Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Kill Her

The camera feed was from the perspective of the Super Lotto machine. Myer Nash’s face filled the screen, customers lined up neatly behind him. The scar on his face was especially prominent.

Myer Nash picked his ear, giving Diana Sharp a lazy, sleazy once-over. A flash of avarice crossed his eyes. With a smirk, he drawled, "Hey, sweetie, what’s Boss Hart to you?"

Diana Sharp ignored him and simply asked, "What numbers do you want to buy?"

Seeing her ignore him, Myer Nash’s intentions grew even fouler. His lecherous gaze swept over the small pigtails atop her head. He licked his lips and said slowly, "I want to buy you. How many Crystal Cores would that cost?"

Watching this, Lily Hart instinctively clenched her fists, seething with rage. ’That scumbag.’ She was about to get out of the vehicle right then.

But Frost Shaw was faster. He had already rushed forward, knocking Myer Nash to the ground with a single punch. Pinning him down, he let his fists rain down on the man’s face.

Myer Nash yelled and struggled, kicking his legs upward in an attempt to push him off. But Frost Shaw was like a mountain, pinning him down completely. Myer Nash could only cover his face with his hands and wail in agony.

Lily Hart also pushed open the door and got out, pretending to break up the fight. "Stop it, you two! Stop fighting!" she yelled, all while kicking Myer Nash in the crotch.

The women nearby who had been watching the security feed were already grinding their teeth in anger. Seeing that Boss Hart herself had joined the fray...

They swarmed forward, punching and kicking Myer Nash while shouting furiously, "You disgusting pig! Men are all trash! Is the only thing you think with your dick?!"

The surrounding men who were catching strays for no reason: "..."

Diana Sharp snapped out of it and rushed forward. Lily Hart grabbed her, holding her steady so she could stomp on Myer Nash’s face a couple of times.

Only when Myer Nash was beaten beyond recognition, his body a bloody pulp with not a single patch of skin left unscathed, did Lily Hart step in. "Alright, don’t kill him."

The dozen or so women stopped. One of them said with venom, "From now on, I’ll beat up guys like him every time I see one!"

The others nodded in agreement. "That’s right! We’re not to be trifled with!"

Lily Hart kicked Myer Nash, who was playing dead. "The machine. Five hundred Crystal Cores. Get them to me before eight tonight, not one less. Otherwise, the things I’ll do to you... Hmph!"

Myer Nash’s body shuddered, and he let out a weak breath. He was like a dirty rag that had been unceremoniously tossed on the ground.

Lily Hart knew he was a superpower user; a beating like this wouldn’t kill him. ’And since watching him get his ass kicked is so satisfying,’ she thought, ’why not enjoy it?’

"Come on, let’s go inside." Lily Hart put an arm around Diana Sharp’s shoulders and led her into the RV. "If anyone like that shows up again," she instructed, "you tell me right away. Got it?"

Diana Sharp nodded obediently, a smile spreading across her face. It revealed her two cute, prominent front teeth, giving her a very endearing look.

’I thought Lily would blame me,’ she mused. ’I never expected her to stand up for me, to put herself between me and him.’

Frost Shaw glanced at the crowd, instantly releasing the oppressive aura of a superpower user. But this time, the people weren’t nearly as afraid of him.

The one they truly feared was Lily Hart. Her figure was slender, yet she projected an aura of unyielding strength. She had limitless resources and could bring fortune to the people of Cathaya, but she also possessed immense power. It felt as though a person’s life or death could be decided by her slightest whim.

Everyone unanimously decided they had to be good customers. They wouldn’t cause trouble for Boss Hart or give her any reason to worry.

What if she got impatient and just packed up and left Hope Base? What would they do then!

Though it had only been a few short days, everyone had fallen deeply in love with the scratch-off tickets and the refreshingly straightforward Boss Hart. To think of waking up to a world without scratch-offs...

What would be the point of living? They’d rather just bash their heads against a wall and die!

Their thoughts were perfectly aligned. Everyone surged forward, shouting, "I want to buy a lottery ticket!"

"Boss, give me some scratch-offs!"

"Boss Hart, over here! I want to buy a Super Lotto ticket!"

The RV was instantly swamped with people. Lily Hart stood in the center of it all, hands on her hips, looking left and right, unsure of where to even start.

She glanced back outside and her sharp eyes caught Myer Nash limping away.

She wasn’t worried about finding him. ’As long as a customer has made a purchase at my lottery shop,’ she thought, ’I can pull up their real-time location.’

’But it’s not like I have nothing better to do. Why would I spend my days staring at someone’s location tracker?’

’This is a special situation, though. It might be worth a look.’ She pulled up Myer Nash’s location tracker and placed it on her Light Brain’s home screen, where she could check it anytime she wanted.

Diana Sharp sensibly took her place in front of the Super Lotto machine and began entering numbers for the customers.

This machine was her reward for reaching Level 4. Lily had just brought it out when Myer Nash smashed the old one. ’Out with the old, in with the new, I guess...’

Lily Hart had planned to move on to another base tonight, but she wanted to leave a few scratch-off machines behind.

She had met the 100,000-point requirement, but one machine was clearly not enough. She couldn’t even imagine how long the line would be.

Lily Hart checked the system’s store and her eyes nearly popped out of her head. ’Ten thousand points for one machine? This is highway robbery!’

But she happened to have just over 10,000 points, all of which she’d earned today. Her previous points had all gone into upgrades.

For the sake of a brighter future, Lily Hart grudgingly placed an order for one machine and set it up outside the RV.

Customers immediately swarmed the new machine, bombarding her with questions. Lily Hart raised a hand for silence and then explained how it worked.

It was simple and intuitive; anyone who wasn’t a complete idiot could figure it out.

Several hundred meters away, Winnie Lowell stood in a shadowy corner, her expression grim as she stared at the RV.

A man stood beside her, about six feet tall. He had dazzling blond hair and wore a crisp white tank top with black cargo pants.

His features were sharp, and a cigarette dangled from his lips. He slowly exhaled a smoke ring and asked disdainfully, "That’s the RV?"

Winnie Lowell nodded. "That’s right. The RV’s owner is Lily Hart. Kill her, and you’ll get every last thing I promised you."

The man acknowledged her with a nod. He swung a long leg over his motorcycle, twisted the throttle, and sped off.

He kicked up a cloud of dust that blew right in Winnie Lowell’s face, but she didn’t seem to mind. A triumphant smile was already glinting in her eyes.

The motorcycle roared all the way there, finally coming to a stop not far from the RV.

He dismounted nimbly and shook his head, his blond hair catching the sunlight, making him look incredibly striking.

Some customers knew who had arrived just from the sound of the motorcycle. They quickly tucked their scratch-offs into their clothes and slipped away.

Lily Hart stood with her hands on her hips, narrowing her eyes as she scanned the area. ’Strange, why’d so many people suddenly leave?’

Suddenly, a man entered her field of view. He had a head of what could be called soft blond hair. If not for his decent face and build...

...Lily Hart would have been tempted to call him an edgy punk. But the combination of that face and hairstyle was a total knockout.

’Not bad,’ she thought, ’but still not quite on the level of Frost Shaw’s face...’

’Ugh, can I please stop wanting to recruit every handsome guy I see!’

She composed herself, putting on a professional smile that revealed her dimples. She was just about to ask if he wanted to buy a scratch-off.

But before she could speak, the man charged straight at her. With a light touch of his toes, he gracefully vaulted onto a table and leaped into the RV.

He landed steadily right in front of her. Lily Hart frowned. ’This isn’t good.’

’This guy definitely isn’t here for scratch-offs.’ She subconsciously activated the highest level of defense, a system that would trigger the moment anyone made an aggressive move.
