Chapter 13: Chapter 13: None for You

Lily Hart held a piece of lettuce in one hand and picked up some pork belly with the other. She placed the sizzling, fragrant, and perfectly seared meat onto the lettuce, wrapped it up, and stuffed the whole thing into her mouth. Juice burst forth as she chewed. It was tender, fresh, and savory—absolutely divine.

She took a sip of her Coke. "Ah..." she sighed in contentment. ’Is there anything in the world more blissful than this?!’

But suddenly, she felt an intense, scorching gaze on her, like a spotlight. Lily Hart looked over, puzzled...

There was Frost Shaw, standing blankly less than five meters from the RV. She finally got a good look at him.

He was a very delicate and handsome young man with a high nose bridge and deep-set eyes. The wind had blown back the hood of his cloak, revealing his soft, neat hair.

It made you want to reach out and ruffle it.

He didn’t look very old, maybe around twenty. It should have been the prime of his life, but the apocalypse had imbued him with a faint aura of death...

The thought of that description made Lily Hart chuckle. She called out to him, "Something else?" Her tone was casual, just a passing question.

Frost Shaw walked over step by step and stopped in front of the window. He hesitated for a long while before shaking his head. "Nothing." But he didn’t leave, just stood there.

Lily Hart shrugged. She paid him no mind and couldn’t be bothered to get up and pull down the service window shutter. She went back to eating on her own—sliced beef, bacon, sausages, shrimp, and chicken wings.

She put a little of each on the grill to cook slowly, but a faint, persistent gaze remained on her. Finally, unable to bear it any longer, Lily Hart looked over.

She froze on the spot. It turned out his gaze wasn’t on her, but on the food on the electric grill. She could understand, but there was absolutely no way she was sharing any of it!

Lily Hart got up and pulled down the shutter, not forgetting to flash a smile at Frost Shaw. "Come back this afternoon, ’kay? The boss needs to eat."

Shut out, the aroma of grilled meat slowly faded for Frost Shaw. He gave the RV one last, deep look before leaving reluctantly.

Inside the RV, Lily Hart began eating without restraint. She could only spend 1000 points in the mall each day, and this barbecue meal had already cost her six hundred eighty-eight points...

’This is so expensive...’

She needed to earn one hundred thousand points to reach Level 4, but she had only earned less than thirty thousand so far. ’It’s a long road ahead.’

Lily Hart mulled it over for a moment but then dismissed it. ’Who cares? A limit of one thousand is definitely enough. I’m just earning money every day to stuff my face anyway.’

Barbecue was a meal meant to be cooked and eaten slowly, paired with a nice drink. It was nearly two o’clock by the time Lily Hart finished. She was about to burst. After ending the order, she got up, took a shower, and planned to take a nap.

Her nap lasted two hours. A long line had already formed outside, but Lily Hart was completely unaware. She hugged her blanket and rolled over in her cozy bed.

THUMP. She fell out of bed, startling the sleeping Lily, who shot up like a rocket. Its little paws landed on her face as it meowed anxiously.

Lily Hart scooped the cat into her arms, groggily climbed back into bed, and lay there for a bit. After a while, she suddenly shot upright and glanced at the time. 3:57!

She quickly got herself ready, rushing to pull up the shutter before four o’clock. ’No idea why I have this obsession with being on time.’

The first person in line wasn’t Chester Carter, surprisingly, but Frost Shaw. He was wearing the same outfit as in the morning, the hood of his cloak completely hiding the upper half of his face. ’He’s not bad-looking, though...’

Lily Hart thought, ’Well, he’s just a kid. Probably wants to maintain an air of mystery.’

She set out the scratch-off tickets and the Lucky Cat, and everyone began the orderly process of feeding, selecting, and scratching. She noticed that Frost Shaw was only scratching "Big 7s."

’Don’t tell me he’s got elders and children to support, and they all have huge appetites? Is that why he needs so much food to feed them?’

’No, no, no!’

Lily Hart stopped daydreaming and focused on her work.

Some people would scratch one or two tickets and leave, making room for the next person. But who would have thought—this Frost Shaw just kept scratching and scratching. He didn’t even redeem his prizes, just set them aside.

Lily Hart started to watch and see if anyone else was winning food...

By five o’clock, not a single person had won any food. ’That little brat probably picked all the winning ones again!’

Customers were already starting to complain.

"Boss, didn’t you say the ’Big 7s’ were the ones with food? I came all the way from the next base just for this..."

"Yeah, Boss! I scratched three in a row, and they were all ’Thanks for playing.’ Does that seem right to you?"

"Boss, you’re not getting big and starting to scam people, are you?"

"You can’t do this! You’re my whole reason for living now! If there are no scratch-offs, I don’t even want to kill zombies anymore!"

The comments left Lily Hart dumbfounded. Frost Shaw, however, showed no reaction and just kept scratching his tickets.

She quickly denied it. "No way! I’ll open a new book of ’Big 7s’ for you all to try. It must just be bad luck. Spit twice and spit the bad luck away!"

Hearing this, Frost Shaw immediately looked up, his eyes shining as he stared at the brand-new, unopened book of "Big 7s" in Lily Hart’s hand.

As if sensing his gaze, Lily Hart shot him a glare. "What are you looking at! None of these are for you!"

"..." Hmph.

Frost Shaw lowered his head. He still had five unscratched "Big 7s" next to him.

Lily Hart placed the newly opened "Big 7s" on the counter, and they were snatched up in an instant. ’It’s a new book, there’s gotta be a chance to win food!’

She had observed this before. In a book of 20, the chance of winning was about fifty-fifty. However, the prizes varied in quality—some were useless ear picks, while others were enviable fruits!

Sure enough, the 20 tickets were split among seven or eight people, and naturally, some were happy while others were disappointed.

"Ahh! I finally won fruit! Boss, redeem it for me now!"

"Is-is this the legendary banana? The divine fruit that’s easy to peel, delicious, and doesn’t get your hands dirty?"

"Boss, I got another ’Thanks for playing’! Can you open another book? Aaaah, I can’t take it anymore!"

Lily Hart watched them go wild as she quietly redeemed their prizes.

Those who won were so happy they wanted the whole world to know. This was because prizes won from Boss Hart’s lottery shop had a protection mechanism.

No one could snatch them away. If anyone tried anything, they would be the ones to suffer. It was better to just be a spectator and enjoy watching someone else eat their fill.

And so, dozens of pairs of eyes stared at the person with the bananas. The key was, it wasn’t just one banana—it was a whole bunch, probably five or six of them.

The person wasn’t afraid. They stood boldly in the middle of the crowd and unhurriedly broke off a banana.

Someone in the crowd cried out, "Hey, be careful! You’re so clumsy you’re going to break it!"

"Yeah, do you even know how to eat that? If not, give it to me! I’ll definitely treat that banana better than you!"

The person ignored the crowd’s howls of despair and longing, slowly peeling back the banana’s yellow skin to reveal the fragrant, soft flesh inside.

He only dared to take a tiny bite at a time, eating slowly and savoring it. Paired with his ecstatic expression, he looked so smug you wanted to punch him!
