Chapter 984: Chapter 773: Death of the Monster (Part 3)
"Mr. Kole, this is not a kindergarten; there’s no need for kind words to comfort each other."
Ai Qing turned back, looked at him expressionlessly: "Just tell me the estimated infection numbers."
After a long silence, Kole replied dryly: "The data brought back by Mr. Tony is scarce, making accurate assessment impossible, my estimates are not prepared and lack reference value."
"What if I need a reference?"
"Those infected, over two thousand people." Kole responded hoarsely, "Carriers in the incubation period should be no less than seven thousand..."
"Mr. Kole, you’ve already completed your work excellently."
Ai Qing nodded, "The matters that follow will be handled entirely by me; please cooperate with the memory blockade later, and this unpleasant temporary assignment can end."
Kole hesitated to speak, then slowly nodded.
Then, the sound of the door opening was heard.
"Ms. Ai Qing, I believe your mission should also conclude."
A middle-aged man who wasn’t supposed to be here walked in from outside and coldly announced.
His somewhat slender figure was not hunched; instead, it looked exceptionally upright, and together with those shadow-enshrouded eyes, exerted great pressure.
The graying hair wasn’t dyed; it was simply combed back, without any concealment or disorder.
Behind the newcomer, Tony, who was supposed to be in charge of security, was already pressed onto the ground by someone, turning his head with difficulty, waving helplessly at Ai Qing.
If anything, this guy probably had no intention of resisting.
Indeed, he just laid on the ground, going with the flow.
Now, the Manager of the Yingzhou Branch—LeNe Yusheng walked into the room, coldly announced: "The Yingzhou Branch will take over all circumstances that follow."
"This does not comply with investigation principles, Lord Yusheng?" Ai Qing remained calm, as if not surprised by his arrival: "There’s no direct command relationship between us, besides, my team is already resolving... isn’t it a bit too anxious to pick peaches at this moment?"
"I said, your mission is over." Le Ne told her indifferently: "This is my jurisdiction, everything happening should be handed over to me; I’ll explain to the Decision Room myself.Next, please cooperate with the handover process."
As he spoke, stern-looking staff flooded in, taking control of everything in the room.
Someone holding a container approached her, asking her to hand over her personal items and all storage media.
But Ai Qing didn’t move, merely looked at Le Ne, suddenly asked:
"What if I say no?"
Le Ne didn’t speak.
A sudden deathly silence, the atmosphere cooled bit by bit.
Kole stayed stationary, blankly watching the two of them, at a loss.
Until Ai Qing suddenly smiled, gentle and harmless.
"Just kidding, don’t be nervous."
She slowly raised her hand, under those wary gazes, handed over the firearm, instruments, and chips in her suit pocket, one by one putting them into the container.
Finally, she placed her phone down, looked at the person beside her: "Do you need me to cooperate with a body search?"
Watched by such gentle eyes, the person holding the container instinctively stepped back, shook his head.
"Thank you for your cooperation, Ms. Ai Qing."
LeNe Yusheng said coldly: "The Yingzhou Branch has prepared a resting place for you; by this time tomorrow, you can return to London and report satisfactorily."
"I hope so."
Ai Qing said nothing more, before leaving, glanced again at the observation room behind the one-way glass... that ’cured’ woman.
Like a wildcat trapped in a cage, uneasily curled in the corner, unaware of her whereabouts, unable to imagine what fate awaits her.
Yet she didn’t resist, allowing those who entered to press her to the ground, put shackles on, compliantly locked into a sealed isolation box.
Only silently shedding tears.
Ai Qing’s steps paused for a moment, slowly turned her head: "Lord Yusheng, regardless of the considerations... enjoying achievements through the extermination of innocents, doesn’t holding it feel shameful?"
Le Ne turned his back to her, said nothing.
Let the door close.
