Chapter 146: Chapter 146: About to Transfer

Then, as if revealing a treasure, she pulled out what looked like a bathroom scale. "It just looks like one," Lily Hart explained. "When the robot’s battery is low, it’ll get on here by itself. Once it’s fully charged, it’ll get off."

The Zombie King nodded. ’This robot is so low-maintenance,’ he thought.

Lily Hart’s tone shifted. "Also, the robot needs to eat dry food. Remember to buy some for it, or it won’t work." As she spoke, she ordered two bags and bookmarked the product link.

The Zombie King froze, pointing at the robot. "But didn’t it just eat a lot?" he asked, confused.

"That was junk food. This is its staple food," Lily Hart explained. She had to suppress a laugh, and seeing his dazed nod only made it harder.

Lily Hart did another round of "inspections." There were no major issues, aside from too many customers and too few showerheads, leading to long waits.

That could only be solved by upgrading the bathhouse and expanding its premises. She went back and expertly snagged his Light Brain. The upgrade requirements were similar to Leo Colby’s.

He needed to earn one hundred thousand points.

With the current customer traffic, she figured it would only take about a week.

She also mentioned to Owen Warren, "By the way, we’re probably heading to Spring-Watch Base the day after tomorrow. Get ready, you’re coming with us."

Owen Warren agreed without a second thought. He currently had the complete appearance of a grown man; if Lily Hart hadn’t known it was a disguise, she would have been fooled as well.

’The implications were terrifying. If zombies could all reach this level and infiltrate the bases, it would be like letting wolves into the sheep pen...’

After Lily Hart left, Owen Warren fell into a brief silence. His nose twitched. Her fresh, sweet scent seemed to linger in the air, making him lose focus.

"Boss? Hey, Boss? I want to add more time!" a customer called, tapping on the counter. The Zombie King snapped back to his senses, instinctively replying, "Right."

It wasn’t just the bathhouse that was doing well; demand for the hotel was through the roof.

The previous night, Leo Colby had posted a notice on the lobby’s bulletin board and sent it to every guest’s Light Brain.

[We are scheduled to relocate to Spring-Watch Base the day after tomorrow. Guests who wish to extend their stay or check out should do so promptly.]

Once the lottery shop relocated, the hotel, convenience store, and bathhouse would all go with it. Naturally, the hotel’s guests would be transferred as well.

Those who wanted to continue their stay could simply extend it; those who didn’t could check out. It was that simple.

As soon as the notice went up, the news spread like wildfire throughout Fortune Base. Those who had been comforting themselves that it was just a rumor now had to face the reality: it was one hundred percent confirmed.

Logan Holland had paid for a full month upfront, so he didn’t need to worry about it; he would simply be relocated along with the hotel.

Many people were hesitant. The hotel was nice, sure, but the long-term cost was no small sum. Plus, they were reluctant to leave Fortune Base, where they had been living for so long.

For a while, there was a flurry of activity, with many guests checking out and just as many extending their stays. Fortunately, the system’s features were comprehensive, Leo Colby was an old hand at this, and the rooms had a one-touch cleaning function, which kept things from becoming chaotic.

The convenience store also hit a peak in business. Even people from the base who rarely ventured out were now clamoring to shop there.

It was packed to the gills. The shelves were emptied time and time again. Fortunately, the recent upgrade had doubled the size of both the first and second floors.

The first floor was now neatly lined with shelves. A long row of large coolers filled with yogurt and drinks stood against one wall, and the space was divided into sections for daily necessities and food.

Seven more rooms had been added to the second floor, assigned to Frost Shaw, Roman Rowe, Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs, the two young boys, and Easton and Frederick Shaw.

That accounted for five of the rooms. An extra bathroom was added as well, so there would be no more fighting over it in the mornings.

It was a truly hectic day. Everyone was busy from sunrise to sunset. Only after confirming that the move was happening the day after tomorrow, not tomorrow, did the customers finally, reluctantly, leave.

Lily Hart was likely the only one with any free time. The lottery shop barely needed managing these days, leaving her to simply restock tickets and wonder what to have for lunch and dinner.

Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs were handling things very well now. Running the lotto, selling tickets, collecting Crystal Cores—their roles were clearly defined, and the occasional minor mistake was of no real consequence.

When Frost Shaw and Roman Rowe dragged their exhausted bodies back to the RV, they found Lily Hart watching a variety show, eating watermelon, and roaring with laughter in the air-conditioned interior.

The two men exchanged a look, each seeing the same envy reflected in the other’s eyes.

This comfortable, peaceful, and pleasant life was exactly what they longed for!

Roman Rowe, ever shameless, dragged over a lounge chair, plopped down next to Lily Hart, grabbed a clean fork, and began to spear chunks of ice-cold watermelon for himself.

He glanced over at Frost Shaw, who was still standing there awkwardly. Feeling a surge of exasperation, Roman Rowe waved him over.

Lily Hart noticed and looked up. Her expression went blank, and she froze.

Frost Shaw was wearing a black shirt, the top two buttons undone to casually reveal his delicate collarbones and the silver necklace nestled between them.

She couldn’t see any further down, but Lily Hart vaguely recalled his firm biceps and guessed his build was probably excellent.

His shirt was casually tucked into his pants, accentuating a lean waist above a pair of long, powerful legs. ’Hmm, this outfit looks good on him,’ she thought. ’Most of his boyishness has faded, leaving a hint of maturity.’

’Whether it’s the boyish Frost Shaw or this version of him, caught somewhere between youth and maturity... they both have a different vibe. And both... are so handsome!’

Lily Hart snapped back to reality. She pushed Roman Rowe aside and beckoned to Frost Shaw. "Don’t just stand there. Come have a seat."

Roman Rowe: ...? He was left standing pitifully to the side.

He cursed internally, ’Sly fox. Knew he’d use cheap tricks to seduce Boss Hart! And the worst part is, she totally eats it up.’

He had no choice but to grab a small stool and squeeze his way in, munching on watermelon as he listened to the other two talk.

After Frost Shaw sat down, he felt a little awkward, not knowing what to do with his hands. Maybe it was because he hadn’t worn a dress shirt in so long, but it felt tight and uncomfortable.

But seeing the way Lily Hart’s eyes lit up, it was all worth it. ’This shirt could choke me to death, and it’d still be worth it!’

Once he was seated, Lily Hart gave him another once-over. Her gaze drifted down and landed between his legs. It was probably just the pants, but that area was particularly... prominent today.

Lily Hart looked away, failing to stifle a chuckle.

Frost Shaw didn’t understand at first. But then he recalled her teasing expression and remembered where her gaze had landed...

He glanced down, then instinctively clamped his legs together and straightened his posture. In a blatant attempt to cover up, he rested a hand on his lap, tugged at his pants, and the tips of his ears turned crimson.

"What are you two up to?" Roman Rowe asked, dying of curiosity.

"None of your business," Frost Shaw grumbled, stuffing a large piece of watermelon into Roman Rowe’s inquisitive mouth. He then awkwardly shifted his position again, grabbing a throw pillow to hold in his lap.

CHEW. CHEW. CHEW. Roman Rowe’s eyes darted back and forth between them. Finally, he just asked, "So, what’s for dinner?"

Now that was a topic Lily Hart was interested in. She’d been lounging around all afternoon without a single idea. She’d just started to get a glimmer of inspiration when Frost Shaw had completely derailed her train of thought.

"What do you feel like eating?" Lily Hart asked Roman, but her eyes flickered over to Frost Shaw. As if equipped with radar, her gaze automatically drifted downward—and met with a throw pillow.

’Well, well,’ she thought. ’He’s a quick learner.’
