Chapter 1047: Trap
"So, what’s our plan this time? You’ve told us that you have a plan, but you haven’t told us about your plan," One of the sword masters asked.
"Well..." Clovis had gathered everyone in the room, so it was time to reveal everything. He told them about the information they had received and the potential of a Tier 9 human interfering with this battle.
The moment they reached the last part, their jaws had already dropped to the floor.
Even Stefany didn’t know any of this.
"What? A Tier 9 human will come to this battle?"
"We are not prepared to fight a Tier 9 human."
"That’s right. Even if we work together, it’s impossible."
"Does the Libation Fiesta have the ability to fight one?"
"But this is not enough. If the entire Libation Fiesta is focused on the Tier 9 human, there are still the rest of the team. We won’t be able to hold them with only a few of us."
Obviously, they were confused and panicking. Even Stefany felt like she was about to tear up. "C-Clovis. Are we really going to do this?"
"First of all, yes, the Tier 9 human might come. According to our information, the enemy only has nineteen people. In other words, they’re hiding that one person, and that person should be the 11th Tier 9 human in the world."
They gulped nervously.
"However, we’re also only nineteen members. Don’t you see why?" Clovis continued.
"Now that you mention it..."
"Don’t tell me..."
"You have prepared a Tier 9 human for us as well?"
"If that’s the case, we have a chance to win this."
People regained their confidence. They misunderstood the situation. Clovis had expected that Michael Hacfield or Ezekiel Elseingarde would be coming to help them. However, both of them had already been stopped by their respective opponents. This would prevent both of them from coming to his aid.
Since his allies misunderstood it, the enemy should also misunderstand the situation. That was why Clovis didn’t say anything. In fact, no one actually knew Clovis’ actual plan except for Melody.
Clovis only assured them of the potential that they also had a Tier 9 human.
"In any case, the plan is simple. For the next three days, I need all of you to stay in this hotel. No one is allowed to go out."
"Really?"
"This..."
Everyone was confused. It felt suffocating to live here for three days.
Clovis raised one finger. "There is a loophole that I want to abuse in the rules. If you leave this hotel, the enemy might abuse it as well. That’s why please follow my instructions for now.
"After three days, we will go to the south gate to get the closest distance to the forest and head there.
"Since no battle is allowed before entering the forest, we should be able to reach the forest smoothly. However, don’t let your guard down."
They contemplated for a moment. The leader of the R.A.I.D. couldn’t help but ask, "What is our chance of winning against them?"
"Hmm..." Clovis looked down, calculating. "60%? There are too many unknown variables because the enemy is also desperate. I’m trying to eliminate the unknown variables first to see if we can increase our chances of winning.
"However, if you end up getting eliminated, it will decrease our chances. I know how vexing it must be to you, but I need you to follow this one instruction."
They thought for a moment before agreeing to this term.
"All right. You’re the one in charge this time, so we’ll follow your instructions."
"Thank you." Clovis nodded with a smile.
"What am I going to do now, Clovis?" Stefany asked. Since this was her battle of succession, it was only natural for her to do something.
To her surprise, Clovis shook his head. "You don’t have to do anything for now. By doing something, you will alert our enemies. I don’t want to take that chance, so I need you to remain here as well and do nothing."
"I..." Stefany crossed her arms. On the one hand, it would be good if Clovis just handed her the victory. On the other hand, she felt wrong when she did nothing but got the victory.
Clovis smirked. "There is one role for you later, but I will tell you when the time comes."
"I understand!" Stefany’s expression brightened. She swore she would play her role brilliantly.
Clovis smiled. "Let the game begin."
...
In the city, a middle-aged man stood in the middle of the street, buying a snack for himself.
"Here you go, sir." The stall owner smiled, handing over the piping hot food.
But when the man had just grabbed the food, a man with tattered clothes suddenly bumped into him, knocking the food over.
"!!!" The middle-aged man widened his eyes and saw his snack had just been spoiled.
More importantly, the one bumping into him suddenly pointed at him and shouted, "What the hell are you doing, man? Do you even have eyes? Are you going to pay me for my clothes?"
He was showing that his clothes were smeared with the coffee he spilled because of the bump.
The fact that this man was at fault but still dared to tell the victim to pay for his clothes just annoyed the middle-aged man.
As a Tier 8 human, he had an ego. He wouldn’t allow some random punks to mock him like this.
"Pay you? How about you pay me?"
"Why would I pay you? You’re the one causing all this mess. Just look at my clothes!"
"Because if you don’t pay me..." The middle-aged man choked the man’s neck.
"Khhh..." The man grabbed the middle-aged man’s wrist and tried to free himself. "Aaahh..."
"Even if I kill you, do you think people will care? No, they won’t even find your corpse." The middle-aged man snorted.
The man panicked. He raised his hand as though he wanted to point to someone, but suddenly another man appeared, grabbing his wrists.
"Please put him down, Mr. Rick. It looks like you’ve forgotten about the rules. There’s no harm allowed to the city here, including the people. And now, you’re harming a citizen, so I’m afraid I have to disqualify you."
"You are... the Dark Supreme?!" The middle-aged man gritted his teeth.
"Please put him down or we’ll make you to."
The middle-aged man noticed that several Tier 8 humans suddenly walked around him as if telling him that they would attack if he didn’t comply.
"Let me tell you one more time, you are disqualified. If you continue participating in this competition, I shall disqualify Jean. The best you can do right now is to leave this city."
He realized that he had walked into someone’s trap.
