Chapter 313: Did Wonders For His Skin

Rouxi’s laugh reached him from the porch and that was all the encouragement Lingyun needed.

He crossed through the wall of fire without slowing, knowing that he couldn’t be hurt by something he, himself, created. The heat folded around him, curling away from his clothes as he reached the first attacker.

Honestly, he couldn’t push down the grin on his face even if he tried. He lived for this shit, and now... now he was able to show off in front of the woman he loved.

The man swung a machete at his neck like Lingyun was some easy prey that would just sit there and take it.

Instead, Lingyun caught the intruder’s wrist with one hand and shoved a burning palm against his chest. The attacker’s shirt caught immediately, forcing him to release the weapon as he stumbled backward.

Lingyun took the machete and drove the handle into the man’s throat before kicking him into the waiting flowers.

A gun fired near his ear, but the bullet never reached him.

Yuche flicked one hand from several meters away, sending it sideways into the attacker’s knee. The man dropped to the ground with a scream, and Yuche closed the distance before he could raise the rifle again.

The bat struck his hands first. Fragile bones cracked beneath the relentless metal, and the rifle fell onto the road.

Yuche stepped over it and swung again, a twisted smile that matched Lingyun playing on his own lips. "Just like old times, huh?"

Lingyun let out a bark of laughter even as the second blow of Yuche’s bat connected with the intruder’s temple and sent him sideways into the hood of the truck. Blood streaked across the metal as his body slid to the pavement.

Yuche glanced at the stain.

"Rouxi might want the vehicle," he muttered. "I probably shouldn’t get blood on it."

Lingyun drove his elbow into another attacker’s face before looking over. "You’re worried about the blood now?"

"It would have been easier to clean if he hadn’t moved," Yuche shrugged like it wasn’t a big deal, but there was still a dark look on his face. Yeah. He wasn’t happy. What if the body had dented it? What gift would he give Rouxi then?

The attacker in front of Lingyun tried to take advantage of the distraction, but he was about a hundred years too late to pull that trick. He lunged forward with a knife flashing in his hand, but Lingyun caught his forearm and let fire spread across the metal blade.

The man released it with a shout, fear starting to cloud his mind as he fought against the much more powerful opponent.

Lingyun caught the weapon by its heated handle and smiled. "You shouldn’t interrupt when people are talking. Really. Who taught you your manners? It’s basic courtesy. Keep your mouth shut when your betters are here in case you piss them off."

He buried the knife in the man’s shoulder and left him for the plants without another word.

Across the driveway, Zhou Chenghai had reached the largest cluster of attackers. They fired into him until their magazines emptied, then stared as he continued walking through the smoke.

One man grabbed an axe from the back of the truck and swung it with both hands. Unfortunately for him, Zhou Chenghai caught the blade inches from his face.

The wooden handle cracked when he twisted it, leaving the attacker holding half of a useless weapon. Zhou Chenghai took the remaining piece from him, drove it into the side of another man’s knee, and grabbed the first attacker by the front of his coat.

He threw him into the truck hard enough to dent the door.

Two more men rushed him together, but Zhou Chenghai caught one by the throat and used his body to knock the second off his feet. Both hit the pavement, and the roots beneath them immediately opened.

They disappeared before either could stand.

The woman with the shaved head backed toward the lead vehicle, shouting for her remaining people to regroup. Her eyes moved wildly across the road as Yuche broke another man’s jaw with the bat and Lingyun sent fire racing beneath the second truck.

The tires burst beneath the heat becoming nothing more than a fond memory. The moment she saw the destruction, the bald woman reached for the radio clipped to her belt.

That was the moment Rouxi finally moved.

A vine snapped around the woman’s wrist and dragged her arm away from the device.

"Don’t call anyone yet," Rouxi said from the porch, her voice carrying easily through the fighting. "You are going to ruin everyone’s fun. After all, my men haven’t been able to really enjoy themselves lately. Not to mention, your friends should have time to hear you scream before you die."

Being called her man did something to Lingyun that he would never admit to.... ah... who was he kidding. He was going to brag to everyone that Rouxi called him hers. He really needed to find that tattoo artist to tattoo her name on his cock. Maybe he could also tattoo ’Property of Rouxi’ on his back.

Sure, he had a lot of tattoos there, there was probably no usable piece of flesh left.

Lingyun felt the tear threatening to fall in his eyes. Why did he tattoo his back when he was younger? Why couldn’t he leave that for Rouxi?

Letting out a long sigh, Lingyun looked up just in time to see the bald woman looking at Rouxi like she wanted to eat her alive.

Yeah. That wasn’t going to happen.

"Do you understand now?" he purred, his voice low and soft. His eyes narrowed on the woman and he caught a soft blush on her cheeks as she looked at him up and down.

Well... now he had to pluck out her eyes and give them to Rouxi.

Taking a step toward the woman, he froze when Rouxi called out his name softly. "Lingyun." It wasn’t loud, it wasn’t a warning. It was a promise.

Right. They were here to do something. He needed to do something for Rouxi.

He looked away from the dead bitch walking and turned toward the hidden watchers across the road. The binoculars were still raised, although the man holding them had gone completely still.

Good. They were still watching.

They needed to learn their lesson or else they would be next.

Not like Lingyun minded bathing in the blood of Rouxi’s enemies.

It did wonders for his skin and hair.
