Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Training Courage

The zombie crashed to the ground. Song You’ai was taken aback by her own swift action, crying out in belated, pleasant surprise, "So fast!"

This knife was at least ten, if not a hundred times sharper than her old kitchen knife!

Ji Taixian, who was tailing the mother-daughter duo, was also stunned. His eyes lit up as he circled the long knife in Song You’ai’s hand. "Auntie, can I take a look? Auntie, where did you pick this up?"

"Picked it up? What are you talking about? My daughter custom-made this for me by hand!" Song You’ai said, tilting her head up, her voice filled with pride.

Ji Taixian gingerly took the knife from Aunt Song and tried poking the zombie’s corpse.

The blade passed right through. When he withdrew it, not a single drop of blood remained on the steel. ’This is basically a Divine Artifact, right?!’

Ji Taixian’s eyes went wide with envy. "Oh, I get it now. Ms. Ning must have made this with her Gold Ability."

"Naturally. My daughter is incredible." Song You’ai patted the young man’s hand, snatched her long knife back, and clutched it tightly, feeling her confidence surge.

"Maybe you could let me borrow it sometime, Aunt Song," Ji Taixian mumbled, tailing Song You’ai like a lost puppy.

"You can borrow the kitchen knife."

"Never mind. Didn’t that kitchen knife of yours already break?"

Though the two were conversing in hushed tones, their eyes remained vigilant, scanning every corner and even checking the ceilings.

This row of clothing stores along the street were all small, privately owned shops, each one only about ten or so square meters.

The one they entered had already been almost completely looted of its clothing.

Xie Ning ducked into the small stockroom in the back and took a look around; it had been picked clean as well.

Only two or three garishly colored striped shirts were left. After a moment’s hesitation, Xie Ning secretly stowed them away.

’If I ever run out of clothes, at least I’ll have these to wear...’

The three of them left the little shop and checked several neighboring stores in quick succession, only to find them all in the same state.

Some shops had their glass doors smashed in, all the merchandise long since swept clean by others.

Finally, the trio stopped in front of a shop whose roll-down security door was still intact.

Ji Taixian pressed his ear to the security door and listened for a moment. "I hear a zombie scratching at the door and hissing. Sounds like more than one?"

No wonder no one had dared to pry it open; they were likely afraid of unleashing a whole nest of them.

Xie Ning nodded at the other two, then stepped forward and placed her hand on the security door.

Her Golden Power surged forth. At her will, the security door began to stretch and contort, gradually rising and twisting.

Standing to one side, Ji Taixian muttered with envy, "Golden Power is so damn useful."

’A Gold Ability User can change the size and shape of any metal object at will? That ability is just broken!’

’It’s making me green with envy. I wish I could trade my Space Ability for hers!’

As the security door continued to stretch and twist upward, seven or eight zombies of varying sizes surged out of the entrance.

PFFT! PFFT! With a few soft sounds, neat, uniform bullet holes simultaneously appeared on the foreheads of the zombies in the front row.

The ones behind stumbled over the fallen bodies, continuing their unsteady advance.

Song You’ai gripped her knife with both hands and brought it down in a heavy chop. Half of a zombie’s body exploded into a mess on the ground.

"Ugh." Song You’ai hurriedly backed away, thoroughly disgusted.

Gu Chen and a few of his guys ran over, quickly shooting down the remaining zombies one by one.

"Are you all right?" Wu Meng asked, his concerned glance carrying a hint of reprimand. "That was too dangerous. With this many zombies, what possessed you to pry open this security door?"
