Chapter 67: Be Proud
Branna was about to summon her signature ability, when she suddenly felt Archmage Arlen’s vitality waned.
Her heart skipped a beat. His runes glued on her body were still activated.
She turned around and to her disbelief, Archmage Arlen was falling from the sky. A demon was floating in his previous position, instantly conveying to her what had happened.
Branna’s hair stood on ends. She wanted to gaze closely at Archmage Arlen, but her instinct screamed.
She leapt back and a wave of hellfire struck the ground she stood.
She glared at Varkhaz and growled.
There was no use to humiliate him. Demons were arrogant and loved to play with them.
Without hesitation, she summoned her signature ability—Saint’s Judgement.
A sharp sword intent exploded from her. Any creatures or objects closer to her, except the ground, were instantly sliced.
The ground themselves showed countless cuts from the excessiveness of the sword intent.
Branna’s long hair levitated. Her eyes glowed with crimson killing intent.
Saint’s Judgement was her signature ability—her ultimate technique. She could only last for a minute before she ran out of stamina.
It was the pinnacle technique of a Blade Saint.
In this state, she could instantly execute a sequence of high-speed slashes and delivers seven strike and each strikes deals 120% physical damage and the last strike deals 300%.
Her sword could even extend up to ten meters.
At this state, Branna was practically invincible.
Just as Varkhaz thought Branna was about to fight against him, Branna suddenly turned around and dashed at Serakith, his captain responsible for assassination.
He felt humiliated. Branna had actually chosen his captain after going all out. He roared and chased Branna, while mentally ordering Serakith to vanish and bait Branna to him.
Serakith used Ash Step, his main ability, allowing him to instantly move nearby shadows.
Just as his body was about to dissolve into the shadow, Branna’s pace sped up. She instantly appeared in front of Serakith and struck him.
Her sword successfully sliced through his left arm that constantly shed smoke and ash.
Amplified by Sword Intent, it was impossible for Serakith to recover his lost limb. He shrieked in pain.
Branna wasn’t finished, she followed up with another strike, aiming to cut his body in half.
However, Serakith successfully dissolved into the shadow, barely dodging the attack.
He gritted his teeth. He observed as Branna was finally occupied by Varkhaz.
Serakith turned his head in a specific direction and his hollow eyes glowed a crimson light.
The Soul Mark he placed upon the fleeing human was still active despite the concealment runes placed by the human he had just killed.
Just as he was about to dissolve into the shadows to pursue him, Belzura, their Battle Seer, suddenly spoke to him.
She said, "Don’t. You’ll die."
Serakith was taken aback. He quickly turned and stared at her, only to notice she was giggling.
He was tricked, causing him to be infuriated.
"Ridiculous!"
He didn’t bother with her anymore and dissolved into the shadow, pursuing the fleeing human while Branna was occupied by Varkhaz.
Belzura was about to stop him, but Serakith had already disappeared.
Ignaroth, the Duelist, was curious by her behavior and asked, "Is he?"
Belzura glanced at him and nodded. "I just laughed because of how funny his death was. He was gravely injured. The Sword Intent is killing not only his wound but his insides. That’s why he died."
Ignaroth frowned. Only the great Demon Lord Varkhaz can stop him. But he’s fully occupied by that damn human.
Velkara, the Corruptor, interrupted his thoughts.
She said in a seductive tone, "He’s replaceable. If what Belzura said is true, then there’s no use of him. He can’t even take out a human weaker than the other two."
Belzura glared at her and said in an aggrieved tone, "It’s true!"
Ignaroth didn’t replied and only watched the battle between Branna and Varkhaz continued.
During the seventh strike, Branna’s sword actually broke into pieces while Ignaroth’s Ashrender sword simply trembled.
Ignaroth felt his hands numb—he was utterly shocked.
But he immediately rejoiced when Branna was finally a weaponless individual. Her death was imminent now.
He laughed and lowered his guard. He wanted to humiliate him more, when Branna suddenly pointed at the broken sword towards him.
He was surprised but sensing her last desperate struggle made him laugh even more. He was unconcerned now, he laughed for a while to let her feel despair.
Suddenly, Branna summoned the remaining mana she had. The mana concentrated at the tip of her broken sword.
She lowered her legs and leapt towards Varkhaz’ head with full strength. She instantly arrived in front of his face, who was laughing to his heart’s content.
She executed her finisher technique, Void Cleave.
It was a highly concentrated slashed aimed at a single point. She slashed at Varkhaz’s temple.
Varkhaz thought it was Branna’s futile attempt.
The mana was meager compared to a terrifying mage attack.
But he had forgotten that Branna was a Blade Saint. The mana was just a finisher while her strength and sword intent was in full display.
Not only it was Branna’s last struggle, but her calculated move to force Varkhaz to be vulnerable because of his arrogance.
Watching her attempt to kill Varkhaz, the captains simply shrugged.
Velkara said, "Oh, oh."
Every captain possessed the ability to save their future Demon Lord. But they knew, that once they attempted to do so, Varkhaz would be infuriated and trampled them to death.
Hence, they only watched as Branna’s sword successfully slashed through Varkhaz’s temple, opening a lacerated wound.
Varkhaz roared at the top of his lungs and was about to swing his Ashrender at Branna but stopped when she saw her smiling bitterly.
Branna was completely exhausted now—her stamina and mana reserves were depleted.
The remaining strength she had was her vitality that could easily be swept away like a candle waiting to be blown.
As her body collided with the ground, she watched as Varkhaz raised his foot and said, {Be proud. You’ve wounded me.}
Branna didn’t hear what he said. She was instantly distracted by the memories being played in her mind...
