Chapter 505: E
Dawn was running calmly, and his eyes locked on Trevor and his lackeys. The ground was made with the standard length of four hundred meters to allow the children to experience real athleticism. If it were the old Dawn, he would have long fallen on his knees after the first warm-up session.
However, the people were shocked to see that not only was this guy moving calmly, he had yet to work up any sweat. Trevor was angry by this because he saw that Dawn was gaining popularity among his classmates. Trevor suffered from a critical superiority complex. He thought he was the best human being in the world.
A young man beside Trevor asked, "Boss, why does it feel like this guy has gotten stronger?"
Trevor gazed at him and spoke with a scowl, "Hamlet, you are very smart till you open your mouth. Shut up for me."
Hamlet flinched and said, "I will go and join the rest."
Trevor did not care about him and snorted while he glared at Dawn. Hamlet waited till he got out of earshot when another student asked him, "Why do you suck up to him when all he does is dish out insults?"
Hamlet snorted and said, "Do you think I want to deal with that twisted shit? My dad forced me because we rent one of the Hymn Shops."
The other person shook his head and remarked in a low voice, "I swear, in all these years of school, Dawn beating Trevor was my best moment."
Hamlet chuckled and replied, "Second best for me. The first is still the slap he got from Class Beauty on the orientation day."
The two joked about Trevor’s high opinion of himself and how he went up to propose to Grace, but his words enraged the class flower, and she slapped him across the face.
...
Saffron and Grace were helping each other with the stretches, and the latter asked, "Saffie, why do I feel that Simone is up to no good."
Saffie replied, "When was he ever up to any good, sweetheart? Don’t mind him, Dawn can feed them the bitter medicine."
She wished to see Dawn beating Trevor once with her own eyes. Trevor was one of the reasons why people bullied her and isolated her. She disliked him with a passion.
It was as if the heavens were favoring them. When Dawn finished his laps, there was still some time left in the class. Simone used a whistle to gather the students in the center of the ground and said, "In the coming weeks, most of you will go outside to attend college. This city is your home, so you all have grown accustomed to the comfort.
Similarly, the city is small, and there is little crime. So, I want to teach you some basic self-defense actions. It will help you all protect yourself from any ill-doers."
Saffron rolled her eyes as she exchanged gazes with Grace. Every student in the school hated Simone, and they thought he was probably looking for an excuse to beat them. Their class suffered because section (a) students were all wealthy heirs. Even Trevor did not dare to cross those people.
However, despite knowing that they were in for a beating, they could not protest. Dawn stood beside Grace, who nudged his elbow and whispered, "Don’t be afraid."
Dawn smiled and did not say anything. He could sense that she was concerned for him. Just as they expected, Simone said, "So, who among you would come forward for the demonstration?"
Trevor said, "Instructor, I would like to volunteer."
Simone nodded and then looked at the rest of the class. He said, "Dawn, you seem to have gotten stronger. Why don’t you pair up with Class Monitor Trevor?"
The students cast sorry gazes at him, but Dawn silently walked forward, ignoring the tug on his t-shirt. Saffron saw Grace trying to hold him back and whispered in her ear, "Don’t worry, they are incurring it upon themselves."
Grace was taken aback. She knew that Dawn was stronger, but the person against him was not a goon but a trained personnel. Simone was an army veteran capable of taking down the most ruthless enemies.
Dawn stood before Simone and looked him right in the eye. His back was straight, and his shoulders were square. His posture made the Instructor take half a step back. The intimidating sensation that Simone got from Dawn baffled him. He could not understand how this weakling did it.
Soon, he regained his composure. It took him a few seconds, but that was because Dawn had stopped looking into his eyes. Simone said, "Both of you face each other."
Dawn and Trevor stood opposite each other, and then Simone said, "Dawn, you can attack Trevor first; he will defend."
The people were surprised and did not expect Simone to give Dawn such a chance. Trevor smiled and said, "Remember one thing, Dawn, this is a demonstration."
Everyone realized that Dawn had been given the gun but had no bullets. The students wanted Dawn to beat Trevor, and brutally at that. Dawn did not reply to Trevor but nodded.
Simone gazed at them both and said, "Begin!"
The next moment, before Trevor even had the time to prepare himself, he blanked out. Then he came to the view of a clear sky. He looked at the side and saw all the students staring at him with wide eyes and mouths open.
He stared back at Dawn and found him standing simply while Simone was shocked. At this moment, it struck him that he had fallen to the ground. He tried to stand up, but he found that his whole body was numb. He was shocked and embarrassed, and then he glared at Dawn, who approached him and asked, "Class Monitor, do you need help standing up?"
Trevor was a hypocrite, and he valued his image more than anything. In his mind, he was the alpha wolf, and Dawn was the rabbit meant to die for him. How could he take help from his prey?
He looked at Simone and said, "Sir, he attacked me without giving me the chance. This is not fair. We were putting up a demonstration. How can you watch him do it?"
Simone gazed at Trevor and replied, "I am dealing with it. Now, if you could calm down, Mr. Hymn."
His words were calm, but the tone was firm. Simone looked at Dawn and asked, "Did you not hear when I told you that you are not to attack Trevor for real?"
Dawn nodded and replied, "I heard you clearly, Sir."
Simone nodded and asked, "Then why did you attack him?"
Dawn shook his head and said, "My punch did not hit him, Sir. The class monitor was so cool that he moved away quickly, but I was shocked by this, and I think my punch grazed his chin. Could that be a reason why he fell?"
He acted innocent, but at the crucial moment in his attack, Dawn changed the point of contact, and his fist grazed Trevor’s chin. He was not like the people in this world, and he had training in controlling his actions to the most minute level possible. Suppose he were to land a blow on Trevor’s face with his full strength. Trevor would have died from a cranial fracture.
Simone crouched next to Trevor and checked his condition. He said, "You will be fine in a bit."
Trevor was enraged, and it was obvious from his face. However, he still controlled his face contortion and said, "Alright, Sir, but the demonstration must continue."
Simone sighed and nodded. He waved for a student to help Trevor get aside and turned to Dawn, saying, "Now, I will help you with the demonstration; you will defend first. Okay?"
Dawn nodded with a plain expression. None of the students could tell if he was scared silly or did not care about the man-bear attacking him. That aside, they were all excited to see the action unfold.
Simone took his stance. He changed into an experienced fighter while Dawn took a deep breath and relaxed his body. The former did not give a signal and threw a punch at Dawn. The comparison by body made Dawn look small; everyone thought he would get a black eye. However, the young man leaned back slightly, and the fist flew past his nose by a few inches.
The crowd gasped in excitement. Simone was not surprised by this, and he stepped forward and began to throw all kinds of punches at Dawn. Grace’s forehead was covered with cold sweat. She was worried, and many times, she even wanted to rush over to drag Dawn. Saffron rolled her eyes as the camera on her phone recorded high-definition footage of the entire scene.
Dawn was like a swallow gliding across the ground. He evaded all the attacks thrown by the instructor. The students who were surprised earlier had grown numb from this display. They did not expect that not only was Dawn evading the monster they feared, but suddenly, he stopped retreating before ducking and stepping forward.
