Chapter 311: Secret Loyalty

After leaving the Lord’s mansion, Wilcher couldn’t help but slap himself twice, hard. Slap, slap—there was no holding back.

He couldn’t control his own mouth and had almost angered Waldo! He vowed to be more careful next time, making sure such a situation didn’t happen again. Even now, Wilcher still felt a shiver down his spine. Fortunately, Waldo didn’t confront him.

Once he calmed down, Wilcher began to recall what Waldo had said. Unconsciously, he felt a chill down his spine. It seemed that Waldo wanted to root out anyone disloyal!

Duncan, including the Alliance Leader and others, probably never imagined that their every move had already been exposed to Waldo.

Furthermore, Waldo was determined this time, unwavering in his resolve to clean up the entire Dawn City. It wouldn’t be long before Dawn City turned into a battlefield!

Wilcher was thankful that he had seen it coming and had managed to distance himself, proving his loyalty to Waldo. Otherwise, he would be in danger too!

Wilcher was very relieved about that. Although he sympathized with the Alliance Leader of the Wind Alliance and the high-ranking members who had joined the rebel forces, it was just sympathy.

Their fate was of their own making. Being suppressed by Waldo was entirely a consequence of their actions!

Now, it was a critical moment, and some of the people under his command were getting restless, wanting to join the fray. He had to stop them. If Waldo found out, he didn’t know how he’d be viewed.

Wilcher thought about his subordinates, and his brows furrowed. There had been undercurrents lately, and a few of his people had been tempted by the rebels and were getting restless. If he hadn’t firmly stopped them, some might have already joined the rebels.

The most dangerous moment was approaching, and he had to ensure that none of his people got involved. They might even need to step up at a critical moment to assist Waldo in capturing the rebels. Lost in thought, Wilcher returned to his own headquarters.

He called in his subordinates, all of whom had previously held positions such as ship captains, first mates, and squad leaders. As expected, as soon as they gathered, one person stood up.

"Sir, why aren’t we acting together with the Alliance Leader?" said the person. "It’s said that this operation is a joint effort of the three major alliances. If we don’t show our support, could we face repercussions later? Or be targeted?"

"Yeah, there are so many people involved in this operation. Shouldn’t we do something instead of just watching?" another chimed in. "Sir, have you considered this?"

"Enough!" Wilcher snorted, his gaze coldly scanning the speakers. The people felt a chill down their spines, and the surrounding temperature seemed to drop significantly. The individuals involuntarily shrank and lowered their heads.

Wilcher, now composed, said coldly, "Most of the people are participating in this operation? Where did you get that information? Besides the discontented figures from before, many ordinary people are living better lives now. Why should we be entangled with them?"

"They think that a call from them would rally everyone from the original major alliances? Don’t even dream about it. It’s not that simple!"

"And don’t assume that even if many people act together, Waldo won’t hold you accountable in case of failure later. Let me make it clear: you’re dead if you dare to join. Don’t try to convince me. I know very well that some of you have been swayed by certain individuals, even received their benefits, and now want to convince me."

"I’m telling you, it won’t work!" Wilcher’s eyes were piercing as they swept over the group.

The people he caught the eye of felt like they were being stared down by a fierce tiger. Although Wilcher was obsequious and fearful in front of Waldo, he was a formidable controller, possessing both strength and means of the highest order.

He had amassed great prestige among his subordinates. After he made his intentions clear, some of his guilt-ridden subordinates couldn’t help but tremble.

They had thought that accepting material goods from others wouldn’t be discovered, but they hadn’t anticipated that Wilcher was well aware of it!

"Sir, we were foolish! Indeed, someone approached us, urging us to persuade you and act with them! We’re truly sorry, we won’t dare to do it again!" some confessed, unable to withstand the pressure.

Following that, some knelt down, sobbing and begging for mercy, snot and tears flowing.

Then, several others voluntarily admitted their mistakes.

Wilcher looked at them coldly.

"Very well. Initially, I had planned that if you didn’t admit it voluntarily, I would hand you over to Waldo for confession. However, since you confessed, I’ll let you off this time. Let this be a lesson!"

"Yes!"

"Thank you, sir!" They expressed their gratitude profusely.

Wilcher didn’t even spare them a glance.

After dealing with these individuals, one of Wilcher’s trusted subordinates hesitated for a moment and asked, "Sir, you just said they will definitely die? Here, ’they’ refers to the rebels, of course."

Upon hearing this, the others also looked over. Although they were not very inclined to join the rebels, they felt that it was unlikely the rebels would be completely wiped out. After all, their numbers were large, and they were powerful.

Moreover, they had incited many ordinary survivors. Most importantly, the majority of survivors in Dawn City were their subordinates.

If Waldo were to kill them all, would it not instill fear in the over thirty thousand ordinary survivors and incite a riot? This was an outcome Waldo could not afford.

Furthermore, the rebels did not have delusions of overthrowing Waldo’s ruling position; they just wanted to gain some power and improve their own situation.

Completely annihilated? Not very likely!

However, Wilcher just snorted. "You’re making too many assumptions. Things aren’t as simple as you think. What kind of person do you take Waldo for? Don’t forget, with Waldo’s power, even if the entire city were to rise against him, he could suppress them all single-handedly! If you don’t oppose Waldo, he won’t harm you? Ridiculous! Your actions are a challenge to his authority, and he won’t let you live! Just wait, in these coming days, everything will become clear. It will be a bloodbath, rivers of blood."

As Wilcher’s subordinates heard him say these words with an extremely serious expression, a tumultuous storm surged within their hearts. They knew Wilcher too well and understood that Wilcher had no reason to deceive them.

So, will everyone involved with the rebels truly be completely wiped out, killed?

The crowd fell silent, shivering all over.

This scene was too horrifying to even imagine.

Someone couldn’t believe it and stammered, "Sir, is this information accurate?"

Before the person could finish speaking, Wilcher gave him a cold, stern glare.

"Would my words be false? Let me be clear: it’s best you have no association with those people. Otherwise, if you get implicated later, it will be your own doing!"

"And, when the time comes, you will need to fight alongside me to deal with those rebels. Understand?!"

"Understood!" The crowd nodded repeatedly.

At this point, they could clearly see that Wilcher had completely sided with Waldo.

Moreover, at a time when everyone thought Waldo was oblivious, it seemed that Waldo had already fully grasped the rebels’ every move.

Waldo’s attitude towards the rebels was also clear—kill one if there’s one, kill a thousand if there are a thousand, no mercy!

Is a storm of blood and violence really about to be unleashed? 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Someone wondered.

Suddenly, they felt the air grow oppressive.

At the same time, among the rebels, the eight instigators of this turmoil gathered once again. This included the leaders of the Wind Alliance, the Red Moon Alliance, the Sky Alliance, Duncan, and others. Among them was also Greer, disguised as Waldo.

The other seven individuals probably couldn’t even dream of the fact that their greatest enemy and the one man they feared the most was currently sitting with them, discussing the matters of the rebellion.

Seeing everyone was present, Duncan spoke first.

"I think the timing is ripe. Except for a few, a significant portion of the people have been swayed by us. If we act together and raise our voices, we can definitely rally the thirty thousand survivors in Dawn City to stand with us! Waldo won’t dare to ignore us then!"

As he spoke, Duncan glanced at the Wind Alliance leader.

Wilcher was the only one among them, a controller, who was unwilling to join them. In his view, the leader of the Wind Alliance, being Wilcher’s superior, had an inescapable responsibility.

However, both sides were currently on the same front, so he couldn’t say much. He didn’t dwell on this issue too much.

Duncan paused and continued, "I believe now is the best time for us to act. While Waldo hasn’t detected our movements yet and isn’t prepared, the chances of success are the highest."

The people nodded in agreement at his words. They were well aware that, although Waldo hadn’t discovered their subtle actions so far, he wasn’t blind. It wouldn’t take long for him to notice. When that happened, their chances of success would decrease significantly.

Subsequently, everyone expressed their opinions.

"I agree with Duncan. The sooner we act, the better. We can’t wait any longer."

"Yes, based on the current situation, Wilcher from the Wind Alliance won’t be won over for sure. We must act swiftly. If we delay, he might run over to Waldo and spill the secret!"
