen Yara since she went missing at the very beginning of the apocalypse.

All these years, they had been worried sick, even preparing themselves for the worst.

After all, Yara was just a young woman. How could she have survived in such a chaotic era?

But to think she was actually still alive, and right here, no less.

The thought of seeing her again brought an unconcealable excitement to their faces.

Wanda Larkin said with a smile, "Stella, I knew you weren’t that heartless. So you found your sister a long time ago."

Marcus Sterling also smiled in relief. "For the sake of finding your sister, we won’t hold what happened before against you."

To this, Stella Sterling just smiled without saying a word.

Mr. and Mrs. Quinn, however, had no time for her. They eagerly urged Stephen Lawrence to take them to see Yara Sterling.

At Stella Sterling’s command, Stephen Lawrence said nothing more and led the way.

The three members of the Sterling family followed behind him.

Evan Sterling felt his resolve waver again. ’Could my earlier suspicions have been wrong?’

’Stella found Yara and is even letting us see her. Her threat to kill us must have been just to scare us.’

’She must still care about us as family after all.’

’Otherwise, why would she have listened to Mom and Dad and gone to find Yara?’

As they went outside, he didn’t see the men he had brought from Sanctyr Base.

Doubt flickered in his heart, along with a bad feeling.

’The base personnel have probably taken my men elsewhere to be hosted,’ he could only console himself with the thought.

Despite this thought, he didn’t let down his guard.

In this apocalypse, many people had lost their humanity, becoming nothing more than killing machines.

They would do anything to survive.

He didn’t believe for a second that Stella Sterling could become the leader of such a large base without getting blood on her hands.

’Who knows if she has any family affection left in her heart? I’d better be careful.’

After the three of them had left, Stella Sterling sat back down leisurely. She poured herself another cup of tea and savored it slowly.

’Calculating the time... they should have arrived by now. They should be seeing Yara Sterling.’

’I’d love to know what expressions are on their faces right now!’
