Chapter 1278: Chapter 493: Total Communication Blackout!

Cold to the bone.

Silent and still.

Lin Xian looked through the porthole, gazing at the massive hollow visage outside, his expression shook greatly, as if even his breath halted for a moment. The pitch-black opening seemed to stare at him like the abyss of Hell. Lin Xian instinctively activated his AT Force Field Shield.

A cold sweat slid down his forehead, and Lin Xian stood still, facing the peculiar creature outside. His right hand was poised to unleash the Supercritical Diffraction Sword directly, while considering using Energy Transition to evade the danger.

A myriad of thoughts exploded in his mind at once, but peculiarly, after a few seconds, the monster outside did not launch an attack and continued facing the porthole with its hollow face.

Lin Xian frowned, a thought suddenly struck him—had the room’s dark energy frequency changed completely, rendering the monster unable to ’see’ him?

Sound, smell, energy, frequency—Lin Xian considered many possibilities, suppressing his urge to act, reminding himself to stay calm. Unless absolutely necessary, he did not want to stir trouble within this Crimson Night. The wreckage of the Chengying Ship and the war remains scattered about evidenced the horror within the Crimson. Facing the abyss’s terror was difficult for him alone, especially since he had no idea which direction to flee and could only fight like a cornered beast.

Watching the pitch-black hollow, Lin Xian clenched his fist, maintaining his stillness, while quietly commanding all drones to perform silent actions.

He was gambling.

Gambling that his guess was correct. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Not knowing how much time had passed, the ’hollow’ outside suddenly vanished into the yellow sand with a surge of crimson blood mist, and simultaneously, the cold bone-chilling gaze also disappeared.

Only then did Lin Xian exhale deeply, unable to suppress a slight sense of lingering fear.

"It’s a good thing I wasn’t afraid of trouble and outfitted the whole room right from the start. It seems the monsters in the Crimson are much sharper than those in the Extreme Night, and moreover..."

Feeling somewhat puzzled, Lin Xian felt that the monsters outside seemed elusive, and even capable of ’Instant Teleportation,’ making them bewilderingly perplexing. If the monsters had such maneuverability, common people barely had any chance to react for survival.

Thinking of this, Lin Xian directly turned off the shelter’s lights, then placed a cold light lamp in the room, checked the time, and sat down at the corner to sort out his thoughts.

Time quickly reached approximately 10 AM the next day, the Crimson Night became less dark with no warning, but appeared to count as ’daybreak.’

Lin Xian stayed up all night, pondering that the night and day within the Crimson, though seemingly not drastically different, must have some disparities. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have encountered so many monsters last night.

Throughout the night, he had no opportunity for Mechanical Devouring and only managed to add a set of dark energy frequency apparatus to his Power Armor using existing materials. But without Blood Essence, it remained inactive—the sole Blood Essence needed to preserve his food supplies.

Woo~woo~woo~

Numerous mini-drones flew out. Lin Xian controlled the door to open a small gap, releasing the drones once more. This time, he intended to directly link the main starship bridge and obtain some information.

As Lin Xian predicted, after daybreak, the plan progressed more smoothly. Shortly after, several information drones flashed blue light as they rushed into the shattered main starship bridge. The interior screen was filled with various dried corpses, including a female dressed in military uniform seated at the captain’s position, secured by a metal safety belt, with many others in the bridge still maintaining combat stances.

"The battle broke out suddenly—such a large starship, could it have been struck first?"

Wondering, Lin Xian manipulated the drones to access the system, attempting to retrieve data. Soon, a large volume of communication log information was obtained and transmitted to Lin Xian.

[Mission Log Summary]:

Mission Codename: Ark Shield

Fleet: Phoenix City Interstellar Army Third Intercontinental Team, "Chengying" Ship (Flagship), "Xuan Niao" ship and escort fleet.

Mission Objective: Escort "Noah" sea-mobile city, departing from Republican Islands waters, reaching the predetermined anchorage at Costa Rica Hakko coast, establishing a defensive line, and supporting the evacuation of "Dawn Center" survivor caravan from North America Guatemala into the Noah Safety Zone.

Last log update: December 13, 2069, 17:28)

Matching Lin Xian’s speculation closely, this fleet should have landed with Noah.

Lin Xian now opened the battle log, and instantly a voice message from the captain’s channel was relayed.

"Chengying! Chengying! Sonar array anomaly! Seabed geological activity index skyrocketing! Repeat, seabed geological activity index skyrocketing! Something is surfacing! It’s very large!"

"All fleet, level-one combat configuration! Maximum power to Static Electric Field! Preheat anti-submarine weapons! Xuan Niao, you command all transport units to cover the crowd retreating southward, Phoenix City is expected to arrive at North Kokele in 3 hours and 12 minutes!"

Then came the jarring sound of metal twisting and low-frequency humming.

"Oh my God! What’s that?! The seabed... the seabed is rising! It’s not a mountain! It’s alive!!"

"Damn, it’s the Earthquake Catfish from Star Abyss 13, relentless specter, chased us this far!"

"Captain, approximately 190 kilometers northeast, detected extremely high dark energy fluctuation, intel estimated as S-Class Crimson Creature!"
