Upon seeing the amount, Bruce briefly sighed inwardly at how little it seemed.

Were it not for the conversion rate, he might’ve thought the system was secretly cheating him.

Looking back at Summer, he noticed she’d regained a bit of her initial composure as she said with a smug smile.

"Fufufu! Good to know you at least realize you’re a big dummy for ignoring my wise counsel. You’d best worship my words from now on so that you may be fortunate in your endeavours."

Watching her smile smugly, Bruce chuckled inwardly as he replied.

"Why, of course. How can one as lowly as I dare ignore the words of one as wise and great as you a second time?"

Upon saying this, they both stared at each other in silence for a few seconds before finally bursting into laughter at the sheer absurdity of their words.

Upon hearing Summer’s pompous declaration, Bruce had realized it was her weird way of trying to lighten the situation and cover up her embarrassment.

As such, he’d played along with her act, causing neither of them to be able to hold back their laughter.

Managing to calm down, Bruce glanced at the sky and noticed it was getting late.

It had already turned a slight shade of orange as the sun slowly descended beyond the horizon.

Though he was a bit surprised at how quickly time had passed, thinking back on everything that had happened today, he realized it made sense.

Despite this still being the same day he’d transmigrated into this world, the amount of things he’d experienced in such a short span of time had been more eventful than his entire previous life put together.

First, he had to deal with the annoying ex and her twig of a boyfriend, who had turned out to be a secretly kept man.

Then he spent an absurd amount of time cleaning a room that felt like a crime scene waiting to happen.

Before going hunting for beauties, only to nearly get arrested for harassment multiple times.

Which eventually led to him running into Summer and the chain of events that had brought him here.

Were it not for how vivid it all felt, he would’ve thought he was dreaming or had died and crossed over.

’Which, honestly, isn’t that far from the truth now that I think about it.’

Thinking this, he soon realized that with the day slowly coming to an end, it also meant his free daily Rebate would most likely reset by midnight, and he’d have to start all over again.

Though that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, he still felt it’d be a waste if he couldn’t finish using today’s available rebate opportunities.

After all, today felt... special.

Not to mention, he’d only used it once and still had roughly two more chances remaining before it ran out.

Due to this, Bruce began thinking seriously, trying to come up with an excuse plausible enough to spend money on Summer.

As she most likely wouldn’t accept if the reason wasn’t valid enough, since she hated owing people favours more than anything else.

As such, she actively avoided situations that might make her feel indebted to someone.

Eventually, an idea popped into his mind.

’Hmm! That might work.’

Looking towards Summer, who was now scrutinizing the milkshake cup as though worried she’d missed a few drops, Bruce inquired.

"Come to think of it, your birthday was about a week ago, right?"

Still scrutinizing the cup, she casually replied without looking up.

"Yup."

"Perfect! Then why don’t we go out together? That way I can make up for missing your birthday this year."

Hearing this, Summer nearly choked on the air she’d been sucking through the straw in an attempt to reach the final drop of milkshake.

"Egh-gh! Huh? No way! There’s no need for that. You’ve already done more than enough. You don’t need to go that far."

Thinking he was still trying to make up for what had happened between them, Summer understood he was already sorry.

As such, she didn’t want him inconveniencing himself any further in an attempt to please her.

Understanding this as well, Bruce didn’t relent.

After all, his bonus rewards relied on this. So he had to pamper her as much as possible before the day ended.

"Oh! So that’s it, huh? I guess you really are mad at me for not even wanting to give me the chance to make up for what I did by celebrating your belated birthday."

Pausing as he feigned sad understanding, he muttered.

"I get it. You don’t have to if you don’t want to. I guess I’ll just go cry myself to sleep again. Boohoo!"

Surprised by his exaggerated response, Summer replied in exasperation before finally admitting defeat.

"That’s not what I... Ugh... Fine. You win."

To which Bruce immediately brightened up and clapped his hands in joy.

"Yippee!"

Seeing this, Summer simply shook her head in defeat.

How could she not know he was faking?

Of course she did.

But she’d only agreed because she knew he’d most likely keep at it until she accepted.

Though he wasn’t usually like this, as he rarely took the initiative to give her anything before. Nor was he normally this adamant about it.

Yet she couldn’t deny that she enjoyed this side of him as well.

Glancing towards the waitress, who had practically been glaring at them for the past hour or so, Bruce whispered.

"I think we’d better get out of here before your partner over there really snaps."

Glancing back as well, Summer chuckled.

"Yeah. You’re probably right. Our shift’s been over for a while now, but due to the rule that says we can’t chase away a paying customer as long as they’re still eating, she couldn’t ask us to leave immediately. Especially with the cameras still active."

Chuckling as well, Bruce added.

"Then I guess we’d best skedaddle before she starts having intrusive thoughts."

With that, the duo laughed a bit before making their way into the city as night slowly drew closer, causing the streetlights to automatically switch on in response.
