Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Direct Confrontation at the Door

They were on the ground before they even saw what hit them, taken down by a shadowy figure with a few quick punches.

Xie Ning discovered that since awakening her Gold Ability, her speed, strength, and agility had all risen by another level.

For her now, pummeling ordinary people with her Iron Fist was the simplest thing in the world.

Usually, two punches were enough. Three punches meant the opponent’s physique was exceptionally tough!

By the time Xie Ning had taken down two men with a few quick blows, she turned to see that Ji Taixian and his companion had already dealt with the last one.

"I thought you would come up with a strategy before..."

"Why go to all that trouble for a few petty thieves?"

"How did you know there were only three of them in the backyard?" ’She’s way too precise.’

This reminded Ji Taixian of the sharp glare the young woman had given him when he was halfway over the wall.

He would swear on his life that he had been on top of the wall for less than 0.01 seconds—he hadn’t even had time to swing a leg over—before she spotted him.

’Isn’t that level of precise sensory acuity a bit terrifying?’

Xie Ning hadn’t really thought about it, but Ji Taixian’s question made her pause.

’Come to think of it, have my senses become much sharper since I was reborn?’

"Go load all that cement, bricks, sand, and stone over there into your Space."

Number 98 had illegally built a five-story building, leaving behind plenty of cement and bricks—perfect for reinforcing the walls.

"Can you do it?" Xie Ning asked with concern. "Do you need to strip and dance like a madman?"

"I... think so," Ji Taixian replied, his voice lacking confidence.

"Go over there and take your time. You stay here and help," Xie Ning said, a hint of disdain in her voice.

"You’re going alone, then?" Ji Taixian asked in a low voice.

"Yeah, no one’s upstairs. I’ll go to the front hall and draw their fire. You guys hurry up and grab the stuff."

With those words, Xie Ning jumped out the window and ran off in a flash.

Ji Taixian muttered, "Fools rush in where angels fear to tread," and quickly pulled Wang Zongxuan aside to start collecting the bricks, cement, and other materials.

It wasn’t long before a loud BANG came from the front yard.

Ji Taixian was dumbfounded.

’Of course she has no plan. Charging in headfirst *is* her whole plan.’

The commotion from the entrance naturally alerted everyone in the main hall.

The scantily clad Zhu Huizhen huddled in a corner, clutching her two-year-old daughter tightly. She kept her eyes squeezed shut, not daring to even lift her head.

Fear made her tremble uncontrollably, and her daughter shifted restlessly in her arms.

"Dammit! Go see what’s happening!" A bare-chested, muscular man jumped up from his stool and stalked towards the door, cursing.

The man with a gold chain as thick as a finger around his neck said steadily, "Be careful."

The bare-chested man scoffed. "Let’s see who dares cause trouble on our turf."

The door opened, and the man took a step out, only to see a slender young woman standing in the yard.

She wore a cartoon t-shirt and capris, her hair in a bun. Her jet-black eyes stared right at you, giving off the misleading impression that she was cute.

At her feet, however, lay two of his buddies, curled up like shrimp and rolling on the ground.

Xie Ning glanced at a corner of the yard where a man and a woman were tied back-to-back, their hands bound behind them.

They looked like a mother and son. Both were gagged with strips of cloth. Upon seeing Xie Ning, their expressions grew frantic, and they made muffled "mmph, mmph" sounds at her.

"Well, well, where did this little beauty come from?" The bare-chested man smiled and took a step forward, but his eyes were filled with deep wariness.

His gut told him this woman was anything but simple.
