Chapter 65: Chapter 65: I Can’t Stand Him
Just one look told Lily Hart he wanted a favor. She put on an act, crossing her arms and propping one leg over the other. "What is it?"
Frost Shaw leaned down, their heads growing close for a moment. He whispered, "Boss Hart, I can’t buy furniture from my side."
Lily Hart got it. His version of "Lily Hart’s Convenience Store" only had food for sale, with no option for furniture.
"Fine, but you’re paying with your own points." Lily Hart navigated her Light Brain to the furniture category and shared her screen with him.
Frost Shaw called over the little ones, and they huddled together to pick out beds.
Of course, they couldn’t be too expensive!
Roman Rowe shamelessly sidled over and, with lightning speed, added a large 1.8-meter bed to the cart.
Frost Shaw only realized after paying with his points. By then, it was too late, so he had no choice but to drag Roman Rowe outside for a thorough beating.
’I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time. I can’t stand the sight of him, always sticking to Boss Hart like glue!’
’If anyone’s going to be her shadow, it should be me!’ Frost Shaw thought resentfully as he laid into him, showing no mercy.
After the beating, the two returned to the RV as if nothing had happened, arms slung around each other’s shoulders. Lily Hart saw them and asked, "Where did you go?"
Roman Rowe started to complain, "Frost Shaw just—MMMPH—" His mouth was instantly covered.
Frost Shaw said flatly, "We were just bonding."
’What kind of damn bonding do you and I need to do?!’ Roman Rowe fumed internally. But he couldn’t win in a fight... so he had no choice but to submit.
"Oh," Lily Hart said. "I’m heading up. You guys should get going."
Frost Shaw agreed, leading his group back to the second floor of the convenience store. They took the chance to place the newly purchased beds in their respective rooms.
But they needed more than just beds. There were all sorts of other things: pillows, sheets, toothbrushes, toothpaste...
To make things easier, Frost Shaw bought the same for everyone. Boys, girls—it made no difference to him.
Once they bought these daily necessities and placed them in the bedrooms and bathroom, it actually started to feel like a warm and cozy home.
Frost Shaw checked every corner, making sure nothing was missed and that there were no hidden dangers, before finally going to wash up.
When he returned to his room after his shower, he found someone sprawled brazenly on his bed. A closer look revealed it was freaking Roman Rowe!
Frost Shaw hauled him up, ready to toss him out the window, but Roman Rowe said something that made him freeze.
"You have a crush on Boss Hart," Roman Rowe said, his tone certain.
Frost Shaw faltered, a flash of panic crossing his face. Then, without a moment’s hesitation, he opened the window and tossed him out.
"Get lost," Frost Shaw snapped.
After closing the window, he raised a hand to touch his burning ears and sat on the edge of the bed for a long while, trying to calm down.
He kept replaying what Roman Rowe had said. It seemed he really did feel something different for Boss Hart.
For example, wanting to be her shadow, feeling annoyed when others got close to her...
The more Frost Shaw thought about it, the hotter his cheeks grew. He quickly suppressed his spiraling thoughts.
Everyone slept well that night—except for Frost Shaw. When he appeared before the others with dark circles under his eyes...
Lily Hart couldn’t help but ask, "Didn’t sleep well? Couldn’t get used to the new bed?"
Frost Shaw’s gaze darted away. He didn’t answer her directly, just casually mumbling, "Mhm."
She shrugged, giving him a strange look. ’Why are his ears so red?’
It wasn’t that she was trying to stare, but his ears were just so red. Paired with his innocent face, he looked like someone had given him a really hard time.
’If I don’t ask, he won’t say anything. But hey, the moment I ask, won’t the floodgates open?!’
Lily Hart thought this was a great idea, so she asked again, "What’s wrong with you? Didn’t get a good rest?"
Well, what do you know—Frost Shaw just bolted.
This only made Lily Hart more curious. Just then, Roman Rowe sauntered over, hands in his pockets, looking around as if he owned the place.
She grabbed Roman Rowe and asked, "What’s up with Frost Shaw?"
Having been thrown out the window last night, Roman Rowe, though unharmed, was still fuming. He just snorted, "Ask him yourself."
’What’s with these two? Both so touchy, huh?’
She couldn’t be bothered to press the issue. Suppressing her curiosity, she got ready to open for business.
It was still early. Seeing no customers, Lily Hart went ahead and ordered twenty "Big 7" scratch-offs and five of each of the other three types.
She leisurely ordered a hash brown, a panini, and some soy milk, and began to eat with a great sense of ceremony.
The little ones got up one after another and very conscientiously came to the RV to greet her.
Seeing them, Lily Hart figured they had to eat breakfast. With a wave of her hand, she ordered five more breakfasts, the same as her own.
Roman Rowe came over to get in on the action, staring at her with pleading eyes. Lily Hart heartlessly refused. "Go take a hike."
When it came to holding a grudge, she was a pro, and revenge was a dish best served immediately.
Roman Rowe immediately plopped down next to her, grabbing her elbow and shaking it. "C’mon, Boss Hart, I’ll tell you."
Lily Hart turned her head away with a huff. "I’m not listening."
Roman Rowe moved to her other side and tried the same trick. Looking at his swaying blond hair, Lily Hart couldn’t help but let out a laugh.
"Fine, talk," Lily Hart said haughtily.
"So, last night..." Just as Roman Rowe was about to whisper his secret, the hand of fate seized him by the neck.
He, along with his chair, was thrown clean out of the RV. After a brief moment of shock, he recovered with lightning speed.
In a flash, he adjusted his posture and landed on the ground, still sitting perfectly steady in his chair.
He stood up, planted his hands on his hips, and roared at Frost Shaw, "You’re shameless!"
The little ones stuck their tongues out at him, made funny faces, and took a huge bite of their hash browns.
This made Roman Rowe’s mouth water. The aroma of fried potatoes drifted right to him, making him so hungry that he lost the energy to stay angry. He could only trudge back with his head hung low.
Frost Shaw paid him no mind, dusting his hands off with satisfaction. He walked around Lily Hart to sit on her other side, her gaze following him the whole way. "Why are you bullying Roman Rowe?"
"..." Silence. A long silence. "He annoys me."
A perfectly good reason. Lily Hart was speechless. Just then, a customer arrived to buy scratch-offs.
The newcomer drew everyone’s attention, and the hand Frost Shaw had been using to grip his hash brown quietly relaxed. He let out a long sigh of relief.
The newcomer had delicate features and wore a filthy baseball cap that completely obscured his eyes. His voice matched his appearance—refined, with a hint of shyness.
"Can I get scratch-offs here?" He was surprisingly polite.
"That’s right. One Level 1 Crystal Core each," Diana Sharp chirped, a small figure perched on a high stool as she served him.
Lily Hart glanced over. He was very thin and frail. His clothes, though old, were passably clean, but small details still hinted at a life of scarcity.
He showed no intention of buying, however, and just kept asking questions. "What kind of prizes can you win? Can you redeem them right away? You won’t just run away if I win a big prize, will you? Is there any guarantee?"
This barrage of questions left Diana Sharp completely stunned. All the customers she had met so far had been decisive, buying and scratching immediately. At most, they just asked the price.
This was the first time she had encountered someone with so many questions, but she still intended to answer each one patiently.
Lily Hart stood up, hash brown in hand, and walked over to Diana Sharp, putting an arm around her.
