Chapter 178: Chapter 178: Copy

Lily Hart had walked quite a distance before she suddenly clapped her hands. "Oh, man! I should’ve dug up one of those Stephania plants to take back and grow. They’re super easy to keep alive!"

The moment she finished speaking, the leaf in her pocket began to glow and grow warm. Lily Hart pulled it out, and her eyes lit up.

"I know, I know. You want me to plant you, right? But you’re just a tiny little leaf. There’s no way you’d grow, would there?"

Lily Hart was skeptical. She was doubtful. If it were a seed, she could give it a try, but how could you plant a single leaf? Just bury it and wait for it to rot?

After she said this, the Stephania leaf gradually stopped glowing and giving off heat. Right before their eyes, the palm-sized leaf went SHWOOP and shrank by half.

It looked as if it had been grievously wronged. Lily Hart fell silent.

’What’s with all of them?’

She had no choice but to offer a perfunctory consolation as she walked. "Alright, alright, I’ll bury you as soon as we get back!" With that, she stuffed it back into her pocket.

Stan Sterling, a step behind, couldn’t help but smile at her actions.

But after walking around, they hadn’t seen a single normal plant; they were all mutated. The two of them started heading back.

As they neared the RV, Lily Hart waved to him. "You head back first. I’ll let you know if I find anything." Stan Sterling obediently returned to the hotel.

Lily Hart, however, plopped down onto a lounge chair and started acting spoiled. "Diana~ Your big sis is craving some watermelon. Could you be a dear and cut up the one in the fridge?"

"You got it!" There was no reason for Diana Sharp to refuse; she was dying for some herself. She deftly cut the watermelon into small chunks and placed them in a bowl.

She even stuck a fork in it before carrying the whole bowl over to Lily Hart, her face practically begging for praise. "Here, go ahead~"

Lily Hart stifled a laugh, holding the bowl with both hands. "You cut it so fast and so perfectly~"

Diana Sharp, completely satisfied, turned and went to the kitchen. She brought out another bowl, placing it next to herself and Tina Jacobs. "Quick, eat up. It’s chilled. Don’t let that Easton guy find out."

Tina Jacobs quickly speared a piece and stuffed it into her mouth, nodding vigorously in agreement. Easton had a huge appetite. If he were here, these two bowls wouldn’t be enough for him!

Meanwhile, Lily Hart was searching the system’s Shop for plantable saplings, wanting to experiment with a few more to see if they could survive.

Her gaze fell on the watermelon in her bowl, and she immediately searched for watermelon seedlings in the Shop. They were available, but the price... "This is way too expensive! System!"

[Not at all, not at all. Fruit is also quite scarce in the future. Relatively speaking, however, mature fruit is cheaper than seeds.] the System explained.

So Lily Hart placed an order for two watermelon seedlings, two small peach trees, two small pear trees, and some plants that could prevent wind erosion and desertification.

In short, she bought a little bit of this and that, looking as if she were about to transform that plot of land into a garden.

But the space was too small, only about a square meter. What could she even plant? ’It would be great if I could get a few more plants like that one.’

As she was pondering this, a series of cheers erupted outside the RV. Lily Hart looked up, confused.

A man was standing in front of the prize redemption machine, a look of joy on his face as he gazed tenderly at the reward in his palm.

About a dozen excited people had surrounded him, all talking at once.

"That’s an incredible prize you got!"

"Yeah! Can you let us see what it does?"

"We’re all from the same base, don’t be so stingy~"

"This is the first time I’ve ever seen a prize like this."

"Boss Hart’s scratch-offs are amazing! They have everything!"

In their excitement, they weren’t being quiet. At least, Lily Hart could hear them clearly. Curious, she got up and went over to see.

It was another black stone, its surface smooth and round, looking exactly like the Protective Shield that Dawn Lowell had won.

Lily Hart asked, "What is it?" ’Don’t tell me it’s another Protective Shield?’

The man looked up as if waking from a dream. Meeting her clear, sincere eyes, he answered instinctively, "A copy."

"Copy what?" Lily Hart frowned, puzzled.

’Don’t tell me this whole series of prizes was made from the same mold?’

The customer looked at it carefully again before saying seriously, "It doesn’t say, but it can only be used once."

’More suspense! Getting my hopes up for no reason!’

Lily Hart prompted him, "So, what do you think it can copy?"

The customer thought for a long time before shaking his head. "I haven’t decided yet. It would be great if it could copy supplies or Crystal Cores."

A friend he knew whispered to him from the side, "Are you stupid? What if it can copy a superpower? What if it can copy Boss Hart’s lottery shop!"

Although his voice was low, the surroundings were quiet, and since Lily Hart wasn’t far away, she heard every word clearly.

Lily Hart found it rather amusing. ’This guy sure is ambitious. Copying a superpower might be possible, but the lottery shop is absolutely out of the question.’

The customer’s eyes lit up when he heard that. "Really?" His mind involuntarily began to race with fantasies.

His friend encouraged him with a confident nod. "Give it a try!"

Immediately after, the customer, ignoring the stares of the people around him, shut his eyes tightly and clenched the black stone in his hand.

He chanted silently in his mind: ’I want to copy the lottery shop! I want to copy the lottery shop! I want to copy the lottery shop!’

Only the owner of the prize could see its description, which naturally included instructions on how to use it.

And that method was, just as he was doing now, to sincerely repeat one’s wish three times in one’s mind. It sounded a bit cringey, but that was how it worked.

Soon, he opened his eyes in disappointment, meeting a circle of expectant gazes.

He slowly shook his head. "It failed." Although he didn’t say why it failed, he had a vague idea of the reason.

Someone next to him asked, "What did you try to copy? How could it fail?"

In front of Boss Hart, he certainly didn’t dare to brazenly say he wanted to copy her lottery shop, so he just mumbled and glossed over it.

"Try again! Try again!" the people around him urged excitedly.

It was as if they themselves owned the prize, terrified of it being wasted.

The customer wasn’t discouraged. He immediately decided what he wanted to copy, closed his eyes, and gripped the stone tightly.

He began to chant in his mind: ’I want to copy Frost Shaw’s Ice Ability! I want to copy Frost Shaw’s Ice Ability! I want to copy Frost Shaw’s Ice Ability!’

Hearing no desired response, the customer slowly opened his eyes and slowly shook his head again, utterly baffled.

’This doesn’t work, that doesn’t work, what the hell am I supposed to do!’

He was about to give up, but then a thought struck him. ’No, what if this is the turning of the gears of fate?’

He thought for a moment, a thousand ideas flashing through his mind as he recalled all the prizes people had won over the past few days.

Which one had he wanted the most, been the most envious of, gotten the most excited about, and most wanted to snatch for himself?

After thinking back carefully, he once again closed his eyes and silently chanted a few words. Then his eyes snapped open, his expression thrilled.

Seeing this, everyone knew he had succeeded and crowded around to ask.

"What did you copy?"

"Yeah, yeah, take it out and let us see!"

"That’s right! What is it!"

The customer hesitated. He wasn’t a complete fool; if he took it out, he wasn’t sure he’d be able to keep it.

These people would call you brother to your face, but when it really mattered, they’d bail on you faster than anyone.

He cast a pleading look at Boss Hart, who just blinked at him, not understanding.

The two exchanged a look, and just as the people around them couldn’t resist asking what was going on...

Lily Hart began to understand. It seemed the copied prize was quite powerful, so much so that he didn’t dare reveal it publicly.
