Chapter 262: Chapter 262: Meridia Base’s Attitude

Hearing this, Vivian Larkin quickly chimed in, "She only stepped in to help me! It has nothing to do with her."

"They were the ones who got handsy first. We were just defending ourselves."

Vivian Larkin then quickly recounted the entire incident to the two men.

Upon hearing her story, the two men grew furious.

One of the women was from their own base, so of course they would side with their own people.

Besides, these guys were trying to bully their people on their own turf. How could they let that stand?

’They’d deserve it if they actually got killed!’

Still, the men were guests, and the faction behind them wasn’t to be trifled with. Despite their anger, they couldn’t just eliminate them on the spot.

So, the two men turned to the group from Sanctyr Base, their faces breaking into faint smiles.

The men from Sanctyr Base got to their feet, their faces pale. They were still expecting the two women who’d dared to hurt them to be arrested and handed over.

Triumphant smirks were plastered on their faces, which, combined with the blood, made them look rather monstrous.

"Your Meridia Base must give us an explanation for this. However, we came here to foster good relations between our bases, and we don’t wish to make things too tense. Therefore, all you have to do is hand those two women over to us for disposal, and we can consider this matter settled."

"Otherwise—"

Their last word hung in the air, a clear threat.

’It was obvious what these men were thinking. They still hadn’t given up on the idea!’

Vivian Larkin grew anxious. This was her problem, and now Stella had been dragged into it.

She whispered, "You’re not from our base. You must have come with your own people. Just mention your base and get yourself out of this."

"It won’t be that much trouble," Stella Sterling said, her tone light. "I don’t think Meridia Base is that cowardly."

Hearing Stella Sterling’s words, Vivian Larkin thought for a moment and agreed. Their base wouldn’t hand them over just because they were intimidated by the people from Sanctyr.

Besides, those men were the ones who started it.

With that thought, she relaxed slightly.

Sure enough, one of the Meridia Base members spoke. "Gentlemen, we all know what really happened here. If you make a big deal out of this, you’ll be the ones without a leg to stand on. In fact, you’ll just be embarrassing your own base."

"Meridia Base welcomes all friends, and we are quite tolerant of those who grace us with their presence. So, let’s leave it at that."

The men from Sanctyr Base were stunned, apparently not expecting this response. One of them yelled, "You dare disrespect our base?"

In the past, wherever their Sanctyr Base went, other bases always deferred to them!

Forget just harassing their people; even if they’d killed someone, the other bases wouldn’t have dared to make a peep.

They never expected Meridia Base to react this way.

The two members from Meridia Base maintained their faint smiles. "We’re already being very respectful."

’Otherwise, they would’ve been killed on the spot for coming to our base and bullying our people. We wouldn’t be standing here having a civil conversation.’

’What a bunch of shameless bastards.’

The only reason they weren’t killing them was because Meridia Base was hosting the event and didn’t want to cause a scene. It certainly didn’t mean they were afraid of them.

The two men’s stance was resolute. The group from Sanctyr Base knew they wouldn’t get their way. They exchanged a look and departed with a final glare.

Stella Sterling watched them go, unsurprised.

’Based on what I know about Meridia Base, I didn’t think they’d be afraid of Sanctyr Base,’ she thought. ’But even setting that aside, if Meridia Base had actually handed us over, they would have lost all credibility. It would have made everyone think they were afraid of Sanctyr Base.’

"Miss Sterling, you’re back. Are you visiting again?"

One of the two base members suddenly turned to Stella Sterling and asked.

His words took Stella Sterling by surprise; she hadn’t expected them to remember her.

’Over a year ago, I was a guest at Meridia Base for a few days. Ethan Young must have told his people to look after me.’

’That’s why all the members were so courteous to me back then. I also toured a lot of places with Louis Grant, so they must have seen me around.’

’But it’s been so long. Can they still recognize me?’

"I suppose you could say that."

Stella Sterling nodded. She was indeed a guest this time, though under slightly different circumstances than her last visit.

The men exchanged a few more pleasantries before leaving, explaining they had other duties to attend to.

Vivian Larkin grabbed Stella Sterling’s hand, eager to catch up. The base had been bustling lately, but it didn’t really concern her; she just had to focus on her own tasks.

"Louis Grant is going to be thrilled to know you’re back! Come on, let’s go find him. You have no idea, that guy was moping for days after you left."

"There’s no rush. I’ll be here for a few days, so we’ll have time to catch up. I need to get to the main hall right now."

Vivian Larkin smacked her forehead. "How could I forget? You came with your own people, so you must have other business to attend to."

"You’d better hurry, then. You don’t want your leader getting on your case, do you? Just remember to come find me later! I’m still living in the same place."

’She was a little puzzled. Meridia Base was so large and powerful. Things were good for Stella back then, so why did she leave?’

’Could the base she’s with now be even stronger than Meridia Base?’

But she felt it wasn’t her place to ask, figuring everyone had their own reasons for the choices they make.

After Stella Sterling left, Vivian Larkin hurried off in another direction. She had to tell that guy Louis Grant the news.

When Stella Sterling arrived at the main hall, it was already crowded. A number of people were gathered around Julian Fletcher and the others, deep in conversation.

They were representing Caeluna, after all, and there was no shortage of factions looking to curry favor.

"Sterling."

"Sterling."

Seeing Stella Sterling arrive, Julian Fletcher and the others immediately excused themselves from their conversations to greet her.

Hearing what they called her, the others all turned to look.

Not everyone had met Stella Sterling before; many had only heard of her by reputation.

Everyone was curious about the female leader of Caeluna. What did she look like? Was she really as beautiful as the stories claimed?

In an instant, all the people who had been talking with Julian Fletcher’s group turned their gazes toward Stella Sterling. The next moment, a chorus of astonished gasps filled the air.
