Chapter 1253: Chapter 1253: No Visitors Allowed for Miss Su Li
"You saw that, right? With the way Old Seven was acting, I’m afraid if we try to visit Su Li again, we won’t even be able to get in. That ward is like a damn fortress now. Tsk tsk, looks like they’re going to keep her there till she gives birth to a son, and then carve up our assets again!"
The Feng Family already had a lot of people, and everyone wanted a share. They, as illegitimate children, couldn’t get that much to begin with, and now there was another one coming to grab a piece of the pie.
The most important thing was that the child in Su Li’s belly was Mr. Qi’s—Feng Ciye’s—child, the Feng Family heir. That made it a whole different story; she’d probably be able to walk away with a huge chunk of money.
Just thinking about that money being divided up for the child in Su Li’s belly made the whole group feel like someone was carving into their hearts with a knife, cutting so deep they could hardly breathe.
Damn it.
Xue Xin looked over at Wu Pei, the birth mother of the Fifth Miss, who was cursing under her breath beside her. Her red lips curled into a smile as she said, "That ward might be as heavily guarded as a fortress, but who doesn’t have a weak spot somewhere?"
*
Ever since that farce in the ward last time, fewer people had come to visit her during her pregnancy.
Su Li was quite happy with the peace and quiet. During the day, she read paper books and got her drip for the pregnancy, while all the Star Sky Entertainment matters were handed over to Zhou Yitian and the others. Life was very comfortable.
Except... her eyes were getting worse.
Every day there were at least two or three hours when she couldn’t see clearly, and her vision was deteriorating faster and faster. As a pregnant woman, she just pretended to sleep and muddled through those times.
But inside, she was very worried. If her eye problem got worse and the time she couldn’t see clearly kept getting longer, she couldn’t possibly sleep twenty‑four hours a day. Feng Huaijin would find out sooner or later.
If anyone was to blame, it was Xu Xing, who still hadn’t shown up! She’d heard he was already back in Jiang City, had never even come to the hospital, and had gone straight back to Cloud Mist Mountain. Who knew what he was thinking?
Su Li was in the middle of fretting about her eyes when Feng Huaijin’s gentle voice came from above her head: "There’s a project at the company that I need to personally inspect. I’ll be back in at most two hours."
Ever since Feng Huaijin stayed up several nights in a row reading prenatal education books, he had been much gentler when talking to her.
Su Li waved her hand and said, "Go do your inspection, I’m fine here."
Feng Huaijin straightened the custom Givenchy suit on his body, his fingers lightly brushing his cufflinks. He walked out, gave a slight nod to the few black‑clad bodyguards, and then disappeared from Su Li’s line of sight.
Not long after, a strange nurse walked in and said to her gently, "Miss Su Li, two more days of this tocolytic drip and you’ll be done."
Su Li was holding a prenatal education book. She lifted her eyes for a glance and asked in some surprise, "Which nurse are you?"
The nurse assigned to her was the girl Xiao Heng called his goddess, and yet today someone else had shown up.
The nurse smiled and said, "Nurse Zhao had something to take care of and took a leave today. I’m the temporary nurse the head nurse assigned to handle your IV." As she spoke, she had already skillfully hung up the tocolytic infusion.
Su Li saw that the badge on the nurse’s chest did indeed say Jiangcheng City People’s Hospital, and her mind was put at ease.
The nurse left with the cart, still smiling, and not long after, Su Li, drowsy from reading, suddenly heard voices at the door, which instantly chased away all her sleepiness.
The black‑clad bodyguards at the door looked troubled as they faced the man in front of them. "Fourth Young Master, Mr. Qi has instructed that no one else is allowed to visit Miss Su Li."
Let alone that this Fourth Young Master and Mr. Qi had never gotten along; if anything happened, they couldn’t afford the responsibility.
Feng Ciye was holding a beautiful flower basket in his hand. Every stem inside had been carefully trimmed, each flower in full bloom, dew still clinging to the petals. It was clearly a piece of meticulous work.
