Chapter 170: Chapter 129: The Zerg Race’s Secret Past, Half-Step Tier Three

Lin Feng got up and cleared away the plastic sheet spread over the bed, which was still covered in the sweat and grime from Chen Yanyan’s Tier Two Awakening.

They did this before every important Upgrade to avoid getting the bedding dirty.

After he finished clearing away the old sheet and spreading a fresh one, Chen Yanyan emerged from the bathroom. Wrapped in a towel, she saw Lin Feng getting ready to lie down.

"Are you starting your Awakening now?"

Lin Feng nodded, gripping the Level 29 Electromagnetic Cannon in his hand. He seemed a little tense.

"That’s right. Just one more time, and I’ll reach Tier Two Late Stage Perfection... and become the strongest person below High Tier."

Seeing him taking deep breaths, Chen Yanyan furrowed her brow and asked with concern,

"What’s wrong? Is this minor upgrade going to be dangerous?"

Lin Feng hesitated for a few seconds before nodding.

"Remember what I told you about the parasitic host mothers? They’re a special type of Spiritual Element Zerg..."

Chen Yanyan hummed in acknowledgment.

"I know. Their Spiritual Attribute Value is exceptionally high, and killing them boosts our Spiritual Power..."

"Wait a minute. After your meeting in Jia City Center yesterday, you killed that Clone Puppet. And before that, there was Cheng Zhan from the Thirteenth Division, who was parasitized and controlled... After this Awakening, your Spiritual Attribute... it’s going to completely break its limit, isn’t it?!"

Lin Feng sighed softly and nodded.

"Right! I might end up with a Tier Three Spiritual Attribute Value ahead of schedule. That’s equivalent to Half-Step Tier Three, and in the rarest of categories, the Spiritual Attribute..."

"That’s why I said I’ll be the strongest person under Tier Three."

"But nothing in life is free. A limit-breaking Upgrade for my Spiritual Attribute means I’ll have to face the ordeal of a Tier Three Awakening ahead of schedule..."

Chen Yanyan swallowed hard. Noticing an empty refrigerated box nearby, she turned and left the bedroom, returning from the kitchen with several bottles of Organic Nutrient Liquid.

She held them out to Lin Feng.

"Here, drink these!"

"I don’t know if they’ll help with your Spirit, but I drank these before my Tier Two Awakening, and I didn’t experience any danger or pain..."

"Just try it. It can’t hurt, right?"

Lin Feng hesitated for a moment before meeting Chen Yanyan’s expectant, commanding gaze. He downed several bottles in one go. Right before he started the Upgrade, he managed to crack a joke.

"Okay, okay, that’s enough! If I drink any more, my Physique Attribute might break its limit too, and I’ll jump straight to Tier Three. My body can’t handle that!"

Chen Yanyan smiled and squeezed his hand.

Lin Feng took a deep breath, initiated the final Upgrade, and chose to integrate the extra Spiritual Energy.

In the next instant, a searing warmth flowed from the cannon into his body, accompanied by an intense Spiritual Energy Wave.

As she held his hand, Chen Yanyan could also feel the terrifying nature of that Energy.

This was because it didn’t just originate from a Tier Two parasitic host mother. After mutating, it had become a true Mother Empress Avatar, containing the Spiritual Power of the High-tier Zerg Race.

As this Energy surged up his arm and into his brain, Lin Feng’s eyes rolled back into his head, and he instantly lost consciousness.

The violent trembling that had seized his body ceased, and he fell still. Only the steadily rising temperature of his forehead proved that a Tier Jump Awakening was taking place.

Chen Yanyan quickly raised her other hand, poured water onto a towel, and used the cool, damp cloth to try and bring his fever down.

As for Lin Feng’s consciousness, after being battered by what felt like a tornado, it was swept into an expanse of darkness.

......

......

When Lin Feng opened his eyes again, he found himself in the boundless, vast Cosmos...

As far as he could see, there was nothing but pinpricks of starlight in the distance and a single, massive planet beneath him.

It had a reddish-brown, sandy surface, the color of rust on iron ore. Unlike Blue Star, a sapphire world with over seventy percent of its surface covered by oceans, this planet exuded an aura of deathly silence.

But Lin Feng knew this place was different from the desolate wasteland he had experienced before.

That had been his Spirit World, and he’d had his bound equipment, like the Land Patrol Battleship and the Electromagnetic Cannon, with him.

But here, he had none of that. He hadn’t even formed a body...

All he had was an uncontrollable, first-person perspective, just like in a dream.

Lin Feng didn’t have long to observe. The next second, his point of view launched like a rocket, hurtling straight toward the planet below.

After passing through a thin atmosphere, the planet’s surface was laid bare before him. It was only then that Lin Feng discovered the rust-colored world was not as dead and barren as he had first thought.

Instead, there were countless tracks, and the mountains and valleys were pockmarked with innumerable holes...

Seeing such a peculiar alien landscape, Lin Feng was still marveling at the tenacity of life. But in the next instant, a vast, dark Swarm poured out from the densely packed holes.

Although they didn’t look like the Black Spine Zergs, the style of their specialized fangs allowed Lin Feng to recognize them at a glance: this was the Zerg Race that had invaded Blue Star.

However, the Swarm before him was more primitive; unlike the Black Spine Zergs, they didn’t seem to be born solely for Slaughter.

’This might be the homeworld of the Zerg Race.’

’Existing in some corner of the vast cosmos.’

Lin Feng’s brow furrowed even tighter. ’It could be the Spiritual Energy I absorbed from the High-tier Mother Empress, or maybe it was the Tier Two Zerg Egg Nutrient Liquid I drank before the Upgrade... somehow, it’s allowed my consciousness to tap into the genetic memory of the Zerg Race...’

In any case, his spiritual consciousness was now inhabiting a member of the Zerg Race, personally experiencing the history of their species from a first-person perspective.

As Lin Feng’s perspective descended to the surface, he saw large numbers of Primitive Zerg Race gathering like members of a tribe, gesticulating wildly as they enthusiastically welcomed a kinsman—or rather, a High-tier Zerg of immense intelligence—that had descended from outer space.
