Chapter 292: Level 4 Abilities
Countless missiles were launched, too numerous to count. Due to the Invincible being in stealth mode and launching a sudden attack, coupled with the fact that these three warships lacked corresponding combat experience and effective interception firepower against missiles, it didn’t take long for all three warships to be hit by missiles one after another!
In an instant, raging flames erupted from the warships, billowing smoke rising into the vast sky. The weapons systems of the three warships were immediately paralyzed, rendering them helpless.
Compared to before, the Invincible had stepped up its strength considerably after being equipped with various types of missiles. Its superiority lay not only in its ultra-stealth capabilities but also in its highly advanced weapon systems. Against ordinary warships, it was almost a one-sided attack!
Before long, two escort ships were completely destroyed and sank into the ocean. Only the destroyer was struggling to hold on.
But it was evident that it couldn’t hold on for much longer!
"Damn it, attack! Counterattack! You useless lot, what are you doing? Can’t find their warship? Damn you, Waldo! How could this happen?"
In the command room, the high-ranking officials of the Radiant wore horrified and panicked expressions. They hadn’t expected Waldo to launch a direct attack against them! How dare he!
What surprised them the most was that their warships had virtually no resistance and were destroyed in an instant.
Dwayne’s face was contorted in a grimace. He had gone completely mad. He couldn’t fathom that it would end like this. In his eyes, there was boundless anger and a shade of despair.
"Damn you, Waldo! You will pay the price!" Dwayne gritted his teeth and exclaimed.
Boom! A blast echoed through the air. A vast explosion shattered the gates, and a mass of fire and light surged into the command room. In an instant, cries of agony filled the air.
It’s unclear how many high-ranking officials of the Radiant were affected, but there were numerous casualties.
Fortunately, the explosion happened nearby; otherwise, everyone would have perished. Dwayne was in a sorry state, blood seeping from the corners of his mouth. He knew he couldn’t escape now.
"Damn it! If only I knew, I wouldn’t have provoked this lunatic, Waldo! Never could have imagined Waldo is even crazier than the legends! His warship is beyond extraordinary. No wonder, no wonder he could deal with the United Fleet!"
In an instant, he had a sudden realization. However, it was too late to say or do anything now. He immediately contacted the rulers stationed on the Radiant’s Noah’s Ark.
"Hadden, I’ve encountered Waldo. I’m no match for him; I’m about to die at his hands! Remember, you must avenge me! Kill Waldo for me! But you can’t act recklessly on your own! Inform the alliance, let the League of Gods stand up for us! Avenge my grievances! Also, be careful, Waldo has a..."
Dwayne’s face contorted. He exerted all his strength, roaring at the top of his lungs.
Before he could finish his words, a missile accurately hit the command room.
Boom!
In an instant, the command room turned into a sea of fire! Those Radiant survivors struggling inside were instantly melted by the high temperatures, dying a horrible death.
With the impact of the last missile, the final destroyer finally couldn’t hold on, its entire hull splitting apart and sinking to the ocean floor.
After a long time, only the lingering smell of gunpowder in the air and the drifting smoke in the sky testified to the extremely intense one-sided naval battle that had taken place here.
In response, Waldo merely gave a cold smile.
"Although it’s been a while since I showed up, that doesn’t mean I’m powerless! Whenever it is, I, Waldo, am not someone you trash can provoke! Remember to grow a pair of eyes in your next life!"
Sinking three warships posed no challenge for the Invincible. The people on the Invincible cheered and rejoiced for a while but soon returned to their usual state.
Soon, under Calvert’s unified command, it seemed as if nothing had happened, and everything continued as usual. Everyone had clear roles, continuing to break down the sea monster. Some were tasked with extracting Source stones, while others focused on cutting the horn. Everything proceeded in an orderly manner.
In a distant part of the ocean, dozens of Noah’s Arks were gathered, surrounded by over a hundred warships on patrol. To the southeast, there was even an 80,000-ton aircraft carrier. On the carrier, fighter jets were conducting flight training.
This place was none other than the renowned location of one of the Seven Great Alliances, the Realm of Gods Alliance. Nowadays, almost the entire ocean was under the control of the Seven Great Alliances.
Among them, the Realm of Gods Alliance was the most formidable and fearsome. This was because they had control over an aircraft carrier and possessed over twenty carrier-based aircraft. Without a doubt, they were an almost invincible force.
At this moment, on the Radiant’s Noah’s Ark, the last ruler, Hadden, after receiving Dwayne’s message, immediately went to the headquarters of the Realm of Gods Alliance, which was none other than the aircraft carrier, the Realm of Gods.
"I want to see the Alliance Leader!" Hadden suppressed his grief and said to a soldier.
The soldier quickly led him to the office of the Alliance Leader of the Realm of Gods Alliance.
"What’s going on? Dwayne is on a mission. Could something unexpected have happened?"
The Alliance Leader, upon seeing Hadden’s appearance, couldn’t help but ask.
At once, tears streamed down Hadden’s face, and he wailed loudly, recounting what had happened to Dwayne, being encountered by Waldo and subsequently killed by him.
Of course, this was exaggerated and embellished.
"Such audacity from the likes of Waldo! How outrageous!"
Upon hearing Hadden’s account, the Alliance Leader was furious.
The name of Waldo was known to almost everyone, albeit for his infamous deeds that could hardly be erased. Therefore, the Alliance Leader had almost no doubt about Hadden’s accusation.
"This is absolutely outrageous! Waldo, oh Waldo, your time has long passed, yet you dare to be so brazen. Very well, very well!"
The Alliance Leader angrily exclaimed.
He then summoned the major controllers to discuss ways to deal with Waldo.
Soon, a plan was decided.
"Waldo’s strength is not to be underestimated. We will send an emissary to negotiate with him. If he knows what’s good for him and is willing to unconditionally surrender, we can spare only him. If he remains obstinate, everyone from the Dawn will be killed! The authority of the Realm of Gods Alliance is not to be challenged!"
A controller, with a ferocious expression, stated the final approach during the meeting.
As for the events within the Realm of Gods Alliance, Waldo remained entirely unaware. However, even if he had known, he wouldn’t have cared too much. While he might not measure up to the Realm of Gods Alliance in terms of overall strength and influence, given their sheer scale, he wouldn’t fear them either.
As time passed, the following day brought significant progress in the dissection of the sea monster’s corpse. Combat robots managed to penetrate deep into the monster’s head and successfully locate the Source stones.
Upon hearing this news, Waldo couldn’t contain his excitement. He hastily inquired, "How many Source stones are there?"
The combat robot immediately responded, "Reporting, Master, based on preliminary estimates, there are between three to five thousand units of Source stones!"
Upon hearing this, Waldo became even more excited. This was indeed a highly favorable outcome.
"This is an unexpectedly great harvest! Just these Source stones alone justify the use of all those missiles, time, and effort in this operation. In fact, it’s a tremendous gain!," Waldo thought to himself.
After all, missiles were an unlimited resource, constantly replenished and never depleted.
Subsequently, he ordered, "Hurry up and excavate the Source stones; I need them urgently!"
"Understood!" The combat robot promptly replied.
Compared to ordinary survivors, combat robots were tireless, had higher work efficiency, and, most importantly, were completely loyal.
Before long, by noon, the Source stones were finally excavated. After a preliminary estimation, there were at least over four thousand Source stones.
Waldo’s heart burned with excitement. Adding the previously remaining ones, there were now over five thousand. In other words, he had more than five thousand evolution points.
"Now, apart from [Flight] reaching level four, all my other abilities are still at level three. It’s been quite some time, and it’s necessary to upgrade the levels of my other abilities," Waldo contemplated.
Although, in the era of the ocean, individual strength wasn’t as crucial as it had been during the zombie era, there were still moments when personal strength was critically important.
"One’s own strength is fundamental; we must not lose sight of the essentials!" Waldo couldn’t help but itch with excitement at the thought of upgrading all his abilities to level four. Level three abilities were already very powerful. Just how terrifying would it be if all his abilities were boosted to level four?
However, after level four, it would become increasingly difficult to elevate the grades again. Waldo worried about this. He shook his head, pushing aside these thoughts, considering it premature to dwell on them.
Soon after, Waldo instructed Calvert that he needed to enter seclusion for a period to upgrade his abilities. During this time, all matters on the invincible ship would be managed by him. This included the cutting of the sea monster’s horn.
Soon, Waldo arrived in a quiet room and settled down. He looked at his attribute panel. To go from level three to four, he needed a staggering one thousand evolution points.
This was no small amount! If it weren’t for him hunting down the sea monster, who knows how long it would take to level up?
With this thought in mind, Waldo didn’t hesitate. He first upgraded the ability [Shadow Clone]! The second was [Fire Control]! The third was [Petrification]! The fourth was [Teleportation]! The fifth was [Invisibility]!
Unconsciously, the time passed into the night. Calvert was commanding combat robots and soldiers in their respective tasks while chatting with his deputy. Even Calvert had to lend a hand for Waldo.
"Captain, do you know where Waldo went?" the deputy asked curiously.
"Upgrading his abilities, probably. With so many Source stones, he can likely raise his abilities to a high level and greatly increase his strength!" Calvert replied.
The stronger Waldo became, the more secure they, his subordinates, felt. However, the deputy was still puzzled.
"But isn’t upgrading abilities a relatively quick task? Why would Waldo take so long for something seemingly simple like upgrading abilities?"
Regarding this question, Calvert shook his head in bewilderment. Perhaps Waldo had a different way of upgrading? Or maybe Waldo had some other secrets. Just as they were discussing this, the deputy suddenly pointed in a direction, astonished, "Look, isn’t that Waldo? It seems Waldo has finished upgrading!"
Calvert quickly looked in the direction pointed out. Indeed, at some point, Waldo had appeared on the other side of the invincible ship’s deck. Then, his expression subtly changed. Because, in his line of sight, multiple Waldos suddenly appeared!
No, this wasn’t Waldo. Waldo was over there! No, that’s not right either. Waldo should be over there. How could there be so many Waldos? Calvert and the deputy were dumbfounded!
In various directions of the invincible ship, there were figures of Waldo, and it was impossible to tell which ones were real. Some Waldos stood on the deck, gazing at the sea. Some sat in lounge chairs, sipping hot tea. Others appeared on the distant sea monster carcass, inspecting the work of the others.
What’s going on? Wasn’t Waldo’s ability about flight? How could he have this duplication ability too?
Calvert’s head was starting to spin. As everyone knew, each survivor could master at most one ability. However, this rule seemed not to apply to Waldo. Clearly, Waldo possessed not just one ability.
It was evident that Waldo’s mastery of abilities was definitely not limited to just one. No wonder Waldo’s individual strength was so terrifying. Waldo was indeed exceptional, not bound by the usual rules. He truly was a child of destiny!
