Chapter 155: Chapter 155: Call Me Husband
Qin Shen suddenly kissed the nape of her neck. Jiang Si let out a muffled grunt and struggled to speak in a normal tone. "You don’t need to prepare much. Just dig up the ground, loosen the soil, and then add some plant ash or fertilizer."
Zhang Aihua understood and hurriedly said, "Thank you, Miss Jiang and Mr. Qin."
’Telling us to prepare the land for planting means it’s a sure thing.’
He hurried back with Lao Er and Brother Qiu to round everyone up. They had to get the ground prepared before the seedlings arrived, or they’d just freeze to death.
Jiang Si tossed aside the pager in her hand, rolled over, and held Qin Shen’s chin firmly. "What are you doing!"
She was trying to be fierce, but it would have been more intimidating if their actions weren’t so intimate.
Qin Shen had a serious expression. "I’m jealous."
He bluntly said he was jealous, his cool, handsome eyes fixed entirely on her. It was truly hard to resist that gaze.
Jiang Si couldn’t hold back a smile and kissed his cheek. "What’s there to be jealous about? We just exchanged a few words."
Qin Shen pulled her onto his lap and began to seriously press the issue. "They called you Sisi."
"Mm-hmm, so what are you going to do? Gag them?"
Qin Shen stared at her intently, looking very much like he wanted to shut *her* mouth.
It was almost time for dinner, and Jiang Si was too embarrassed to have Shen Baoying call for them again and again. She pushed against his solid chest. "Stop fooling around."
Qin Shen was such a grown man, and so cool and aloof-looking, but as their relationship grew more passionate, he started showing his childish side more often.
"I won’t."
"Alright, alright. What is it you want?"
’Jiang Si felt utterly resigned. It was like she was already raising an overgrown baby.’
Qin Shen’s eyes lit up. He hugged her tightly, as if afraid she’d go back on her word. "Call me ’husband’."
Jiang Si’s mind went blank, her face instantly turning crimson. "Call you what? We’re not at that stage yet."
Qin Shen stared at her, locking onto her evasive gaze. "Didn’t you already call me your fiancé? If we round up, that basically makes me your husband. Can’t you just say it once as a preview?"
’Seriously... I only said he was my fiancé as part of the act! It just slipped out.’
’And now he’d found an excuse to hold it over her.’
When Jiang Si didn’t say anything, he pulled her in and kissed her again. "Sisi, hmm?"
He was as enthusiastic as a big, fluffy wolf-dog.
Jiang Si was left breathless, but she clenched her jaw, refusing to give in.
Qin Shen played his trump card, looking at her pitifully. "Are you telling me you didn’t get together with me with marriage in mind?"
He was just one step away from accusing Jiang Si of toying with his feelings.
Jiang Si was utterly speechless.
’When they started dating, she never thought that after such a short time, he’d be trying to upgrade his title directly to ’husband’.’
But seeing him go to all this trouble, looking both infuriating and pitiful just to get her to call him ’husband’, Jiang Si couldn’t help but laugh out loud. She relented, "Alright, alright. But I’ll only say it once, okay?"
"Mm-hmm."
Jiang Si braced herself. She thought it would be difficult to say, but looking at Qin Shen’s face—a masterpiece personally sculpted by the goddess Nuwa—it came out effortlessly. She even felt a little thrill, as if she were the one getting a bargain. "Husband."
A soft, clear female voice rang out. Qin Shen suddenly hugged her tight and responded, "Wife."
Jiang Si froze for a second, then heard him call out several more times, "Wife, wife, wife..."
’Just how eager is he to start a family?’
Jiang Si wrapped her arms around his shoulders and chided with a laugh, "Why are you calling me that? I didn’t ask you to respond."
Qin Shen said gently and solemnly, "I wanted to."
’God, who could possibly resist a man who loves you, is considerate, wants to marry you, has an incredible body, and is great in bed!’
’Jiang Si didn’t know about anyone else, but as for herself, she felt like she had completely fallen for him.’
Jiang Si gave him a passionate response. "Okay."
The two of them were all over each other, and once again, they successfully missed dinner.
’It was probably for the best that they missed it. At least they could avoid their parents’ suggestive looks and nagging about whether they should plan a wedding.’
’He’s already my fiancé, so... marriage probably isn’t too far off either.’
In the kitchen, Qin Shen asked, "Want some instant noodles?"
Jiang Si nodded. "Sure."
Qin Shen got out the instant noodles and started cooking them while Jiang Si took eggs and side dishes from the fridge.
The side dishes were plated and set out. Qin Shen cracked the eggs into the noodles. Jiang Si sat at the dining table watching him, finding the sight incredibly pleasing. She could only feel that heaven had truly blessed her in this life, sending her such a capable and wonderful treasure.
After eating their instant noodles, Jiang Si and Qin Shen went to the greenhouse to take stock of the radish seedlings.
These giant radish seedlings propagated quickly in the greenhouse, but once they reached a certain size, they would stop growing.
Even though the radish Jiang Si was holding was as thick as her wrist, it was still just an advanced version of a seedling.
The largest of the seedlings they had previously transplanted outside had already grown as thick as Jiang Si’s waist. After another two weeks of rapid growth, they would be as big as the ones they had first discovered by the hot spring.
Jiang Si pulled up a hundred radish seedlings for Zhang Aihua’s group and put them in a basket, also giving them some soybeans and chives.
The soybeans could be sprouted, and the chives would grow once the temperature was right, yielding one harvest after another.
’If they study things carefully over by the hot spring, they could probably manage to grow vegetables too.’
’Jiang Si had originally wanted to settle there with everyone. They could soak in the hot springs, and having a water source would be convenient.’
’But they couldn’t be too far from the Icebreaker, so she gave up on the idea.’
’They could, however, rig up a pipe to bring the hot spring water directly to them.’
’The only question was whether they could find a suitable pipe.’
’If the water temperature was too high, a normal pipe wouldn’t be able to withstand the heat. If the temperature was too low, the water would freeze before it even got to them.’
Jiang Si told Qin Shen her idea. Qin Shen said, "If we have the data on the hot spring’s water temperature and the pipe’s specifications, we can calculate it."
Jiang Si tapped her head. "Look how stupid I am. As expected of a top medical student. Let’s go. I’ll be counting on you, then. We’ll check the seed bank first."
"Alright."
They loaded everything they were bringing onto the icebreaking vehicle and headed to the seed bank first.
The seed bank was guarded by special "monkeys." When they arrived, they gave a large white radish to two monkeys hiding in the snow.
The monkeys took it and began to happily gnaw on it. Jiang Si and Qin Shen went inside and found several types of water pipes in Building Materials Warehouse No. 2.
Qin Shen expertly took the necessary measurements, and only then did Jiang Si take out her pager to tell Zhang Aihua they would be over in a bit.
As soon as Zhang Aihua heard they were coming right away, he immediately started rummaging through his bag.
After searching for a long time without finding what he was looking for, Zhang Yiwen came over and asked, "Dad, what are you looking for?"
"The tea leaves. Have you seen my packet of tea leaves?"
Zhang Yiwen said, "Didn’t we use them all to make tea eggs?"
Zhang Aihua sighed. "Oh, right."
"What are you trying to do, anyway?"
"We have guests coming, but we don’t have any tea to serve them."
Hearing this, Zhang Yiwen preciously took out two packets of coffee from his pocket. "Here, you can have this. Since they’re guests, we can’t bring shame to our family."
