Chapter 23 - We Don't... Have Any.
" we greet you great Kenji-sama!" The children said simultaneously, as they looked at Kenji with their big round and cute eyes.
Kenji looked at them strangely as he heard those words: Kenji-sama. The word brought back an unpleasant memory that made a frown wash up on his face.
The words brought back memories of him with his co-workers, with their fake smiles and manipulative skills. The word: Kenji-sama, was a regular word he would occasionally hear from their mouths that would make him smile. But now he just felt disgusted by that word.

" Does he not like us?"
" Yeah, he hasn't said anything for three minutes now and he has a big frown on his face. do you think he might be looking for a way to tell us to go away?"
" Maybe that's why, he must be thinking of a softer approach to tell us that he doesn't want us at all,"
" Brother, why does nobody want us? Are we bad children?"
" Yes brother, why, we just keep getting thrown away, he had just said he would take care of us, and now it's seems he wants to go for take backseys,"
" I don't know either sisters, I don't know,"

Seeing Kenji still in a dazed frowing state, a voice suddenly called out to him," Kenji what are you doing, those kids might get the wrong idea!" Shreya said in alarm, as she snapped Kenji back to reality.
Kenji looked down at the children and could clearly see the saddness in their eyes.
The children's eyes had become sunken as they thought they had realized the situation.
" Kenji-sama? You don't have to worry, we understand. Nobody likes us anyways, so we'll just be on our way," said the male in the children as he stepped in front of his sisters in a protective manner, " thank you for helping us find off the beast and paying them so as we would no longer be slave, but right now, we must get going," he continued, as he immediately turned around, and slowly walked away with his two sisters.
The downcast exppression and the saddened voice of the children alone could easily explain that they were truly in despair and sorrow.
" Wait!" Kenji exclaimed, halting them in their steps.
Although, the children had stopped, they hadn't expected want Kenji was about to do.
They had suddenly felt someone pressing against their backs, as his strong firm hands, wrapped around their body.
" I will be delighted, if you three little change would let me be your sama" Kenji said in a heart-warming manner.
The children didn't know how to feel at this moment, as they just stood there stiffly in Kenji's embrace.
Kenji tightened the hug a bit more," I promise to protect you and make sure you have a great life, no harm would ever come to you...ever," Kenji said with a smile that made the children also reciprocate with another smile.
Finally, somebody wanted them. Finally, they won't feel like their alone anymore, they finally have someone to be with. Finally, the bad times of suffering we're gone, as that one hug had reassured them that: yes, thier life has become better from now on.

After the heart-warming moment, Kenji decide to take them out to dinner since they looked so frail and malnurished.
He then decided that after that, he would take them out for a change of clothes, and if possible some toys!
As he was now a their care-taker, he needed to plan well for them and make sure they have the necessary resources that regular kids would have. He also thought about school, but after asking around, this world doesn't have any thing like that, so school was immediately ruled out of the options. He decided that he would teach them himself if necessary.
Though it has an academy, only those at age sixteen and at a particular power range can get in, and these children were not suitable for either of the category...yet!
" So I guess it's time for introductions," Kenji said with a soft smile, as he watched his own kids dig into the food.
It was just a regular restaurant meal and they were already so excited at eating it. Kenji felt bad as a wave of pity washed over him.
He wondered what they were fed by those slave traders. Probabbly some gross gooey like food.
* I definitely have to give them a great meal for the next few weeks. There's no way I can allow my children to go hungry and malnurished* he thought to himself with determination steeling his expression.
The children paused and stopped eating for a minute, though, it seems they still want to continue eating as their eyes kept drifting back to their plates.
They each out up an expression of confusion to Kenji's words, as truly, they couldn't comprehend his words.
Seeing this, Kenji knew they didn't understand," what I meant to say was: what are your names?" Kenji said, a bit embarrassed by his own words.
He was now a care taker to the three, and he didn't even know their names, what a terrible person he is at his job.
The boy in the three looked up to Kenji," we don't...have any names," he said ever so silently, but his whisper was still enough for Kenji to hear.
He was shocked to the core by what he heard, but he was also excited.
He was excited at the thought of also having to name them. He had always wanted to name a child, but he doesn't have a wife to give birth to a child, and what sensible parent would let him name their children?!
" You see, when we were kept as slaves, we were mostly addressed by our genders, and since we were born, we don't remember anything about our parents, and so we believe we don't have any names," said the boy, as he looked to the ground a bit ashamed.
Hearing this, Kenji smiled at the children. If only they knew how happy he was about this. How would they feel.
" Don't worry, I promise you that I will-"

Before he could finish his sentence, someone suddenly barged into the bustling restaurant, suddenly stopping the chatter to halt.
" Who dares look me in the eyes and not recognize me?!" Said a burly man with a huge brown beard and braided hair. He held a huge great axe in his hands as he strodded through the restaurant like he owned the place.
" Who the hell do you think you are huh buddy?!" Said one if the customers, a bit irritated by the man's disturbance.
How can someone just enter into a restaurant, and ask everyone to recognize him? Is he some kind of hero?!
Hearing this, the burly man suddenly grabbed the head of the man who had just spoken and threw him a far distance to the other side of the restaurant!
Crash!
The man smashed into multiple tables and chairs, until he fell to a halt after hitting the wall hard. He immediately fell unconscious, as blood spilled from all parts of his head.
This immediately made people in the restaurant know that he wasn't here for jokes.
" Kenji-sama, that man is scary, and I don't like him," said one of the girls, as she had a distressed exppression on her face, similar to the one her siblings are also putting on.
Hearing this, Kenji shook his head. He was still not used to them calling him Kenji-sama but eventually, he knew he had to get used to it.
Anyways, Kenji decided that they should leave since it would be better than going off to tell the unruly man to shut up and leave: they would just be asking for trouble.
Kenji and the children stood up with a frown as they prepared to leave, but the moment they took a few steps towards the exit, a huge axe suddenly came hacking down in front of them!
Boom!
The axe made a thundering sound as it smashed through the wood on the ground. Luckily enough for Kenji and the kids, the axe was only a few feet in front of them, if they had walked any faster before, they might have gotten chopped down!
Kenji frowned at the situation, as he turned around to face the burly man who was already standing right behind them with a menancing look. He seemed to be trying to intimidate them.
" How dare you leave before I tell you to?!"
