Chapter 7: Chapter 7: You Just Wait
But the fireball that was supposed to be his seemed to be out of his control, hurtling straight toward him. His connection with the Fire Element was severed in an instant.
Harrison Donovan felt an inexplicable fear—the fear of the powerful and the unknown... but his long-held position of superiority had cultivated an arrogant and spoiled nature.
Extreme indignation and anger filled his heart. He struggled to his feet, glared fiercely at the still-pristine Lily Hart, and spat out, "You just wait! I’m going to get my brother!"
"Hurry along, little trash." Lily Hart waved at him, her expression serene.
Hearing her provocative words, Harrison Donovan stumbled and nearly fell. He desperately wanted to trade insults with her for three hundred rounds, but then he remembered the uncontrollable fireball.
Fear welled up inside him. He held it in, quickened his pace, and left only a dejected figure for the crowd to see as he scurried away.
Once he was completely out of sight, Lily Hart slid the partition shut. ’Seriously,’ she thought. ’Nothing in the world is more important than a meal!’
The crowd of onlookers immediately burst into jeers. They never thought they’d live to see the day Harrison Donovan was bested. However, he was definitely going back for reinforcements.
The Base Commander was a Level 3 Superpower User, not someone so easily trifled with.
After sparing another second of pity for the young woman, the crowd gradually dispersed. After all, it was the hottest few months of the year, and high noon at that. What were they going to do, go out and kill zombies instead of napping?!
There was no air conditioning in the RV, but it wasn’t hot either. The temperature remained constant, unaffected by the outside world.
Having earned over two thousand points in a single morning, Lily Hart was grinning from ear to ear.
Apocalypse or not, people were addicted to this kind of unknown, challenging gameplay with its incredibly high reward ceiling.
She kicked up her feet, sitting with a swagger in the driver’s seat, and casually scrolled through the shop, trying to decide what to eat for lunch.
Just then, the system suddenly announced: [Congratulations, Host, on successfully reaching Level 2. The shop’s spending limit is now one thousand, and more functions have been unlocked. We welcome you to explore.]
Lily Hart then checked the leveling rules. Level 1 required 100 points, Level 2 was 1,000 points, and Level 3 was 10,000 points.
With each level up, you just had to add a zero to the required points. Lily Hart didn’t think it was difficult at all.
After all, she sold a single scratch ticket for 50 points. This morning alone, she had earned over two thousand points.
When some people started scratching, their eyes would turn red, their brains would turn off, and they would just go on and on.
As long as they still had Crystal Cores on them, they could keep scratching. And even if they ran out of Crystal Cores, they could always borrow from someone else, couldn’t they?
Taking a closer look, she saw that a food category had been unlocked. Hot pot, barbecue, the eight major Chinese cuisines, Japanese, Korean, French—she could choose anything as long as she had enough points.
Lily Hart also discovered that food in the shop was particularly expensive. A simple boxed meal with one meat and one vegetable dish cost 10 points. Can you believe it?
But she had always been the type to live for the moment. If she wanted to eat something, she had to eat it, otherwise the craving would keep her up at night.
She clicked on the hot pot category and selected a single-person set meal that included almost all her favorite dishes. When she saw the price, she nearly fainted.
588!
’I’d have to sell twelve scratch tickets just to break even. Oh, good heavens.’
’Whatever! I’m eating!’
Lily Hart placed the order decisively. ’Worst case, I’ll just sell a few more this afternoon. I can’t possibly let my own precious mouth suffer, can I?’
A minute after the order was confirmed, a flash of white light appeared, and a dining table, complete with pots, bowls, and utensils, materialized before her.
In the middle of the table was a half-and-half hot pot, the broth already boiling. It was her favorite combination: spicy and clear.
A full array of seasonings was laid out to the side, and the entire table was laden with ingredients.
Lily Hart mixed her favorite dipping sauce, added some of her favorite shrimp paste and meat to the pot, then turned on the light screen and found a variety show to watch.
The RV’s interior was a pleasant, stable temperature. She watched the variety show, ate her hot pot, and drank a soda. Life couldn’t get any better.
Little did she know, a man was crouching outside her RV. He pressed his face close to a crack in the door, sniffing hard, a look of pure bliss on his face.
He muttered, "So fragrant... what is that smell?"
Someone passing by came over and asked curiously, "You and your dog nose, what have you sniffed out now?"
This person’s superpower was his sense of smell, which was several times more sensitive than a normal person’s. Many faint scents couldn’t escape his nose.
Lily Hart’s RV was well-insulated for both sound and smell, but who could have predicted she’d run into a superpower user like this?
"Shh! Smell that. Such a fragrant meat aroma." The olfactory superpower user was practically glued to the door in fascination, sniffing hard at the tiny gap.
The other man heard "meat aroma" and immediately swallowed, eagerly leaning in for a sniff. But he couldn’t smell a thing.
He only caught the scent of the RV’s fuel tank. ’This broad has a vehicle and fuel? She must be pretty capable.’
Since he couldn’t smell anything, he shot an envious glance at the olfactory superpower user, then walked away, bored.
Leaving only the olfactory superpower user plastered to the RV door.
Lily Hart, oblivious to all this, was bent over laughing at the variety show, almost choking.
The hot pot feast lasted a full hour and a half. Lily Hart stuffed the last bite of food into her mouth, rubbed her belly, and sighed, "I’m so full..."
Then, she tapped "Complete" on the hot pot order page. A flash of white light swept away the dining table, along with the entire messy aftermath.
She clapped her hands in satisfaction. ’So nice. I don’t even have to wash the dishes.’
She rested for a while, intending to finish the last segment of the variety show, but as she watched, sleepiness crept up on her.
She fought off the drowsiness long enough to take a shower and wash the lingering scent of hot pot off her body before climbing into bed for a nap.
When Lily Hart woke up, it was almost four o’clock. She changed her clothes, yawned, and slid open the partition, letting a faint scent of hot pot base drift out.
Lily Hart was arranging the books of scratch tickets on the window-side table when she caught a glimpse of a figure in her peripheral vision.
She leaned out to get a better look. ’Whoa, someone fell asleep crouching by my door?!’
Lily Hart casually pulled out a stick, reached out, and poked the person’s head. But the moment it made contact, he whipped around.
It startled Lily Hart, but he was the one who spoke first, pre-emptively. "What are you doing? What do you want?"
"I should be asking you that! What are you doing, skulking around my doorstep?" Lily Hart put her hands on her hips, her voice full of righteous indignation.
The man immediately fell silent, then stammered, "I... I was just smelling the smells. Is that not allowed?"
’Smelling the smells?’ Lily Hart thought. ’Is that a new profession or something?’
Though she didn’t get it, her imposing aura didn’t diminish. "If you’re going to smell, then smell openly! Being so sneaky about it, anyone who didn’t know better would think you were a thief!"
Before the man could say anything, Lily Hart said impatiently, "I can’t be bothered with you. I’m opening for business!"
As if she had triggered some kind of keyword, the man shot to his feet, tilted his head back, and yelled at the top of his lungs.
"The scratch ticket stand is open—" His voice boomed.
Lily Hart was taken aback and stared at him, speechless. "Hey, excuse me, what do you think you’re doing?"
She didn’t even need his answer. Soon enough, Lily Hart understood what was happening, as people began to emerge from all over the base and form an orderly line in front of her window.
