Chapter 162: Chapter 162: What Did You Do Last Night?

’I wonder if that mountain tortoise will actually work hard for me after drinking a drop of my blood.’

She looked to the east where the sun was slowly rising. Its light shone over the land, bringing warmth to the earth after a silent night.

Lily Hart looked away, propped her head on her hand, and waved him off. "Alright, alright, go back to sleep."

The Zombie King chuckled, stood up, and left. ’This woman... already at her limit.’

After sending the Zombie King away, Lily Hart wrote a note on a small whiteboard and hung it outside, stating that she would be closed for the day.

She sealed the RV up tight, went upstairs, took a comfortable hot shower, and went to bed.

The cat, Lily, hopped onto the bed. Following the scent, she found the small cut on the pad of her owner’s finger and licked it with her soft, pink tongue.

Her eyes lit up instantly. She called Nana over to lick it too. With both of them on the job, the wound healed rapidly.

The two little cats’ eyes gradually glazed over. They shook their heads, wobbling and stumbling as if they were drunk.

Both of them ended up falling asleep on the bed.

While the woman and two cats slept soundly, Frost Shaw and Roman Rowe were downstairs, pacing anxiously.

"What’s up with Boss Hart? Why is she suddenly taking a day off?"

"I don’t know. Maybe she didn’t sleep well and wants to sleep in?"

The two were in a heated discussion, completely unaware as the Zombie King passed by. He commented casually.

"Oh, Lily Hart was with me last night."

Frost Shaw and Roman Rowe’s eyes went wide. They yelled in angry unison, "What? What did you say?!"

"Say that again! What were you two doing together last night?" Frost Shaw darted in front of the Zombie King, blocking his path.

"Why was she with you? What did you two do last night?" Roman Rowe moved in closer, glaring at him.

The Zombie King crossed his arms, took a step back to put some distance between them, and sneered, "What’s it to you?"

With that, he pushed the two of them aside and walked right between them.

Roman Rowe fumed behind him. "I’m Sixth Rank, you’re Eighth Rank. What do you say? Wanna fight him?"

Just as Frost Shaw was about to agree, the Zombie King turned and said flatly, "Sorry. Ninth Rank now."

"You!" Roman Rowe was so angry he was speechless.

But all he dared to do was grumble behind his back. Faced with the Zombie King’s Ninth Rank power, Roman Rowe didn’t dare to confront him head-on.

Frost Shaw pulled him away, and the two returned to the convenience store to continue their grumbling.

"Look at that zombie! He’s getting completely out of hand! Daring to provoke us, and then spending the night alone with Boss Hart... What do you think they were doing?"

Roman Rowe couldn’t wrap his head around it. Why would Boss Hart be alone with him in the middle of the night?

A dark and windy night, dead silent, a lone man and a lone woman in the same room... The more Roman Rowe thought about it, the angrier he got!

Frost Shaw said nothing. He was busy pulling up the security footage from the convenience store entrance from last night.

The video showed Lily Hart leaving in her pajamas, heading in the direction of the bathhouse.

About twenty minutes later, she returned to the RV with the Zombie King. Lily Hart went up alone, changed her clothes, and came back down.

Then, she left with the Zombie King. Both of them looked serious, as if they were off to handle some important business.

After that, the next thing they saw was this morning, around five o’clock, when the Zombie King returned carrying Lily Hart.

After watching the footage, the two men stared at each other. Roman Rowe’s voice trembled slightly. "The whole night... What on earth were they doing?"

Frost Shaw shook his head blankly. "I don’t know. But they must have gone out for a reason. Maybe they made some major discovery."

Roman Rowe also nodded blankly. Perhaps they were just trying to comfort themselves, but in any case, they chose to believe it.

The entire morning passed, and the RV remained closed. Frost Shaw and Roman Rowe looked over countless times, only to turn away in disappointment each time.

Leo Colby also came by the convenience store to ask, but since the other two didn’t know anything either, all three of them were left completely in the dark.

But they all shared a tacit understanding: they would not ask the Zombie King. He was an outsider!

Lily Hart didn’t wake up until four in the afternoon. The consequence of an all-nighter was a buzzing in her head.

She lay in bed for a while longer before rolling out, washing her face, changing her clothes, and finally heading downstairs.

She didn’t notice at first that Lily and Nana had followed her down.

Once on the ground floor, she opened up all four sides of the RV. Fresh air rushed in, finally clearing her head a bit.

Frost Shaw was loitering at the convenience store entrance for the hundred and eighth time, and it was also his two hundred and third time looking toward the RV.

One look gave him a start—the sealed sides of the RV were open. He hurried over, climbing aboard as if he owned the place.

He asked anxiously, "What happened to you? Are you okay? Why were you suddenly closed for business?"

Lily Hart finished the water in her glass, soothing her dry throat. She shot Frost Shaw a strange glance but didn’t offer much of an explanation.

"It’s nothing. I had to take care of something last night."

"With that zombie?" Frost Shaw couldn’t help but press, his worried tone unintentionally taking on a hint of interrogation.

"What about it?" Lily Hart shot back. ’Since when do I have to explain my actions to you people?’

Frost Shaw quickly waved his hands, his confrontational air instantly deflating. "No, nothing. I was just worried about you. I thought something had happened..."

Lily Hart knew what he was thinking, of course, but she hated being managed. She softened her tone. "I’m fine. I’ll explain the details when everyone’s here."

’Otherwise, I’ll just have to repeat myself every time someone asks. It’s too annoying.’

Frost Shaw agreed and sat down obediently to the side. He started unconsciously picking at the skin on his hands when his eyes suddenly lit up, drawn to the two little cats hopping onto the table.

"Pspsps~" Frost Shaw instinctively reached out to them, making the sound people use to call cats and dogs. Lily Hart leaned back, lazily watching the scene unfold.

"Have they gotten bigger?" Lily Hart narrowed her eyes, observing them closely for a moment before speaking.

Frost Shaw scooped the cat, Lily, into his arms and stroked her fur. Hearing the comment, he held her up to get a better look and said in surprise, "You’re right, she has grown a lot, hasn’t she?"

The words were barely out of his mouth when Lily wriggled out of his grasp to go nuzzle with Nana. The two little cats hopped onto the outer counter, then leaped out of the RV, landing smoothly on the ground.

Lily Hart stood up, about to call them back, but what happened next made her jaw drop in astonishment.

She watched as the two little cats’ bodies grew, and grew, and grew! Before, they were about the size of Lily Hart’s two palms put together, but now...

Lily Hart glanced down. They were almost half her height, the size of large dogs. They weren’t as cute as when they were little, but they were strangely majestic.

Who wouldn’t want two such powerful and majestic cats? They could act cute by your side one moment and fight your battles the next.

’Wait,’ she thought. ’It’s also possible they only grew in size, and are still the same little cowards they’ve always been.’

She called out, "Lily? Nana?"

The two cats, who had been marveling at their own transformation, snapped their heads toward Lily Hart in unison, their eyes as wide as saucers. Hearing her call, they prepared to leap back into the RV.

Lily Hart quickly stopped them. "Wait, wait, wait! Use the main entrance." ’Don’t you dare collapse the counters.’

Behind her, Frost Shaw also shot to his feet, his muscles tensing. He looked ready to attack, even though he knew they were Boss Hart’s pets.

When facing large mutated animals, one always had to be on guard, fearing they might lose control to their bloodthirsty instincts and attack without warning.
