Chapter 71: Chapter 71 When Alphas Collide
Author
Alpha Dominic nearly lost his shit when he walked past the private dining room and saw Alpha Zack sitting across from Elara.
This was her "business thing"? A cozy dinner with her ex?
It took every bit of willpower he had not to storm in there and drag her out.
Xavier, Vincent’s cousin, noticed Dominic’s angry look and raised an eyebrow. "Looks like our Alpha King’s pissed off tonight."
Vincent rolled his eyes. "Ever since he got married, he’s been a total mess."
Alpha Dominic ignored Vincent’s sarcastic comment and poured Xavier a whiskey. "Thanks for helping me out last time."
Xavier smiled and took a sip.
Just as he put his glass down, Alpha Zack walked through the door.
"Alpha King, you asked to see me?" Alpha Zack tried to sound respectful. He hadn’t expected Xavier to be there.
"Xavier, long time no see."
Xavier nodded politely. "Let’s keep this civil. Come on, have a drink with us." He filled Alpha Zack’s glass himself, hoping to keep things from getting ugly.
Alpha Dominic stood up. His smile looked fake. "Since Xavier’s playing host, I’ll drink to that."
Alpha Zack quickly raised his glass, eager to please the Alpha King.
But instead of drinking, Alpha Dominic "accidentally" spilled his entire whiskey all over Alpha Zack’s expensive shirt.
The room went dead silent.Even Vincent’s mouth fell open.
Alpha Zack stood there dripping wet, but he didn’t dare get angry at the Alpha King. "Alpha King, it’s... it’s fine. Accidents happen."
Alpha Dominic set his glass down casually. "Oops. My bad."
"Here, let me help you with that."
Then his fist connected with Alpha Zack’s jaw. Hard and fast.
Before Alpha Zack could even think, Alpha Dominic tackled him to the floor and started punching.
Xavier didn’t want this fight all over Instagram tomorrow. He had his bodyguard pull them apart.
Alpha Zack finally got himself together. Blood was running from his nose. He was confused and scared but tried to stay respectful. "Alpha King, I... I don’t understand. Did I offend you somehow?"
Alpha Dominic fixed his tie and shrugged. "I don’t like your face. That clear enough?"
Alpha Zack kicked over a chair and stormed out.
Vincent dragged the still-fuming Alpha Dominic to his car. "Have you completely lost your mind?"
Alpha Dominic looked at his bloody knuckles and said casually, "Hit me."
Vincent stared at him. "What?"
"I think marriage has fried your brain."
Alpha Dominic grabbed Vincent’s hand and made him throw a decent punch at his face. He checked the damage in the side mirror. "Perfect."
"Now drive me home."
Elara
After Zack left, the atmosphere at our business dinner got way better.
Mark and the others had been drinking a lot, so they called rides home.
I only had one shot. Just enough to feel a little buzzed but not drunk.
I was scrolling through my phone in the car when I saw a news alert:
#Alpha Zack Beaten Up by Mystery Alpha?*
My heart jumped.
[ Who would dare fight Zack?]
[Maybe Dominic?]
I sat up and told the driver to hurry. I was worried Dominic had gone after Zack because of me.
I rushed upstairs. Dominic’s bedroom was dark.
[Where is he? ]
"Looking for me?" Dominic’s voice came from behind me.
I turned around.
He was watching me with that smug look, but there was a cut on his lip.
I blurted out, "Did you fight with Zack?"
"Yeah," Dominic said casually. "I saw him forcing you to drink."
My heart fluttered. "You idiot, I only had one shot."
"Wait here. I’ll get the first aid kit."
Dominic nodded. "Okay."
"I’m ready."
I stared at him. "You want me to fix your cut?"
Dominic raised an eyebrow. "I helped you last time, right?"
"Fine."
I took a cotton swab and dipped it in medicine. "This will sting. Don’t move."
I knelt in front of him.
Dominic leaned down, bringing his face closer. His warm breath touched my skin. It sent little electric shocks up my arm.
I tried to ignore the feeling and focused on cleaning his cut.
"Ow..." Dominic made a pain sound.
I stopped. "Does it hurt bad?"
"A little."
I frowned. I was actually worried. "Don’t fight with Zack anymore."
"He doesn’t deserve you worrying about him."
That seemed to make him really happy.
Dominic couldn’t hide his smile. "Elara, do I deserve your worry?"
