Chapter 180: Chapter 180: Taking Good Care
Jiang Si and Qin Shen returned to the Icebreaker and immediately asked about the little boy’s condition.
Shen Baoying said, "He’s been hiding in the bathroom and hasn’t come out. He doesn’t know how to use the toilet, so he just relieved himself on the floor. He’s covered in it. We didn’t dare go in to clean him."
Jiang Si nodded. "You were right not to go in. He’s aggressive and has Invisibility. If you weren’t careful, he could have bitten through your throats."
Qin Shen said, "I’ll go."
Jiang Si nodded, and Shen Baoying quickly brought out the food she had prepared for the little boy.
It was mainly congee, but this time she added steamed buns, stuffed buns, and a small dish of cold appetizers.
If he could handle all that, they could start him on a normal diet tomorrow.
Qin Shen opened the door. The CLICK of the lock startled the little boy, who turned invisible the moment he jumped up.
Even though he had destroyed the light in the room, the fluorescent bracelets on his hands and feet were still quite conspicuous.
Qin Shen could see in the dark, but out of consideration for Shen Baoying and the others, he still turned on the lights.
"AWOOO—"
With a ferocious cry, the little boy lunged at Qin Shen again.
But, just like before, Qin Shen grabbed his wrist and easily tossed him onto the bed.
The little boy reappeared, trembling as he scrambled into the corner of the bed.
Qin Shen stared at the filth on his body, his eyes turning deep and unreadable.
His gaze made the little boy even more wary and frightened.
Qin Shen placed the food on the table. The little boy sniffed the air, his eyes flickering. He clearly wanted to eat.
Qin Shen ignored him and spoke into his earpiece, "Sisi, bring some water."
"Okay, right away."
There was a bathtub on the ship. Jiang Si and the others filled it with hot water, loaded it onto a trolley, and wheeled it all the way to the room’s entrance.
The moment the door opened, the temptation of food was forgotten.
The little boy shot out like a rocket, but was unfortunately snatched by Qin Shen.
The door closed, and Qin Shen tossed the little boy directly into the tub.
He struggled desperately to climb out, but Qin Shen pushed him back down.
Watching the little boy’s frantic struggles on the monitor, Jiang Si thought, ’If I didn’t know Qin Shen was just trying to give him a bath, I’d think he was some monster who enjoys torturing children for fun.’
The little boy was no match for Qin Shen’s strength. After flailing a few times, he stopped. To Jiang Si and the others, it looked like a ferocious puppy that had suddenly been subdued by Qin Shen.
To be honest, it really did look like he was training a dog.
Qin Shen lifted him out of the water. The little boy had learned his lesson and didn’t dare to move recklessly anymore.
Because with every movement, the force in Qin Shen’s hands felt like it could tear him in two.
Once he behaved, Qin Shen saw no need to keep fighting with a child.
He carefully dried him with a towel and dressed him in the new clothes Jiang Si had just brought.
The little boy tried to take them off, but after tugging at them twice, Qin Shen smacked the back of his hands.
He timidly stopped.
Qin Shen glanced at the bathtub, then at the filth-covered toilet. A flash of disgust crossed his eyes, but he could only stand up, bring the table over to the boy, and point at the food. "You have to use chopsticks to eat."
The little boy didn’t know how to use chopsticks, but when he saw Qin Shen holding them, he subconsciously didn’t dare to disobey.
He picked up the chopsticks, holding them unevenly. He poked at the small dish but couldn’t pick anything up. He did manage to spear a steamed bun, though.
A hint of relief appeared on Qin Shen’s face. "Go on, eat."
With permission, the little boy immediately began to wolf down his food. Somewhere in the middle of eating, the chopsticks disappeared, and the table was left a complete mess.
Qin Shen frowned but ultimately didn’t press him any further.
He was essentially a feral child right now. They had to take it slow and couldn’t rush things.
The little boy was happy while he ate. His emotions fluctuated wildly, causing him to flicker in and out of Invisibility.
Everyone watching the monitor found it fascinating.
Without those bracelets, a child with Invisibility would be an incredible danger on this ship.
Jiang Linhai was instantly reminded of a movie he’d seen about an invisible man created by a scientific experiment.
The character had used his invisibility to commit all sorts of evil. He couldn’t help but worry. "Sisi, what if he takes off the bracelets one day and we can’t control him?"
Jiang Linhai voiced the group’s concern. Jiang Si pondered for a moment before saying, "That day will not come."
’If it were to happen, I would certainly nip it in the bud.’
Everyone sighed. They could only hope so.
After all, the boy was quite pitiful.
If taught properly, he could also become a great asset.
His belly full and round, the little boy once again scrambled back into the corner of the bed.
Qin Shen took out a handkerchief and approached him, scaring the boy so much that he trembled.
The touch was gentle, merely wiping away the grime from the corner of his mouth. He wasn’t hurt. A surprised expression appeared on his face.
Qin Shen wiped up the water around the tub, then went into the bathroom and cleaned it without complaint.
He disinfected it several times with disinfectant solution before he was finally satisfied.
The whole time, the little boy was secretly peeking at him, curious about his actions.
When Qin Shen looked back, the boy quickly pulled his head back, still invisible, as if thinking Qin Shen couldn’t see him.
Qin Shen suddenly said to him, "Come here!"
The boy didn’t move, so Qin Shen just picked him up. He pointed at the toilet, then at the waste he had just cleaned up. "You go to the toilet in here."
To that end, he even took the little boy’s hand and went through the motions to demonstrate.
The little boy looked a bit lost, his eyes timid. It was unclear if he understood or not.
But if a troop of monkeys could learn, a child who was only temporarily feral should be able to adapt quickly once he grew accustomed to it.
Qin Shen collected the bowls and wiped down the table, working so hard that Jiang Si’s heart ached for him.
’Taking care of a special-needs child really isn’t easy.’
After Qin Shen left, the little boy remained motionless. However, he wasn’t as scared as before. He even dared to crawl to the door and study it after Qin Shen was gone.
Everyone went to greet Qin Shen, saying in unison, "You’ve worked hard. Let’s eat, too."
Qin Shen nodded.
Shen Baoying smiled. "We’re having lamb soup today. Everyone go to the kitchen and prepare your own seasonings."
Bo Xi didn’t know how to mix the seasonings, so Shen Baoying did it for him.
The steaming hot lamb soup was rich and delicious. Even though it was made from frozen lamb, the texture wasn’t affected.
After drinking a bowl of the soup, Jiang Linhai asked, "Sisi, do we know the boy’s name yet?"
Jiang Si said, "I’ve copied the registration information from my computer. I’ll be able to look at it in a bit, so we should know soon."
"Good. I hope he recovers soon. Then our Niu Niu will have a playmate."
Niu Niu felt the little boy was very pitiful and said happily, "I’ll take good care of him!"
Jiang Si nodded. "Niu Niu would be the big sister, then."
Shen Baoying shook her head. "I think they’re about the same height. That boy is just thin."
"Well, if we have the housing information, we’ll be able to find out how old he is."
Everyone was still quite concerned about the child.
