Chapter 283: Chapter 283: Whether a Potion Was Taken

But before he said that, he never imagined that Stella Sterling’s subordinates would be so formidable.

If he had seen this scene earlier, how could he have dared to say such things to Stella Sterling? Wasn’t that just asking for humiliation?

Forget about being able to defeat seventy or eighty percent of the people from another base; he probably couldn’t even beat the one person in the surveillance footage.

He shuddered with lingering fear when he remembered how he had asked to fight one of the people Stella Sterling brought with her yesterday.

It was a good thing Stella Sterling didn’t agree. Otherwise, he would have been utterly humiliated.

And thankfully, it seemed Stella Sterling still considered him a friend.

While he was shocked, he was also a little touched.

Stella Sterling had always been cold and distant. Even though he had always called himself her friend, her demeanor really made it seem like she didn’t care about anyone.

But she was actually a pretty good person. She had saved his cousin before and said he owed her a favor, but in reality, Stella Sterling hadn’t asked him to do anything yet.

He still hadn’t repaid her for that favor!

Besides, she hadn’t thrown the truth in his face yesterday to embarrass him, which meant that, in her heart, Stella Sterling still cared about his feelings as a friend.

She wasn’t who she appeared to be. She wasn’t that cold, though when the time came to be ruthless, she was truly vicious and showed no mercy.

"What are you thinking about?"

Ethan Young asked, noticing Louis Grant seemed distracted.

Louis Grant shook his head, pulling his thoughts back to the present.

He looked at the person in the surveillance footage and said with some uncertainty, "Do you think every member of their base is this powerful?"

This was a question he had himself, born from his shock at the person’s explosive combat prowess.

But he couldn’t help but think, ’Surely not everyone from Caeluna Base is this powerful.’

Ethan Young watched the surveillance footage, his tone unreadable. "The ones who accompany their leaders to this summit should be the most outstanding personnel from each base."

The implication was that this person was likely one of the elites of Caeluna Base—one of their more powerful members. The others in the base were probably not as strong as the person in the video.

Hearing this, Louis Grant breathed a huge sigh of relief. ’Good, so not everyone is this powerful. If they were, that would be terrifying.’

This way, he wouldn’t look so pathetic.

However, Ethan Young’s next words shattered Louis Grant’s wishful thinking: "The other five who came with them... I estimate they’re not weak either."

As he spoke, Ethan Young was still staring at the monitor, his gaze serious. "This person’s strength is unusually great. A normal person couldn’t possibly be that strong."

"I don’t know if this person was born with such strength or if they’ve taken some kind of special potion."

In this world, there was certainly no shortage of special potions that could drastically enhance a person’s physical abilities.

But such potions usually came with side effects and had a limited duration. It would be impossible to maintain such immense strength indefinitely.

Their own base was aware of such potions, but they were not to be used under normal circumstances and were not distributed to members.

Even if they were distributed, their use was strictly forbidden except in life-or-death situations.

’Could it be that someone at Caeluna Base developed a potion like this?’

Ethan Young wasn’t sure about this point.

But when Louis Grant heard Ethan Young’s words, he was startled. He recalled Stella Sterling’s own extraordinary strength.

’Could Stella Sterling have taken one?!’

But from what he knew, things like that had major side effects and took a huge toll on the body after use.

Besides, there was no danger here in Meridia Base. She had no reason to do such a thing.

Moreover, given Stella Sterling’s status, there was even less reason for her to do something like that personally.

At this moment, Louis Grant’s mind was filled with questions. He didn’t know if Stella Sterling had taken a similar potion, which would explain her immense strength.

Logically, Stella Sterling had no reason to do so.

But Stella Sterling was so strong, and now a member of her base was also this strong.

Could this really be just a coincidence?!

He suppressed the doubts in his heart and didn’t say anything more, nor did he reveal what he knew to Ethan Young.

Ethan Young didn’t notice anything unusual about him and continued, "I wonder what the other five are like. If the other members of their base also have this kind of ability, then Caeluna Base is truly something else."

Louis Grant said worriedly, "If every member is taking potions and harming their bodies like that, isn’t Caeluna Base just courting its own destruction?"

"Not necessarily."

Ethan Young shook his head.

"While it’s true that all known potions have side effects, if every one of their members is like this, it’s possible their base has developed a potion that grants great strength without any drawbacks."

As he said this, Ethan Young’s breathing quickened, and he started to lose his composure.

If that were the case, then Caeluna Base would possess a game-changing weapon.

He shook his head, setting the matter aside. Meridia Base had no conflict with Caeluna Base.

If they really did have such a potion, they could trade for it.

They had no grudges against Stella Sterling. In fact, you could say they had a connection, since she had been a guest here before.

She also had good relationships with Louis Grant and the others; she was friends with Louis Grant and got along well with Basil Xavier.

Moreover, it seemed Stella Sterling also held goodwill toward them at Meridia Base, which was a good thing.

Besides, when Officer Austin Grant met with Stella Sterling yesterday, the two of them appeared to have had a very pleasant conversation.

Therefore, Caeluna Base wasn’t an enemy. Even if they were powerful, there was no need to be overly wary of them.

Perhaps they could even grow stronger together through cooperation.

Thinking of this, Ethan Young said, "These people... this incident happened outside the base, and those men were the ones looking for trouble. It’s their private affair, not an issue for our base. If those two base leaders want to leave, they can..."

"However, our base is quite busy right now. We can’t spare the manpower to escort them out."

Louis Grant knew that this was Ethan Young’s way of rejecting the two base leaders’ request and that he had no intention of getting involved.

He was very happy about this, as he didn’t want their base to interfere either. From the looks of it, there was no way those two other bases could bully Stella Sterling anyway.

After giving Louis Grant a few more instructions, Ethan Young left to reply to the two men, tactfully refusing their request!
