Chapter 112: Chapter 112 The Spy’s Discovery
Author
The girl who had asked about Elara’s love life circled back to her. She leaned forward with renewed interest, clearly not ready to let the topic drop.
"By the way, Elara, you had so many male wolves from outside our academy chasing after you back then. Are you mated soon?"
Elara sighed inwardly. She set down her fork carefully, steeling herself for what was clearly going to be another round of probing questions. A peaceful meal was apparently too much to ask for.
She smiled slightly. Her voice remained calm and measured. "Actually, I’m already mated."
The announcement hit the table like a small bombshell. Several conversations stopped mid-sentence, and all eyes turned to Elara with varying degrees of surprise, curiosity, and barely concealed disappointment.
Professor Williams looked surprised. Her eyebrows rose as genuine pleasure crossed her features. "Mated so soon? Is it the Alpha you were seeing a few years ago?"
Once, Professor Williams had run into Elara near her business. At that time, Elara had mentioned she was dating an Alpha.
Back then, the professor had considered introducing her nephew who had just returned from studying abroad. But she immediately dropped the idea upon hearing Elara was taken.
Elara’s smile widened. "No, Professor Williams. That bond ended. I mated with someone else."
"I see! Congratulations, Elara! I’m truly happy for you!" Professor Williams beamed. Her genuine warmth stood in stark contrast to the calculating looks around the rest of the table.
The girl who had asked the question looked annoyed. Her face fell as she realized her fishing expedition had backfired spectacularly. She had lost an opportunity to embarrass Elara further.
Jessica’s eyes flashed with joy. She reached over and squeezed Elara’s hand affectionately. "Congratulations, Elara."
Selina’s carefully maintained smile faltered for just a moment, her fingers tightening around her wine glass.
The news clearly wasn’t sitting well with her perfectly orchestrated evening.
One of Selina’s friends deliberately asked, "So, Elara, what does your mate do? Which pack is he from?"
Her tone was sickeningly sweet, but her eyes were sharp with malicious curiosity.
Hannah tensed beside Elara, recognizing the loaded nature of the question.
In werewolf society, these weren’t casual inquiries - they were status checks, designed to establish hierarchy and find weaknesses.
Elara gathered her purse with deliberate slowness, her movements radiating quiet confidence. She was tired of keeping up appearances. "I’m surprised you’re so interested in my mate."
She stood gracefully, her posture straight and regal. When she looked down at the girl who had asked, there was steel in her gaze. "But I’m afraid I must decline to answer your question."
Elara’s assertiveness once again caught everyone off guard.
Professor Williams smiled approvingly.
[ This young she-wolf had truly grown up. She had developed a backbone and was no longer submissive.
Good for her!]
"Professor, my mate is nearby and coming to pick me up. Hannah and I should be going. I’ll visit you privately another time."
Professor Williams nodded. "Go ahead, girls. Drive safely."
After Elara and Hannah left, the table fell silent for a moment.
Charlotte scoffed, "Who knows what kind of wolf she actually mated with?"
"Diana, why don’t you go see your good friend off? Maybe catch a glimpse of our former beauty queen’s mate. Let’s see who this impressive Alpha really is."
Diana reluctantly became the sacrificial pawn. "Fine."

Hannah looked puzzled once they were outside. "Is Alpha King really coming?"
"No, I made that up!" Elara admitted.
"I thought he was actually picking us up. I’ll call my driver to wait for us."
Just as they stepped out of the building, a sleek Rolls Royce Cullinan flashed its headlights. The window rolled down smoothly.
Elara stared in surprise. "You actually came?"
Alpha Dominic’s arm rested casually on the window frame. One eyebrow arched elegantly. "What’s this, darling? Are you suggesting we share some kind of mate bond telepathy?"
Elara wished she could immediately take back her words.
Hannah was excited. "Alpha King, your timing is perfect!"
She hadn’t missed their former classmate skulking behind them.
"Quick, Elara, let’s get in!" She lowered her voice. "Diana is hiding back there, watching us. No doubt Charlotte sent her to spy."
Alpha Dominic stepped out of the car. He moved with the predatory grace typical of a powerful Alpha. He opened the doors for both women with perfect courtesy. "Please, ladies."
Elara’s ears turned inexplicably red. "Thank you," she mumbled.
After closing the door, Alpha Dominic turned and cast an icy glance toward the shadows where Diana was hiding. His eyes flashed golden for just a moment.
It was a deliberate display of Alpha dominance that only another wolf would recognize.
Diana’s wolf instinctively cowered at the silent threat from such a powerful Alpha. Her heart raced as she caught his scent on the wind. Definitely not someone to mess with.
When she returned to their private dining room, someone asked mockingly: "So, Diana, did you see Elara’s mate?"
Diana bit her lip. She hesitated before speaking: "I think I just saw Alpha Dominic Wolfe picking up Elara."
"What? The Wolfe Pack? You mean THE Wolfe Pack?"
"How could Elara possibly be connected to the most powerful pack in the region!"
Diana wasn’t completely certain. The Wolfe family was legendary - their pack had controlled vast territories for generations, and their influence extended across multiple industries. But she’d only caught a glimpse in the shadows.
Charlotte dismissed it immediately. "That’s impossible. The Wolfe Pack only associates with the most elite bloodlines. How could someone like Elara catch their attention? You must have seen wrong."
Diana forced a smile. "Maybe."
Meanwhile, Selina’s claws dug into her palm as she smiled. "It’s quite dark today. Mistaken identities happen."
By the end of the conversation, even Diana was convinced she must have been mistaken.
