Upon opening the Shop Interface, Bruce briefly scrolled through the categories into which the items were divided.
The number of various items available in each category far exceeded what he’d initially anticipated. Being far more than he could count at once, they each numbered in the thousands or more.
As he scrolled through them, Bruce noticed that, contrary to other things in the System, the Shop wasn’t limited by Rebate Stage. Meaning, he had access to everything in the Shop, regardless of his Rebate Stage.
There was only one problem that became apparent as he continued checking out each category.
"The prices are too damn expensive!"
Nearly screaming as he saw the outrageous prices the System placed on each item, Bruce struggled to maintain his composure.
The prices of the least expensive ones mostly varied from thousands to tens of thousands of Rebate Coins just to purchase.
The only exceptions were a few Low-Grade Consumables, Permanent Enhancers, and Skill Resources that were within his budget.
Yet, most of them still took up nearly all of his current Rebate Coins just to purchase a single one.
"Guess I got my work cut out for me."
Sighing in defeat, Bruce realized he’d probably still have to work harder in order to attain enough Rebate Coins to purchase items from the Shop.
However, considering the fact that the amount he’d gained was merely from a day’s progress, his mood lightened up a bit.
Checking out the items, Bruce realized that most of the items in each category had multiple Grades, which were divided into eight different tiers, namely;
~Low-Grade
~Mid-Grade
~High-Grade
~Superb-Grade
~Sublime-Grade
~Arcane-Grade
~Apex-Grade
~Ultimate-Grade
Naturally, the higher the Grade of an item, the more expensive it was, with some High-Grade items even bordering on millions of Rebate Coins just to purchase one.
Wondering what he should make as his first purchase in the Shop, a sudden notification drew his attention before he could come to a decision, briefly shocking him in the process.
[Main Task (2) has been Initiated]
[Task Title: Ultimate Glow Up]
{Description: The ridicule has finally reached its limit. Now it’s time for the ultimate glow up, to shut them all up!}
{Task Requirements:
~Burn off excess body mass.
~Get a haircut.
~Upgrade all base Stats above average.
~Upgrade your wardrobe.
~Get ripped.}
{Time Limit: 168 Hours}
{Reward: Random Gift}
{Punishment: Permanent additional 50-pound weight increase & 90% reduction in shaft overall size.}
Staring at the notification, Bruce took a moment to process the information, one after another.
A certain one spoke to him more than the rest, as a slight shiver ran down his spine at the sight of it.
’Isn’t that a bit too harsh for a punishment? Not only do I have to suffer a permanent weight increase, but that as well?’
Shuddering at the thought, Bruce instinctively glanced at his little brother...
Or at least, he tried to.
But his protruding belly didn’t allow him the privilege of viewing it.
Feeling it instead, he deduced that it was roughly half the size of an average adult’s, if not less.
"There’ll be barely anything left of it if I fail this task."
Feeling as though this punishment was a bit worse than the previous death penalty, he’d practically be left with a micropenis while becoming even more obese than he currently was, making things more difficult going forward.
Glancing at something else to take his mind off the consequences of not completing the task, Bruce diverted his attention elsewhere.
"Didn’t know a Task could have more than one requirement for completion."
Looking at the list of requirements, he understood the System’s point, but failed to understand something.
"How exactly am I supposed to turn this sack of marshmallow into a ripped hunk in just seven days? That’s practically impossible."
Taking one last look at his jelly belly, Bruce failed to understand how he could turn it into a six-pack within the limited time provided.
However, on doing so, an idea suddenly emerged in his mind.
’Wait a minute. The System didn’t necessarily say I have to work out to burn the fat. Not to mention, I have access to the Shop feature now. Maybe there’s something there that can help speed up the process.’
At the thought, Bruce immediately enquired about possible items or anything in the Shop that could help speed up the Task.
[Processing...]
+----------+
[Consumables...]
{Mid-Grade Strength Boost Elixir +50 (50 minutes) - 45RC}
{Mid-Grade Stamina Boost Elixir +30 (35 minutes) - 64RC}
{Mid-Grade Charisma Boost Elixir +20 (30 minutes) - 70RC}
{Mid-Grade Agility Boost Elixir +40 (45 minutes) - 50RC}
{Mid-Grade Mana Boost Elixir +100 (1 hour) - 80RC}
+----------+
[Permanent Enhancers...]
{Low-Grade Strength Enhancer +25 - 140RC}
{Low-Grade Stamina Enhancer +15 - 170RC}
{Low-Grade Charisma Enhancer +10 - 200RC}
{Low-Grade Agility Enhancer +20 - 150RC}
{Low-Grade Mana Enhancer +50 - 250RC}
{Low-Grade Base Stats Enhancer +10 - 300RC}....
---------
The list went on, showing the different Grades for each item, with the prices becoming more and more outrageous as it did.
Based on his observations, the Consumables were a sort of temporary solution, providing significant increases to individual Stats while costing less, but each came with a time limit.
Whereas the Permanent Enhancers had no time limit, but only provided about half the Stat increase the Consumables did while costing far more than even the higher Grades of the latter.
However, the former also had one for Base Stats in general, increasing multiple Stats at once, though it cost significantly more as well.
Upon scrolling further, he came to know that the Consumables weren’t just boosts, but mostly edible items that provided temporary increases to resistance, Stats, and various other aspects.
Whereas the Permanent Enhancers were more like an advanced version, with additional features.
"Seems the Low-Grade Base Stats Enhancer is the best option."
Considering it provided a permanent boost to all his base Stats, Bruce decided this was the optimal solution at the moment.
Though it might take a while before he reached one of the requirements for completing the Main Task, he already had an idea of how to meet the time limit before it ran out.
Upon coming to this solution for his earlier problem, another issue emerged in his mind.
’How exactly am I supposed to explain that an oversized man suddenly got ripped in a little over a week?’
Thinking this, he briefly glanced at one of the requirements.
’Hmm! Guess a gym might not be such a bad idea after all.’
