Chapter 1109: Chapter 270: Wood Main Priest (2)

"Turaman is my old friend, and Erune is also his homeland. He does not want to see his homeland fall, and naturally, I must help him. Besides, this does not conflict with my own stance. Young man, my old friend has placed some of his chips on you, and hence, I don’t mind staying in Ambeser a little longer. However, time is limited. I cannot influence the main hall’s matters, and at most, I can only find a way to delay a bit of time." Wood finally spoke openly, looking at Brand and said, "You don’t have much time left. From today’s performance, you seem smart, and I believe you understand what I mean."

Brand took a deep breath, finally making sense of the relationships involved. Yet, he never expected that Turaman would have the Holy Temple of Ambeser on his side. Though the time is brief, it greatly benefits his actions. This surprise was heaven-sent, even more so than when he obtained the Adversity Heaven card set.

He nodded to Wood, the Main Priest, and said, "I understand."

"As long as you understand, that’s good. Externally, just continue using your original rhetoric. You should know that if the reputation of the Holy Temple were tainted, the subsequent repercussions are not something your Territory could withstand, not even Erune." The Lord of Priest said emotionlessly.

Of course, Brand understood this point. He originally didn’t want to disturb this big shot either, but didn’t expect Turaman had already arranged everything. Brand recalled that during his time at the Trade Wind Ring, he did not talk much with William or that Influential Scholar, but it was not surprising since he was the leader of the past Silver Alliance, deducing his intentions from just a tiny clue. However, Brand was more curious about how the other party viewed him. If they truly believed he could save Erune, then by joining his camp, with the influence of that Influential Scholar, at least the Princess’s side could gain an equal footing with the numerous northern nobles.

Yet that Influential Scholar chose to lend a hand from the sidelines. What did he truly want to do? Was it because the Silver People were reluctant to interfere with mortal affairs, as he said? Brand thought this was unlikely, otherwise, the Wizards of the future wouldn’t fight over the Ancient Tablet until it became irreconcilable.

...

Finally, Brand stayed in the quiet chamber of the Holy Temple Knight transformation at the Ande Fulei Grand Temple for about half an hour. The transformation process for a Holy Temple Knight required roughly this time. Besides the ritual itself, the Priest presiding over the ceremony would also ask some questions after the Knight’s transformation. However, Wood, the Main Priest, naturally omitted this step, and instead, they discussed many issues concerning the situation in Erune. Yet, regarding the reminder from the Great Priest about the Tuokui Lion-man and the successor, Brand didn’t seem too concerned.

Because he knew what would happen in the future.

Historically, the change in the Ambeser diocese wouldn’t occur until the next year, and the Tuokui Lion-man wouldn’t dare invade lightly in the short term, unless something changed in history. However, in reality, the impact of what he did on the entire history was not as large as imagined. At least Brand did not feel that what he had done so far could affect Erune or even some decisions of the Holy Temple.

This seemed rather absurd.

After half an hour had passed, Brand took his leave from the Great Priest of Ambeser. He did not mind staying there a bit longer, but staying too long would inevitably arouse suspicion from outsiders. Moreover, the idea of transforming into a Holy Temple Knight had already arisen while he was outside Ridenburg, but it was merely one among many of his plans during this trip. Next, Brand planned to head to the largest auction house in Ambeser. He still had a painting of the Dark Shining Princess that he hadn’t sold. To someone who understands, this artwork was worth a fortune; however, to someone like Brand, who lacked any art appreciation, it was only equivalent to the funds needed for future territorial development.

Such thoughts, if voiced, would probably brand him the most uncultured noble in all of Erune by the following day, even worse than those nouveau riche. However, fortunately, Brand never considered himself a noble; the so-called noble identity was merely a guise for his actions. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

But Brand was somewhat troubled that the noble auctions in Ambeser, like other noble gathering places, were inaccessible without a certain status. He knew the owner of the auction house was a member of the Ambeser merchant guild, a middle-aged man named Donner, who held an honorary title. However, this gentleman was wealthy beyond measure, and meeting him was not easy. Furthermore, the man had his own channels to gather auction items, so it wasn’t easy for Brand to get involved.

Not being very familiar with the affairs within the noble circles, he prepared to ask Antitina, who was waiting outside. Among their party, only this noble lady had a better understanding of Erune’s noble circles. But before he reached the outer courtyard, he heard an angry woman’s voice:

"Sir, please show some respect. This is the Flame Temple!"

Brand froze, instinctively thinking that the two ladies who had come with him encountered trouble. But on closer listening, he realized he did not recognize the woman’s voice, and he couldn’t help but be slightly baffled. Who was outside? Where did Antitina and Qian go?
