Chapter 1258: Chapter 485: Parting the Sea!
Oahu Island, Honolulu City Center
A rotten hand slapped onto the huge neon billboard of "Sunshine Hawaii," leaving behind a sticky smear. Beneath the billboard, a female Zombie in a torn bikini, with only half a ribcage left, blankly rolled her gray-white eyeballs. Its hollow gaze swept over the deathly still street, swept over the pile of its kind crammed together inside a tilted tour bus. Under the clearly bright, sunny weather, everything suddenly turned pitch-dark.
The howling gale grew even more violent. The female Zombie and the other Zombies wandering the street turned their heads toward the direction of the Honolulu Mountain Range. There, the sky had been replaced by a "wall," a "wall" that connected sky and sea and devoured all light. It was not pure darkness; that blackness churned like countless sticky pools of crude oil, within which sickly crimson radiance rolled and seeped, slowly smothering the mountains.
That blot of darkness devoured the Diamond Mountain Lighthouse, devoured the Hollywood Sign where countless tourists had once checked in. Next was the tunnel that cut through the mountain. The black-and-red interwoven tide surged into the tunnel entrance like a tangible flood. The abandoned vehicles, bones, billboards inside, along with several Zombies staggering and trying to crawl out, were submerged in an instant.
The crimson flooded past the pristine sands of Waikiki Beach, numb Zombies being Devoured in droves. Yet after being wrapped by that crimson, those Zombie silhouettes inexplicably started undergoing bizarre changes. Their bodies suddenly hunched, emitting inhuman, bone-dislocating "crack-clack" sounds. Their eyeballs swelled rapidly as if inflated, gray-white at first, then bursting, then beginning to twist into paste-like masses. Those shadows Devoured and fused with each other, mutating into indescribable Abnormal Bodies.
Ugh—ah!!
Weird screams rose and fell one after another, accompanied by frenzied, demon-dancing black silhouettes mutating within the crimson. In what felt like an instant, the city turned into an inhuman, terrifying Hell.
Those crimson bodies kept twisting, deforming, defying description. The moment the monitors Lin Xian had installed were Devoured by the crimson, they lost all signal. But through the fragmentary footage that remained, he still sensed something abnormal that far exceeded his expectations.
On the Sky Dome Train, watching the anomalies happening all over the island in his mind’s eye, Lin Xian’s expression grew slightly grim. This time, experiencing that Crimson Advent directly felt far more terrifying than when he had perceived it through the consciousness link. From just a few scattered images, Lin Xian already understood the power of the crimson. Without relying on a vehicle or Full Coverage Power Armor, no Superpower User could realistically survive inside it.
Although everyone on the Infinity now had interstellar-level power armor made by Lin Xian, compared to all survivor groups, they were still extremely rare. Even in the interstellar army, only elite units would be equipped with Ghost Wolf Level or higher Power Armor. Most regular soldiers only had half-coverage or auxiliary Armor; both the Phoenix Society and the military were like this, let alone other ordinary survivors.
Vwoom!
A sharp Sound Roar swept over the main bridge from above, like an invisible plane of airwaves, instantly turning the swarm of strange fish in the sky into a continuous mist of crimson blood. Its power was comparable to ten 1130 systems firing at once. Lin Xian looked toward the direction of the ship’s tower—Monica stood with one hand on her hip, calm and unruffled. The Sound Roar Sword at her lips even passed cleanly through the bulletproof porthole and Static Electric Field to be released, without her needing to stand outside at all. On the other side, Qian Deli’s Divine Speed kicking technique had originally fallen under the category of Body Technique, but now could pierce out high-energy golden beams. It was clear the Superpowers of both of them had undergone a qualitative transformation after activating the Crystal Grid!
Lin Xian watched the faintly visible flow of Dark Energy in the frigid air. This power was laden with mystery; it could let a single gun in Shu Qin’s hands unleash artillery-level firepower—utterly heaven-defying.
"All our Dark Marks are lit up. Every Monster within at least a five-kilometer radius of sea around us is converging on our position!"
Sha Sha sat at the information officer’s station, looking at the radar panel as she said, "There are some in the sky too."
At this moment, on the surging surface of the Pacific Ocean, a band of white bubble-filled sea stretched like a line drawn across the ends of the north-south horizon, like a Shock Wave spreading from the Star Abyss Center out into the ocean, raging forward with reckless ferocity.
The Sky Dome Train was now racing along its track, keeping pace with the white bubble zone below. At a glance, it was as though the entire ocean had turned into boiling white foam. Countless Abnormal Bodies from the deep sea swarmed out in force, a black mass charging the train.
Lin Xian raised his head to look at the sky above. With everyone’s Crystal Grid unleashed and all Dark Marks lit, black clouds pressed down low as more Flying Monsters kept flooding in. Just one glance and he instantly guessed that hidden within that black cloud bank were terrifying atmospheric lifeforms.
"At this speed, we’ll collide with the tsunami in 30 seconds!"
Sha Sha turned her head back to look at Lin Xian, her small face tense as she asked, "Brother Lin, do we prepare to climb?"
Lin Xian was just about to respond when Ning Jing’s voice suddenly came through his earpiece.
"Captain Lin."
Boom!
On the roof of the intercontinental train, a Shock Wave blasted through hundreds of meters of air, punching a vacuum cavity seven or eight meters wide through the swarming strange fish. Blood mist sprayed everywhere. At the origin of the Shock Wave, Ning Jing, now like a small giant, stood with her Crystal Grid Power roaring, still frozen in a fierce punching stance. At this moment her brows knit slightly; after circulating the Crystal Grid Power she suddenly sensed something. Dark Energy Fluctuations flowed around her, and her own body size was actually shrinking at a rate visible to the naked eye.
Noticing this, Ning Jing felt a slight breath of relief in her heart, but she didn’t dwell on it. Instead, she looked up toward the high sky and continued speaking over the comm: "We can’t fly too high. If we get tagged with a Level 4 mark by a Special Level, given the current density of Abnormal Bodies in the spread zone, we’ll be in deep trouble for sure!"
