Chapter 154: Chapter 123: Copy Tank, Electromagnetic Pulse
"Of course I remember Liu Yueqi. She joined the State Guard, and I was the one who personally handled her enlistment."
"That girl had a lot of potential. Even though she was only a Low-level Enhanced Person, she was a real fighter. It’s a shame we haven’t heard anything from her all this time..."
"Jin City is too chaotic right now. I’ll try to get in touch."
"Maybe she already made it out of the city," Han Yuxin replied.
As the Zerg Race invasion accelerated, conflicts with humans became more frequent. Enhanced People were no longer a rare sight, and you could even find many Awakeners with Superpowers among the fleeing crowds.
Using firearms and simple traps within the Zerg-invaded city, it was still quite easy to kill a few Tier One Black Spine Zergs.
Lin Feng himself had once planned to use the liquefied natural gas tanks from the old residential complex to ambush a Swarm.
That stuff was no joke. The explosive yield of one kilogram of liquefied natural gas is equivalent to ten kilograms of TNT, and a typical tank held more than ten kilograms.
It could easily demolish a small building.
Killing a Swarm of Black Spine Zergs, then, would be a piece of cake.
Back at the service area, there were quite a few civilian Awakeners who had escaped from Hai City.
Now, in the Jin City District, the leaders of many factions were Awakeners themselves.
Their reason for staying was simple: use the city’s buildings for cover, replicate their experience in Hai City, and continue killing Zergs to evolve.
The Zerg Race’s invasion of the city was a gradual process. Furthermore, the Red-Armored Beetles had trouble finding places to burrow to the surface within the urban district, which prevented them from flanking and surrounding their targets.
To systematically clear and occupy a major city would take them at least three or four days.
This was the window of opportunity for the ambitious.
Although they couldn’t confront the Zerg Race head-on on the open plains like the military, the concrete jungle left behind by humanity gave them a home-field advantage, allowing them to compensate for their lack of numbers.
After Han Yuxin told him this, Lin Feng nodded and told her to get ready as well.
He had the same idea.
After all, Taihu Lake, an area comparable in size to a Prefecture-level City, would become a gathering point for numerous Mother Empresses. They would draw water there, regroup their forces, and then, in one fell swoop, attack Jin City and the rest of Jiangnan Province.
By using Jin City’s complex urban structures, they could weaken the Zerg Race’s strength, delay their invasion, and buy more time to prepare for the final battle.
Of course, Lin Feng had more on his mind than just that.
Even though Jin City’s industrial assets had been half-evacuated, there were still factory buildings, steel-frame roofs, and railway tracks left behind. These heavy, low-value materials were exactly what he needed most right now.
The cost of melting down and reprocessing these pre-formed materials was higher than refining and forging raw ore. Coupled with the limited capacity of the river barges and the tight schedule, these less important items were left behind.
What they had moved, for the most part, were machine tools and raw materials.
After telling Han Yuxin to note the locations of these materials for collection, Lin Feng had also intended to ask her to gather some high-quality Close Combat Weapons for backup.
But unexpectedly, the line filled with static.
The signal was bad, so he just hung up.
Just then, Chen Yanyan walked over with dinner and asked about Shen Jie’s condition.
Lin Feng didn’t give it much thought, putting away his phone.
"Nothing major. His appearance just can’t be restored. He’ll have to come to terms with it himself."
Chen Yanyan nodded.
"It’s usually easier for guys. I’m more worried about whether Zhang Liying will be able to accept it..."
"But I guess it makes them a good match. They can support each other."
Lin Feng grunted in agreement.
"Let’s eat. When we’re done, I’m going to start synthesizing a Replica of the Land Patrol Battleship. The civilian vehicles we have are too fragile and have terrible combat performance. They’re limited to paved roads; the moment they hit mud, a jungle, or an obstruction, they’re useless."
Chen Yanyan grew excited upon hearing this.
"Really? Is it something like the Flying Wing Tank?"
"We could follow behind the Land Patrol Battleship and form an invincible apocalypse convoy, sweeping across the battlefield!"
Lin Feng nodded. That was exactly what he had in mind.
He would likely be acting alone more often in the future. If he was always out, he would have to take his core weapon, the Armor-Piercing Magnetic Cannon, with him. But that would cause his team’s combat effectiveness to plummet, leaving them unable to withstand an attack from a large force of Black Spine Zergs.
The solution was to create Replicas of the Land Patrol Battleship.
This would allow them to work with Chen Yanyan and form a powerful land-based fleet.
The most crucial factor was that a Replica of the Armor-Piercing Magnetic Cannon, once integrated into one of the new vehicles, would form a secondary bond with that vehicle.
Even if Lin Feng left with the original Armor-Piercing Magnetic Cannon, the Replica integrated into the vehicle would still function normally.
This was something Lin Feng had discovered on the Land Patrol Battleship.
The ten Heavy Machine Gun Replicas created by its Unlimited Firepower Attribute had already detached from their original-replica relationship with his Armor-Piercing Magnetic Cannon, binding instead to the Battleship itself.
Therefore, Lin Feng just needed to add Replicas of the Shotgun and the Divine-level Pistol when he copied the Land Patrol Battleship, and he could create several super combat vehicles.
They would be comparable to heavy tanks with double the firepower.
Hearing Lin Feng’s explanation, Chen Yanyan’s jaw nearly hit the floor. She could already picture herself piloting the Land Patrol Battleship, leading her crew, fiercely battling the Zerg Race on the field, and wildly reaping unlimited Upgrade Energy.
Lin Feng nodded, then devoured his dinner in a flash. He walked out of the Battleship and headed to the area in the camp where the Fine Steel Plates were stacked.
He needed to check the total weight of the remaining Fine Steel and plan the allocation for each of the Replicas.
