Chapter 126: Chapter 126: You Are the Chosen One

"Distance to target: 0.1 kilometers. Scanning surrounding environment."

"Proceeding deeper."

"Distance to target: 0.05 kilometers. All systems normal."

The electronic Little Spider crawled in through the crack under the door. SKITTER SKITTER SKITTER. It scurried up the nightstand, approaching Xie Ning’s bed.

"Target’s body temperature is normal. Brain is in a quiescent state. Monitored host has entered a deep sleep cycle. Docking is possible."

"Preparing for immediate docking!"

"Three."

"Two."

The young woman on the bed suddenly snapped her eyes open, her ferocious gaze locked onto the electronic Little Spider right before her.

"Warning: Host has experienced an unscheduled awakening."

"Environmental scan indicates SSS-level danger. Must retreat immediately!"

SHINK! A Metal Spike landed on the nightstand, just 0.01 centimeters from the electronic Little Spider’s leg.

If it hadn’t judged the situation correctly and retracted in time, it would have lost a leg right then and there.

SWISH SWISH SWISH. Countless Metal Spikes closed in from all directions, weaving into a small iron cage that instantly trapped the Little Spider inside.

The Little Spider flinched inside the iron cage as a thin Metal Spike suddenly descended from above, nearly piercing its body.

Xie Ning expressionlessly reinforced the metal cage, one Metal Spike after another wrapping around it until the spider was completely encased, with no way to escape.

The electronic Little Spider was gradually forced into a corner. Xie Ning only needed to send out one more Metal Spike to impale it.

It scrambled its eight thin legs in terror inside the small, spherical metal cage as its electronic voice sped up.

"Analysis: Host danger level SSS. Docking failed. Docking failed. Preparing to upload big data."

"Try uploading one more thing and see if I don’t tear you to pieces."

"Environmental threat detected: extreme danger. Terminating data transmission."

"Talk." A sharp Metal Spike emerged from Xie Ning’s hand, its cold glint aimed at the spider cowering in the corner of the spherical metal cage.

"00008531, what the hell are you? Why did you crawl out of that long-haired woman’s head?"

’That was so disgusting.’ The memory of what she had seen in her dream made Xie Ning’s stomach churn.

"Because 00008531 is a System. The long-haired woman is named Wang Qingyao. She was my previous host and the lucky female lead of this plane."

"It was only with the System’s assistance that Wang Qingyao became one of the most outstanding people in this world. Her beauty and combat abilities were greatly enhanced, and she gained the help of a Dimensional Space, which is why she’s been living so comfortably these past few days."

Xie Ning used the Metal Spike in her hand to lift the yarn-ball-like metal cage, giving the spider a smirk. "Let me get this straight. You’re saying this Wang Qingyao is actually just an ordinary person?"

"Correct. The host was an ordinary person. Constitution: 50. Combat power: 30..."

The spider rattled off a stream of data, but Xie Ning cut it off. "So she never had a Space Ability. It was you who gave her the Dimensional Space?"

"Correct!"

Xie Ning pulled a pitch-black gun from under her pillow and gave the spider a faint smile. "So you gave her this, too?"

"Scanning store item. Firearm designation: M1911-Modified v2. Scanning magazine: 2 rounds remaining."

Xie Ning nodded. That explained it.

’No wonder Xiao Gu thought that woman was strange. A modified replica firearm... where would an ordinary woman even get something like that?’

So it was a gift from this so-called "System."

"System interface... System preparing for retrieval."

Xie Ning expressionlessly stuffed the gun back under her pillow, then silently tossed it onto the living room sofa downstairs.

"System interface failed. Scan indicates M1911-Modified v2 does not exist."

Xie Ning let out a cold laugh as another Metal Spike emerged from her hand.

She formed a pair of long, thin chopsticks from the Metal Spikes, reached into the yarn-ball cage, and clamped them down on the electronic spider’s body.

The electronic spider let out a few staticky squeals. ZZT... ZZT...

"I’d love to see if concentrated sulfuric acid can melt you," Xie Ning said with a grin, squeezing the electronic Little Spider. It let out another staticky squeal as she applied a bit of pressure.

"ZZT..."

"Scanning potential host. Analysis: extreme danger. Danger! DANGER!"

Xie Ning giggled, prodding the Little Spider’s body with her long metal chopsticks. "Is this how you tricked her?"

"This System does not comprehend the host’s meaning."

"System? Plane? Female lead?" Xie Ning suddenly burst out laughing.

"Someone actually fell for that?"

"Why wouldn’t they?" The electronic spider’s mechanical voice now carried a hint of confusion.

"Only the Chosen One or the plane’s female lead can be selected as a host by the System. Shouldn’t you be happy?"

"I’m the Chosen One?"

"Correct. You are the Chosen One. As long as you allow me to dock with you, you will be the next female lead of this plane!"

Xie Ning roared with laughter, laughing so hard her stomach hurt.

"You think I’d believe that?"

The electronic spider immediately went silent.

Xie Ning leaned in closer, her icy gaze staring through the yarn-ball-like metal cage. "00008531, you’re an AI, aren’t you?"

"With the internet being so unreliable right now, how are you even connected?"

"Are you an extraterrestrial product?"

The electronic spider remained silent, playing dead.

"You’re quite interesting. You were constantly reporting numbers earlier. 3.3 kilometers, 0.3 kilometers, 0.01 kilometers."

"’Approaching target...’ You’re just an intelligent navigation system!" Xie Ning lifted the yarn ball and held it in front of her, staring at it with a smile. "Tell me, should I let you go?"

Xie Ning took a bottle of concentrated sulfuric acid, collected in her past life, out of her personal Space and placed it in front of the yarn ball.

"Scanning: a dibasic inorganic strong acid. Capable of reacting with metal!"

"Scanning: Danger! Extremely dangerous individual approaching! Wielding one bottle of concentrated sulfuric acid. Environmental threat level: Terror!"

Xie Ning laughed cheerfully. "You even know about Terror-level? Then why don’t you guess how much acid it’ll take to melt that special metal you’re made of?"

"Scanning host: Deviant-level dangerous individual! Terror level exceeds SSS! Must leave immediately, get far, far away!"

Xie Ning looked at it, her face blank. "Who are you calling a deviant?"

The electronic spider played dead. Three seconds later, a pleasant electronic tune, a series of tinkling plinks and plonks, started playing from inside it.

A moment later, a tiny white flag rose from the spider’s head.

Xie Ning couldn’t help but laugh. She shook the yarn-ball cage. "Hand it over."

"What?"

"The bullets, what else," Xie Ning said, her eyes crinkling with a smile. "Didn’t you say there were two rounds left in the magazine?"

"Start by giving me 100 rounds."

"Impossible!" the electronic spider shrieked in a flustered rage. "Items from the System store must be exchanged for points! You have not yet become 00008531’s host, so you are not qualified to enter the store to make an exchange!"

Xie Ning sighed, took out two pairs of gloves, and began to unhurriedly twist open the bottle cap.

"W-We can negotiate! Even if a deal falls through, goodwill should remain. Host, you mustn’t be too impulsive!"

"Impulse is the Devil!"

"With my current authority, the most I can give you is 50 rounds."
