Chapter 107: Chapter 107 Wedding Wars

Elara

I stared at my phone case for a moment.

Then Dominic’s deep voice reached my ear. "Don’t get the wrong idea. It’s just to keep up appearances."

I forced a smile. "Right."

But my fingers holding the pink phone case still felt warm.

[So it was all just for show?]

When we got home, we found an unexpected little visitor.

Orion’s eyes lit up when he saw us. "Hey, Aunt Elara! Grandpa said he’s going out of town and I should stay here for a few days."

I smiled warmly. "That’s fine. You can stay as long as you want."

"Awesome! I’ll take the same room as last time!" he said cheerfully.

I froze for a second before smiling again. "Sure."

I started packing my things to clear out the room for him.

Meanwhile, Orion pulled out his smartwatch and whispered, "Uncle Dominic, you promised to send the money. Hurry up before Aunt Elara notices!"

Dominic sent the money right away. He even praised him. "Well done. Keep up the good work."

The smart boy kept quiet about his thoughts. "Thanks, Uncle Dominic! Always happy to help. I gotta go now!"

After he left, Elara went to the study. "I’ll sleep in the master bedroom tonight. With Orion here, it wouldn’t be right to go to another room."

Dominic raised an eyebrow and smirked. "You’re calling the shots. Whatever you say goes."

Elara turned and ran. She knew nothing good ever came out of Dominic’s mouth.

Just to be safe, she warned him. "I need to get up early tomorrow. I’m meeting Hannah to try on bridesmaid dresses."

Dominic propped his head on one hand. His voice was low and tempting. "Is my dear wife worried I might try something?"

Elara rolled over. She pulled the blanket up to cover half her face. "Going to sleep now."

Dominic moved closer slowly. He smiled as his long, cool fingers pulled down her blanket. "Sleep well. Good night."

Then she heard him lie down.

Thank God, he really wasn’t going to try anything.

She felt tired. Soon her breathing became steady as she fell asleep.

The next day, Orion had an art class. Elara couldn’t go with him. She asked Dominic to take him instead.

She headed to the bridal shop.

"Elara, I think I’ll go with this one. It’s flattering," Hannah said. She looked at herself in the mirror.

The light purple bridesmaid dress made her look good without being too flashy. Hannah liked it more and more.

"I’m your maid of honor, and I’m the only bridesmaid. This is perfect!"

"Has Dominic picked his groomsmen yet?" she asked.

Elara hadn’t asked about that. "I think Vincent will be his best man."

Though she wasn’t sure if Dominic really wanted Vincent as his groomsman.

"Oh!" Hannah suddenly spoke up. "Elara, can you move your wedding date up?"

Their wedding was set for the end of next month. That was too far away for Hannah.

Elara shook her head. "I can’t. Dominic’s father picked the date himself. It wouldn’t be right to change it now. Do you have something going on at the end of the month?"

If Hannah really couldn’t make it, she’d have to find another bridesmaid.

Hannah looked sad. "No, I don’t have anything. It’s just..."

"Okay, I’ll just tell you straight. Zack and that woman are moving their wedding up. It’s in two weeks. Zack even gave me an invitation for you."

Hannah sighed. "I know you won’t go. I wasn’t going to tell you, but what Zack’s doing is so disgusting."

She was so sick of his behavior that she wanted to disown him as her family!

"If your wedding happened at the same time or earlier than his, it would totally steal his thunder!"

But sadly, Elara’s wedding was scheduled after theirs.

Hannah’s eyes suddenly lit up. "You know what? Even if we can’t beat them to the altar, we can make sure your wedding is ten times better. Let Zack see what a real wedding looks like."

I smiled and shook my head. "Early or late, it doesn’t matter."

"But about their wedding, I don’t think I’ll—"

Before I could finish saying "go," Dominic appeared out of nowhere. His eyes narrowed slightly as he took the invitation from Hannah’s hand.

"We’ll attend this wedding," he said smoothly. "Please tell Zack that, Hannah."

Both Hannah and I looked up, surprised. My lips parted slightly. "You..."

Orion came up behind Dominic, excitement in his young voice. "Can I come too, Uncle Dominic? It sounds like fun!"

I looked at them both in disbelief. "Don’t be ridiculous, Dominic."

"I’m not being ridiculous. If they had the guts to invite us, we certainly have the guts to attend. Don’t worry, we won’t cause a scene at their big day."

His eyes sparkled with mischief. "When it’s time for our wedding, I’ll have my assistant personally deliver our invitation to him."

Zack had clearly pushed Dominic’s buttons.

Hannah nodded enthusiastically. "Of course, I’ll definitely let him know!"

I shot my best friend a look. "Hannah!"

"If Dominic wants to go, then go! Since Zack invited you, show up with your husband! What’s the big deal? Dominic, you have my full support!"

I sighed and gave up. "Fine.Going isn’t such a big deal."

I just wanted to keep my distance from Zack.

"Oh, Elara, I almost forgot to tell you something," Hannah continued. "Do you remember Professor Williams from Luna Academy? This is Professor Williams’ last year before retirement. The reunion is this weekend. Will you come?"

Professor Williams’ favorite student had always been me.

My eyes softened. "Yes, I’ll go."
