Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Glacial Realm 1

[Player Perry Yates

Welcome back to the Survival Game.

This round of the game is the Glacial Realm. You will be randomly teleported somewhere in the wilderness. Please do whatever it takes to survive.

The game’s duration is thirty days. Those who survive to the end will receive a generous reward.

On the fifteenth day of the game, you will have one chance to quit. If you cannot continue, please take this opportunity.

Those who quit early will not receive any rewards.

Friendly Reminder: In this game, one hundred fifty thousand natives will also be participating.]

Perry Yates was startled by the system’s words.

The Survival Game Administration had previously released data stating that there would be a maximum of ten thousand players in any single game.

A ratio of one to fifteen, combined with the name "Glacial Realm," gave Perry Yates a bad feeling.

The natives in the game worlds generally had two attitudes toward players. The first was to treat them as invaders and enemies, to be hunted down and exterminated. The second was to be indifferent, treating them as strangers—not with malice, but not with kindness either.

She just didn’t know which category the natives of this world would fall into.

As the white light in front of her faded, before Perry Yates could even get a clear look at her surroundings, she was struck by an extreme cold.

She almost instinctively wrapped her arms around herself as her body began to tremble uncontrollably. The healthy color in her cheeks instantly drained, leaving her pale.

’Damn it, this shitty game doesn’t give you any time to adjust at all.’

With trembling hands, Perry Yates took out her Safe House.

A fairytale-like house suddenly appeared on the vast, white snowy plain.

Once inside the Safe House, Perry Yates breathed a sigh of relief as she felt her body temperature quickly returning to normal.

Then, she took out the clothes she had previously made from animal hides and put them on, finishing with a cloak over top.

Feeling the warmth spread through her body and after taking a sip of the sweet ginger tea she had prepared long ago, Perry Yates let out a comfortable sigh.

She had prepared the sweet tea in advance just in case. She hadn’t expected to need it so soon.

After resting enough, Perry Yates reluctantly left the Safe House.

A blast of cold air hit her, but thankfully, with the protection of her clothes, the chill was bearable.

After putting away the Safe House, Perry Yates surveyed her surroundings.

Snow. As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but a vast expanse of white snow.

She was currently halfway up a tall, snowy mountain. In every direction, as far as she could see, there were only snow-covered mountains of varying heights and sizes, and nothing else.

Although the sky was bright, the sun was hidden behind a thick layer of clouds. Everything around her was silent—an unnerving, frightening silence.

’I should get out of here first.’

Even though her clothes were thick, just standing still for a short while, she could feel the cold wind seeping through the gaps in her clothing.

Moreover, a layer of white frost had already formed on her exposed eyelashes, trembling every time she blinked.

To keep from freezing solid, she knew she had to get moving.

Perry Yates wrapped her white cloak tighter around herself to keep the wind from getting in.

The cloak was made from the hide of a gray wolf.

The originally gray fur had turned completely white after several rounds of Ascension, making it the perfect camouflage in this vast world of ice and snow.

At the same time, to avoid getting snow blindness from staring at the snow for too long, Perry Yates took a pair of sunglasses from her storage space and put them on.

After finishing these preparations, she cautiously took her first step. And then, she was gone.

Her entire body had sunk deep into the snow.

’Wait, is the snow around here really this thick? And it looks like fresh snow, too.’

’So why was I fine where I was standing just now?’

Soon, Perry Yates figured out why.

There was a rock underneath the spot where she had been standing, which was why she hadn’t sunk.

In this situation, walking was clearly impossible. She would have to slide.

After climbing out of the snow and back onto the rock, Perry Yates found a sled in her storage space and sat on it.

Indeed, fortune favors the prepared.

Sitting on the sled, Perry Yates began to move slowly across the snow by pushing with her hands, leaving a long trail on the white ground.

As for where she was going, to be honest, she had no idea. The important thing was to get moving.

In this vast expanse of white, she couldn’t even tell east from west, let alone decide on a destination.

Of course, even if she could tell which way was which, it wouldn’t be much use.

Thanks to her superior eyesight, Perry Yates could see far into the distance, so she was keenly aware that there was likely no one else within a one-kilometer radius.

But the game had stated from the beginning that at least one hundred fifty thousand natives lived here.

Under these circumstances, that could only mean one thing: the game map this time was enormous.

After all, it was a place called the Glacial Realm.

After an unknown amount of time, Perry Yates suddenly stopped pushing.

’Was that just my imagination? Why did it look like a patch of snow up ahead was glowing?’

Looking closer and confirming that the snow was indeed glowing, Perry Yates couldn’t resist sliding over to see what was going on.

’There must be something glowing under the snow, with the light seeping up through the gaps.’

Thinking this, Perry Yates began to dig with her hands.

After digging about fifty centimeters deep, a wooden box appeared before her.

"Is this a treasure box?"

Looking at the box in front of her, Perry Yates tried to open it.

The box wasn’t locked, so it opened without much effort, revealing its contents.

A steamer basket of freshly made soup dumplings, two bottles of mineral water, some Wood, and a pair of earmuffs for warmth.

Seeing these items, Perry Yates’s first instinct was to put them all away, especially the soup dumplings and water.

In such cold weather, they would cool down and freeze in no time.

It seemed the Survival Game system also considered this game to be quite difficult, providing them with supply-filled treasure boxes.

This had happened before. According to players from that time, one game had apparently been a wasteland world where everything was contaminated, but treasure boxes containing various supplies would spawn randomly.

To survive, players had to search for these treasure boxes to get the supplies inside.

After all, not every player had an item like a Space Backpack that allowed them to bring their own resources into the game.

Normally, when players entered a game, they could only bring the items they had on their person.
