Perry Yates could hardly believe her eyes. ’How can a single card have three different attributes at the same time?’
But she quickly came to accept it.
Recalling the Sunflower’s recent state, Perry Yates guessed that it must have mutated.
Looking at this one-of-a-kind Three Attribute Card, it would be a lie to say she wasn’t tempted.
Even though it was just a level-less, white-grade junk card.
To others, a White Card might be junk, but not to her.
With Ascension, raising a card’s level wasn’t difficult for her.
With that thought, Perry Yates placed her hand on the card named Twin Sunflowers.
The next second, a white light flashed, and she instantly felt half of her body’s energy drain away.
As expected, ascending a card consumed far more energy than ascending other items.
After one Ascension, the original White Card turned yellow, and a star appeared at the bottom.
She didn’t know if it was her imagination, but Perry Yates felt that after the Ascension, the Twin Sunflowers image on the card had become much clearer.
Looking at the now one-star card in her hand, Perry Yates chose not to fuse with it, nor did she choose to continue its Ascension.
Based on her experience ascending the Space Backpack, she knew that ascending a one-star card to two stars would completely drain all her energy, so she had to find a safe place first.
Perry Yates scanned her surroundings and soon spotted a tree hollow hidden in the undergrowth.
After confirming the tree hollow was uninhabited and appeared to have been abandoned, Perry Yates crawled inside.
But halfway in, she found the hollow was a bit too small. While it could fit her, there would be absolutely no room to spare.
It would be difficult for her to even turn over inside.
’This won’t do.’
So she took out her Chopping Blade and began to widen the hollow, only stopping once the space inside was large enough.
She didn’t waste the excess dirt and wood chips, mixing them with water to seal the entrance. She left only a small air hole to ensure there was enough oxygen inside and to observe the situation outside.
After all this was done, Perry Yates began to restore her energy, continuously using Ascension on the various energy-restoring wild fruits she had picked earlier in preparation for what was to come.
Once she felt her energy was fully restored, Perry Yates took out the Twin Sunflowers card.
Ascension!
She activated her Talent, and a white light flashed across the card.
This time, the Ascension process was extremely slow, but this wasn’t due to the card. Rather, Perry Yates was deliberately controlling the flow of energy from her body.
At first, she had only wanted to see if she could control the card’s Ascension speed, and to her surprise, she succeeded.
As she felt her energy draining, Perry Yates reached to the side with one hand, continuously stuffing Blueberry Fruit and various other wild fruits into her mouth.
About ten minutes later, the second Ascension was finally complete.
The yellow card had turned purple, and the image on it had become even more exquisite and beautiful.
This time, although Perry Yates’s energy was still completely depleted, she didn’t feel the same exhaustion as before.
After filling her stomach with a compressed biscuit and half a bottle of mineral water, she didn’t rush to begin the third Ascension.
She leaned back inside the tree hollow, closed her eyes, and rested quietly, waiting for her energy to recover.
Although she had Blueberry Fruit and other wild fruits to quickly restore her energy, her supply wasn’t infinite. If she wanted this rare Three Attribute Card to reach a higher level, she had to spend her resources wisely.
Neither the game forums nor the beginner’s manual mentioned whether a card could be un-fused after being absorbed. Maybe it was possible, maybe not. After all, no one had ever heard of cards being able to level up, so nobody cared.
But she couldn’t take that gamble.
To maximize her gains, she had to raise this card to the highest possible level before absorbing it.
And so, Perry Yates remained in the tree hollow until noon the next day.
She slowly opened her eyes, feeling her energy completely restored, and once again took out the Twin Sunflower Card.
"Ascension!"
The energy in her body slowly flowed into the card in her hand.
As the energy poured in, the expressions on the Twin Sunflowers also began to slowly change.
The light purple border gradually deepened, shifting through silvery-purple, pale purple, warm purple, deep purple, and finally a dark purple before turning black.
Perry Yates was so focused on the card in her hand that she failed to notice the sky outside had grown completely dark.
Although the process was countless times slower than the last, Perry Yates had found a certain balance within it.
At her current talent level, upgrading a two-star card to three stars was practically impossible; she couldn’t do it even if she drained herself completely.
Therefore, she had deliberately slowed the Ascension speed, hoping to find a balance—ascending while simultaneously recovering.
In the end, she succeeded. It was only with the help of Blueberry Fruit and other wild fruits, but it was a success nonetheless.
Glancing at the completely dark sky outside, Perry Yates slowly closed her eyes.
「Day five of the game.」
Perry Yates opened her eyes early. Feeling that her energy had been restored, she hastily ate a compressed biscuit, took a couple of sips of water, and then eagerly began to ascend the card again.
After several consecutive Ascensions, she had already figured out the pattern.
Each Ascension required more energy than the last.
It had taken her over ten hours to go from two stars to three. From three to four stars, it would only take longer.
Perry Yates took a deep breath, preparing herself for a long battle.
Once everything was ready, the Ascension began.
As energy was injected into it bit by bit, the card in Perry Yates’s hand began to emit a faint white glow.

「Day seven of the game. The Ascension was not over.」
「Day eight of the game.」
「Day nine.」
「Day ten.」
Looking at the card, which had finally turned from black to red, Perry Yates heaved a heavy sigh.
"It’s finally... over!"
Without any hesitation, Perry Yates chose to fuse with it this time.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to continue the Ascension; she simply couldn’t hold on any longer. Moreover, she had consumed every last one of her wild fruits, save for the poisonous ones.
Of course, the most important reason was that upgrading a four-star card to five stars couldn’t be done with Ascension alone; it required the involvement of other cards.
