Chapter 223: Re-entering the West District
In the center of the West District.
The most profound change here for Waldo is that the environment has become cleaner than before.
Yes, that’s right, it has become cleaner.
Previously, just like the rest of the West District, this place was filled with trash everywhere. In corners and all around, there were decaying animal or other life forms’ corpses, and the environment couldn’t have been worse. However, when Waldo returned once again, he found that this place had undergone a major transformation, much cleaner than before.
The dirt and garbage had been mostly cleared away. This was one of the biggest changes. And besides this, there was another significant change.
That was the reduced number of nearby zombies. The remaining zombies were all uniform third-level zombies. Moreover, these somewhat intelligent third-level zombies were not in a state of complete disorder.
They had actually formed patrol teams, patrolling the area. Any lower-intelligence second-level zombies or ordinary zombies that tried to approach this area were threatened and driven away by the third-level zombies.
Waldo’s expression turned serious.
The intelligence of a fifth-level zombie lord was quite high, not inferior to humans at all. And in some aspects, it seemed to be learning from humans.
This was the most terrifying part. If left unchecked, the fifth-level zombie lord might take complete control of the entire City No. 25 in the near future! At this moment, Waldo’s determination to hunt it down became even stronger.
"Very well, moving Source Stones, here I come!"
Afterward, Waldo smiled slightly, but his eyes were filled with coldness and a spreading intent to kill.
Soon, using his ability, "Invisibility," Waldo once again ascended the building. And he entered the laboratory where he had previously discovered the zombie lord.
However, to Waldo’s surprise, he did not find the zombie lord. Even the five fourth-level zombies were nowhere to be seen. How could this be? Where did they go?
Waldo frowned.
He wanted to search for the zombie lord but found he didn’t know how to locate it. Moreover, time was running out, and he couldn’t afford to spend too much time searching for the zombie lord.
At this thought, he knew he had to come up with a plan. Soon, an idea appeared in his mind.
Very well! Since I can’t find you, then I’ll let you find me!
Waldo smirked coldly. Since he couldn’t locate the zombie lord, he decided to go on a rampage and slaughter the third-level zombies in this area.
He couldn’t believe that with so many third-level zombies, equivalent to the Imperial Guards, being killed, the fourth-level and even fifth-level zombies wouldn’t come out to stop him.
With this determination in mind, Waldo acted decisively. He drew his Critical Strike Warrior Blade and swung it directly at one of the nearby third-level zombies.
One swing!
Roar!
The third-level zombie, which had been patrolling inside the building, let out a howl, and its head was instantly severed by Waldo.
Splat! Blood gushed out in abundance. A third-level zombie was easily killed by Waldo, almost effortlessly.
Roar!
Upon witnessing its companion’s death, another third-level zombie immediately roared in anger. However, what puzzled it was that it couldn’t identify the killer because Waldo had been concealed the entire time. The zombie was bewildered, as it seemed to be searching for the source of the attack.
Where is the human? Where did it go? Is it a fake?
The third-level zombie was completely baffled.
Waldo, seeing this, smirked coldly. He then canceled his invisibility and appeared right in front of the third-level zombie.
Roar!
In an instant, the third-level zombie glared at Waldo with its huge dark-green eyes, bared its fangs, and charged towards him.
"Overestimating yourself!"
Waldo moved with incredible speed, almost too fast to be seen clearly. His Critical Strike Warrior Blade swung like lightning, the movements too swift for the eye to follow, leaving only residual afterimages.
Then, there was a sharp sound!
Waldo came to a halt, turned, and walked away in another direction. In that direction, the sounds of footsteps and the roars of zombies grew louder. Evidently, the commotion here had been sensed by other third-level zombies who were converging on this location.
The zombie that had just attacked Waldo remained in place but now motionless. Its eyes had lost their luster. If one looked closely, they would notice a tiny crack on the zombie’s body, starting from its forehead and extending all the way down to its feet.
As soon as Waldo moved further away...
Crack!
The zombie’s body split in two and collapsed on the ground. This third-level zombie had been cleaved into perfect halves by Waldo with a single strike!
This level of power was simply terrifying! It wasn’t just a matter of overpowering; it was a complete mismatch in power. The two sides were on entirely different levels.
Waldo appeared at a corner, just then a roar came from around the bend.
Roar!
A third-level zombie suddenly appeared and lunged at Waldo. Waldo remained calm, without a hint of panic, and didn’t even glance at it.
"Go die."
Waldo said in a nonchalant tone, as if he were talking about something of no importance.
Of course, one could only speak this way when facing a third-level zombie. After all, no matter how you put it, third-level zombies were formidable creatures.
Other survivors had to be extra cautious when facing them. In fact, most survivors couldn’t defeat a third-level zombie. All the confidence was actually built on a foundation of great strength.
As Waldo’s words fell,
At this moment, the third-level zombie had already closed in.
Approaching closer to Waldo,
Five meters!
Three meters!
One meter!
Only half a meter remained!
Just in this critical moment, Waldo finally moved!
Waldo raised his right leg, exerted force, and kicked directly into the chest of the third-level zombie!
Boom!
Instantly, a muffled sound.
The once robust body of the third-level zombie suddenly made the sound of bones breaking.
Its chest also collapsed in this instant, forcefully concaving into its back.
In an instant, the zombie was sent flying.
The speed at which it flew out was several times faster than its approach.
Crash!
Under the powerful kinetic energy, it directly smashed through a wall.
The zombie turned into a pile of mush, deader than dead!
"Now, third-level zombies appear too weak in front of me, not much different from regular zombies," Waldo thought to himself.
Suddenly, Waldo came to a stop.
He looked toward the end of the corridor.
There, a silver fourth-level zombie had appeared.
"One that can put up a fight."
Waldo smiled faintly.
Then, he went straight in for the kill!
