Chapter 282: Scattered and fleeing

Afterwards, with great reluctance, retreat orders were issued to the remaining four warships.

The remaining four warships heightened their alertness, guarding against attacks from the mysterious warship!

We’re heading back the way we came!

After the orders were given, the meeting room fell into a dead silence.

The five Commanders remained completely silent.

Especially Commander of the Power Ship, whose face was so grim it could have squeezed out water.

None of them had anticipated such an outcome.

Before they had come, they were brimming with confidence, thinking they could easily take down the Dawn Ship.

Soon after, their fleet could dominate the seas, becoming the first rulers of the maritime era, enjoying endless glory and grandeur.

However, reality had delivered a harsh slap to them!

They had barely set out before being taught a lesson by a mysterious warship.

Not only had they suffered heavy losses, but now they were forced to flee in disarray!

It was a pitiful sight.

However, it was at this moment that Avery returned to the meeting room:

"Our two helicopters have been blown up!"

Avery looked grim, his voice hoarse as he spoke.

The losses are devastating! First, a battleship was sunk, and then a large number of soldiers were silently killed by the enemy. And now, even our helicopters were destroyed on the way back! Unfortunately, we are powerless. We can’t even locate where the enemy is! There’s simply no way to retaliate! This frustration is driving us almost insane!

"Our helicopters were attacked by rockets near our destroyer upon return, and both were destroyed. Four soldiers on the aircraft perished!" Avery’s voice trembled as he spoke.

Hearing this, the five Commanders turned pale, their lips trembling with anger. At the same time, a strong sense of helplessness made them feel quite desperate.

Burke took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. Then, with a trembling voice, he said, "All units, retreat! We can’t afford to provoke that mysterious warship. Can’t we hide from them? One day, we’ll find out who they are and seek revenge! Mysterious warship? The Dawn Ship? Well, just wait! We won’t rest until we settle this score!"

Undoubtedly, for all members of the joint fleet, this day was extremely dark. They had never experienced such a significant defeat.

Their anger had already reached an extreme point. If the enemy had defeated them on the frontlines, they would have nothing to say, considering the enemy’s undeniable strength.

However, this time, the enemy didn’t play by the rules. They conducted sneak attacks in the shadows, and frustratingly, they had no way to deal with them!

It was truly exasperating!

Meanwhile, on the Invincible Ship, a different scene unfolded—a chorus of cheers filled the air!

Waldo looked at the captives on the Invincible Ship with satisfaction and said, "There are more than a hundred captives in total, well done! West, you and your team have indeed not disappointed me."

Combat robots have two advantages that survivors cannot match. The first is their teamwork. Individually, they might not be a match for survivors with levels reaching thirty or forty.

However, in a team battle, combat robots can coordinate perfectly with each other, significantly increasing their strength. Dealing with survivors is a walk in the park for them. The second point is that as long as they have sufficient energy, they won’t feel tired or pain, maintaining their peak combat effectiveness at all times.

This is something ordinary humans can’t compete with. It was precisely with these characteristics that not long ago, they successfully ambushed many survivors and took them captive through infiltration!

"Thank you for the praise, Master!" West imitated other survivors and saluted Waldo respectfully. Waldo found it amusing. "It’s only natural! You’ve done well and haven’t disappointed me."

Afterward, Waldo called for Calvert to manage these captives and prevent any disturbances. It was at this moment that he noticed the joint fleet was planning to retreat. Waldo sneered.

"Retreat? You think you can come and go as you please? Who allowed that? How ridiculous! Can you leave without my consent? Since you dared to lay hands on me, you should bear the consequences. Stay right here and face the music!"

Waldo sneered.

He naturally had no intention of letting the joint fleet escape. Their fate would be the same as that battleship previously sunk— all of them would be sunk by him and submerged in the depths of the ocean!

"Everyone, be prepared. Make sure to leave none of them behind!" Waldo ordered.

With Waldo’s command, the Invincible Ship began its pursuit. At some point within the joint fleet, a sense of fear and unease began to spread. The mysterious warship was just too cunning and unpredictable. Everyone feared they could be the next target at any moment.

This fear even affected the captains of the four remaining warships. According to Burke’s orders, the four warships should have stayed closely together, forming a special formation to avoid being ambushed. But the captains were unaware of this.

Once the retreat began, each captain ordered their warship to accelerate, causing the distances between them to widen drastically. There was a sense of panicked flight.

In reality, the soldiers on these warships were just ordinary survivors who hadn’t received any military training and lacked military knowledge aside from their levels and unique abilities.

They were essentially a group of irregulars. Consequently, this fleet in disarray revealed its vulnerabilities not long after.

The slowest battleship fell far behind, becoming Waldo’s primary target. "Fire torpedoes, sink it!" The distance between the two was very close now.

When the Invincible Ship fired torpedoes, the battleship had no time to react. Even if they had, they couldn’t mount an effective response.

Boom!

Boom!

Amidst the deafening explosions, countless voices wailed on the battleship. The immense blast set the sky ablaze with fiery red hues. Not long after, the massive ship capsized into the vast ocean.

Having successfully sunk one battleship, there were now two warships remaining. Waldo was in high spirits. He ordered an acceleration of pursuit. Simultaneously, he once again launched torpedoes, targeting the escort ship in the front.

This escort ship had taken precautions and managed to evade one torpedo. However, it couldn’t evade the second one!

Boom!

The escort ship was hit, and its speed instantly decreased. A significant amount of thick smoke billowed from its stern, rising into the sky.
