Chapter 248: Unscrupulous merchant
Finally, he sent a direct message to the other person.
"Hey, your instant noodle prices are a bit high, can you make them cheaper? If they’re more affordable, I can buy a large quantity. What do you think?" Craig asked sincerely.
If the price was lowered, he wouldn’t mind buying more. After all, the future was uncertain, and having some stocked up for occasional consumption wouldn’t hurt.
However, Craig waited and waited but received no response from the other person.
"What’s wrong with this guy? Normally, he should have seen my private message right away. Plus, it’s daytime, so he shouldn’t be sleeping. Why isn’t he replying to me?" Craig thought, growing increasingly impatient.
In an instant, Craig had many thoughts racing through his mind. The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.
He eventually sent a barrage of over a dozen messages.
"Speak up!"
"Is this how you treat customers?"
"Are you even in business?"
"Believe me, I can file a complaint against you!"
Finally, the other person replied.
"The instant noodle prices are already very low. How much more do you want? Don’t be so greedy!"
At that moment, Waldo was scolding Alanna.
This girl had just flirted with him, and although it was daytime, such behavior deserved punishment. Otherwise, she would become even more audacious in the future.
Unexpectedly, at this critical moment, some idiot kept sending him private messages.
Waldo was furious, and he wished he could tear the person into pieces.
"Damn, interrupting my fun!"
What was even more infuriating was that Alanna took this opportunity to escape from his grasp.
Seeing the other person’s provoking expression, Waldo was beside himself with anger.
He then responded to Craig, albeit somewhat stiffly.
After replying, he couldn’t resist making a sarcastic comment.
"For heaven’s sake, five experience points for a box of instant noodles is already quite cheap, okay? And you come here complaining it’s too expensive? Ridiculous!"
From the beginning, he had tried to keep the trading price of the instant noodles as low as possible, at just five experience points per box. In his opinion, this price was fair and transparent. But who would have thought someone would ask for an even lower price?
Waldo: Are you freaking insane?
Following this, to prevent anyone from disturbing him further, Waldo simply turned off his message notifications.
At this moment, Waldo was unaware that he had mistakenly set the price at fifty experience points instead of five.
He was currently casting a sinister gaze at Alanna.
"Heh heh, you can’t escape today! Since you provoked me, you’ll have to pay the price!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Waldo charged toward the terrified Alanna.
"Alanna, run! He’s coming!" Helen shouted, trying to warn her friend.
However, Alanna couldn’t escape from Waldo’s clutches, and he took matters into his own hands.
In the end, even Helen got caught up in the chaos and was devoured by Waldo.
Craig, on the other hand, looked at Waldo’s response with bewilderment.
"Damn, fifty experience points for a box of instant noodles, isn’t that cheap? Are you seriously calling it expensive?"
Craig couldn’t believe that Waldo had the audacity to call it cheap. He wanted to ask the guy if he even knew how much fifty experience points were worth. It was equivalent to killing fifty regular zombies or more than twenty level-two zombies, or over ten level-three zombies. Wasn’t that a lot?
Forget it, I won’t argue with someone like you.
Craig sighed in resignation. He figured that this guy was just trying to make a quick profit.
"Alright, I’ll buy it this once. At most, I’ll get ripped off once!"
In the end, Craig couldn’t resist and purchased a box of instant noodles.
At the same time, besides Waldo, there were others who noticed that instant noodles were listed on the trading platform. However, when they saw the high prices, many were taken aback.
When people stocked up on supplies, they typically didn’t buy just one or two boxes. The common practice was to purchase hundreds of boxes of supplies in one go, which could last them a long time.
However, with a price tag of fifty experience points for just one box, it was simply unaffordable for them. Besides, the cost-effectiveness of instant noodles was not very high. What made them truly appealing was their taste. They were considered a decent occasional treat.
Many people shared the sentiment that they were too expensive and wished they were more affordable. In the end, they gave up on the idea of buying in bulk but couldn’t resist satisfying their cravings by making smaller purchases.
Soon, a night had passed, and it was the second day. Waldo decided to turn over a new leaf from this moment on, bidding farewell to the laziness of the past few days and aiming to keep himself busy.
Speaking of which, he had accumulated ten survival points recently, allowing him to draw from the Infinite Supplies twice. Waldo thought to himself, "Let’s see what I can get this time."
With that in mind, he entered the interface for the Infinite Supplies draw and thought, "Let’s do this!"
Waldo always had a bit of anticipation when it came to drawing, but at the same time, he knew not to expect too much since the rewards were random.
In quick succession, Waldo drew two Infinite Supplies Chests.
He silently prayed, hoping for a pleasant surprise. Then, he opened the first Infinite Supplies Chest.
"Congratulations! You have obtained an Infinite Surfboard!"
In the next moment, a board approximately two meters long and sixty centimeters wide appeared before Waldo’s eyes.
"A surfboard?" Waldo felt slightly disappointed. "My luck isn’t great, it’s only a silver-level surfboard. Nevertheless, it seems to have some practical value. We are currently on the ocean, and a surfboard can be quite useful. Whether for personal use or trading with other survivors, it’s a decent source of entertainment."
As he thought about this, Waldo’s gaze took on a different light, akin to a hungry wolf spotting a lamb.
The second Infinite Supplies Chest!
After obtaining the surfboard from the first chest, Waldo couldn’t help but look forward to what the second Infinite Supplies Chest might contain. He didn’t need anything particularly special; something practical would suffice, at least for trading purposes.
With eager anticipation, Waldo opened the second Infinite Supplies Chest.
"Congratulations! You have obtained Infinite Cola!"
The system announcement played, and Waldo was momentarily stunned.
"What? Cola?"
Waldo couldn’t believe his eyes. It was indeed a bottle of cola!
"This is one heck of a beverage," he exclaimed.
Cola was a highly popular and best-selling drink.
"Damn!" Waldo pulled out a bottle of cola and took a big sip.
The taste was indescribable, familiar, and unforgettable.
Waldo couldn’t help but smile. He took another sip, finishing the entire bottle in one go.
At that moment, Alanna and Helen were both by Waldo’s side.
They were taken aback when he suddenly produced a bottle of beverage because the bottle looked oddly familiar. However, time had passed, and they couldn’t quite place where they had seen it before. When they saw Waldo drinking it with an expression of satisfaction, they finally recognized it.
"Hey, you have cola? I want some too!" Alanna couldn’t resist.
She snatched a bottle from Waldo, only to find it empty, her eyes filled with disappointment.
"Don’t worry, I have plenty of these!" Waldo chuckled and pulled out several more bottles of cola.
"Ah, this taste, it’s so refreshing!" Alanna exclaimed after taking a big gulp, displaying a satisfied expression.
This got Helen and Waldo laughing heartily.
Waldo suddenly smiled mysteriously and said, "Perhaps I’ve found a new business opportunity, hehe."
The business opportunity he mentioned was the cola he had just obtained.
Helen nodded thoughtfully and said with a smile, "Indeed, cola could potentially be a best-selling product. After all, no matter how you look at it, cola used to dominate the beverage market, and many people like it!"
Waldo nodded. "Of course. I don’t believe that these guys, after being away from cola for so long, can resist it when they see it again!"
After saying that, Waldo added mysteriously, "And I have an ace up my sleeve!"
This statement immediately piqued the curiosity of the two women.
"What ace?" they asked.
"Cola with instant noodles is the perfect combination!" Waldo explained. "Most survivors might resist the temptation of instant noodles or cola individually, but they definitely won’t resist the temptation of cola and instant noodles together! After having a bowl of noodles, take a sip of cola. It’s absolutely amazing!"
Waldo had a hunch that cola and instant noodles would attract a significant amount of trading.
Just then, Waldo remembered something.
Yesterday afternoon, someone had inquired whether he could lower the price of the instant noodles.
He was speechless. They complained about the price when it was only five experience points. Now that he had raised it to ten experience points, it was like they were robbing his ancestors’ graves.
Waldo couldn’t help but shake his head at the thought.
Curious, he opened the trading platform and discovered that all the forty-plus boxes of instant noodles he had listed were gone; someone had bought them all.
"Indeed, this price is quite low. Instant noodles are still popular," Waldo thought.
However, the next moment, his expression turned strange because he noticed something unexpected.
Under the listed products, there were numerous comments from buyers, accusing him of price gouging and claiming that instant noodles were too expensive.
These comments left Waldo bewildered. He began to seriously question himself, wondering if ten experience points were considered expensive. It was clearly quite cheap, wasn’t it?
