Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Being a Flower Vase

They chattered noisily, jostling for a spot at the broken window to get a look at the RV.

"Whoa, so many hot girls. Are they all women from Bloomfall Base?"

"Obviously. We see them coming and going every day, dressed all slutty. Who knows who they’re trying to seduce!"

"So where did that RV come from?"

"Who knows? The boss said we’re going to snatch it tonight. It’ll be ours then!"

"It’s just one RV. How are we gonna split it?"

"What if it belongs to some high-ranking expert?"

"Who cares? The boss says we grab it, we grab it. It’s not like this is our first time, anyway."

Their gazes were lecherous, as if the women were mere dolls for sale, and they sized them up from head to toe.

"Hey, hey, hey, look at that one! She’s gorgeous! So fair-skinned she’s practically glowing!"

"I see her! She’s inside the RV. You think she’s the owner?"

"Her? At best, she’s probably the owner’s maid, right? She’s pretty, sure, but how could a woman own an RV?!"

"Why do you think so many people are crowded around the RV?"

"Who knows? Maybe they’re all eager to be servants?"

"HAHAHAHAHA..." The comment was met with a roar of laughter.

Zeke Lowell clapped his hands, drawing everyone’s attention. "Listen up. Once it gets dark, we’ll..."

Completely unaware of all this, Lily Hart even felt that business was a bit slow, so she brought out the lotto machine.

Perhaps it was because Bloomfall Base didn’t have a large population, but either way, she felt more relaxed than ever. ’It’s just so pleasant hanging out with the girls...’

Natalie Thorne immediately scooted over, looking at it curiously from all angles. "What’s this, Boss Hart?"

Lily Hart just smiled without a word and pulled up the prize redemption record from the people at Hope Base that morning. The first prize was five hundred Crystal Cores!

Most importantly, a single ticket cost only one Crystal Core. The get-rich-quick potential stunned Natalie Thorne and the other women.

"I want to buy one!" Natalie Thorne declared without hesitation.

The other two women also raised their hands, afraid they’d miss out if they were a second too late.

Lily Hart beamed. "Buy, buy, buy! Everyone gets one!"

’Only she knew that over a thousand people had bought lotto tickets yesterday. Besides, she didn’t even have to pay the prize money herself. It was a pure, can’t-lose profit!’

The excitement over here also attracted the people buying scratch-offs. One look and one listen, and they were instantly hooked.

Buy! Everyone’s buying!

Lily Hart said, "You can also double your bet. For example, if you buy one ticket and want to double it, just add another Crystal Core, and so on."

"Of course, the prize money doubles too~ The base first prize is five hundred Crystal Cores. If you double it, well, you can imagine!"

’Wouldn’t doubling it mean a thousand Crystal Cores?’

Oh my god!

Good grief, she was suddenly swamped, but for some reason, Lily Hart was starting to enjoy the feeling.

It was mainly watching the numbers for her points tick up, one by one. The sense of accomplishment and satisfaction was off the charts!

Lily Hart and Diana Sharp greeted the customers together, both of them happily swamped with work.

At the convenience store not far away, customer traffic also hit a peak after the Base Commander personally promoted it.

Fortunately, a few kids were helping restock the shelves and handle point redemptions; otherwise, Frost Shaw really wouldn’t have been able to manage on his own.

It was all manual labor—not very high-tech at all.

They stayed busy like this until noon. As soon as it struck twelve, Lily Hart promptly raised a hand and announced, "Alright, alright, that’s it for the morning. The boss is hungry, it’s time for lunch."

Some people laughed, finished scratching the tickets in their hands, and left, reminding Lily Hart to be sure to open again in the afternoon.

But one person glared at her, roaring in displeasure, "The customer is God! Some of us don’t even have food to eat, so what gives you the right to eat?!"

Lily Hart glanced over at him. It was a man she didn’t recognize. She pulled up his purchase history on her Light Brain. ’Well, look at that. He bought a single ticket and hasn’t even finished scratching it.’

’What kind of "God" is he? Besides, around here...’

"You’re jack shit. I’m the one who’s God here. Scratch it if you want, or get the hell out!" Lily Hart shot him an impatient glare.

"You! You! You crooked shop owner! How dare you kick a customer out!" the man stammered, furious.

He turned and shouted to the onlookers, "Everyone, look! This crooked shop owner told a customer to get lost! This is outrageous!"

The other customers just stared at him like he was an idiot. They all had eyes and ears; they knew who had been rude first.

Natalie Thorne even added, "Yeah, why don’t you get lost!"

With someone taking the lead, the crowd began to condemn him. "Exactly, hurry up and get out of here!"

"All you know is how to stir up trouble. You’ll be sorry when Boss Hart decides not to set up shop here anymore!"

"Get lost, get lost! Don’t ruin Boss Hart’s appetite for lunch!"

Seeing this, the man grew even angrier. Not a single person was on his side. He had no choice but to leave with a foolish parting shot. "Just you wait! One day this boss will sell you all out, and you’ll still be counting the money for her!"

Natalie Thorne scoffed and broke into a grin. "I happen to love counting money. Is that any of your business?"

The man fled in disgrace. The other customers turned to her. "Boss Hart, don’t listen to his nonsense. You’re still opening this afternoon, right~"

Lily Hart nodded and promised, "Definitely, definitely." ’As if I’d let that get to me,’ she thought.

Only then did everyone relax and head home, not forgetting to buy some snacks and spicy sticks when they passed the convenience store.

A warm, reassuring feeling spread through them. It was strangely like being back in the civilized era. ’This feeling of being able to just buy things whenever you want is amazing!’

After all the customers had trickled away, Lily Hart stretched lazily, slung an arm around Diana Sharp, and asked in a commanding tone, "What do you want to eat?"

"Hot pot! The same kind as last night!" Roman Rowe popped out of nowhere and chimed in.

Lily Hart shot him a glare. "I wasn’t asking you. You disappear all morning, but the second it’s time to eat, you show up? You think this is a cafeteria?"

Roman Rowe’s eyes went wide, and he looked rather wronged. He gestured wildly. "You’ve got it all wrong, Boss Hart! You told me to scram, and now I’ve scrammed my way back!"

After speaking, he blinked his sparkling eyes and fixed his gaze on Lily Hart.

Lily Hart turned her head away, reached out to cover his eyes, and said with resignation, "Fine, fine, fine. We’ll eat. We’ll eat hot pot!"

’Who could understand? She had zero resistance to handsome guys and pretty girls, especially when he was acting like a golden retriever, wagging his tail and looking at her with those bright eyes.’

Roman Rowe’s vision went dark. A faint, fresh scent filled his nostrils, and his mind suddenly went blank.

When Frost Shaw arrived, this was the scene that greeted him: Lily Hart’s fair, delicate hand covering Roman Rowe’s eyes, a stark contrast to his slightly tanner skin.

For some reason, Frost Shaw was instantly displeased. He had a strong urge to beat the crap out of Roman Rowe.

He boarded the RV and, without a word, walked over to Roman Rowe, pulling him back slightly. Lily Hart casually withdrew her hand, and Frost Shaw successfully positioned himself between the two of them.

"What’s for lunch?" Frost Shaw asked casually.

"Hot pot!" Roman Rowe exclaimed excitedly.

"Roman Rowe said he wants hot pot," Lily Hart said flatly.

The two of them spoke at the same time. Frost Shaw’s heart tightened as he shot a sharp glare at Roman Rowe, who remained blissfully unaware, lost in the joy of the impending hot pot.

Lily Hart put her hands on her hips, looking from Frost Shaw to Roman Rowe. ’One’s an underage brat, the other is a childish golden retriever of a man. Not a single reliable one in the bunch!’

’But at least they’re good-looking. They make excellent eye candy.’
