Chapter 137: Chapter 98: I Can’t Give You Any Suitable Advice

SHHFFK!

The silver spear pierced through Meng Wei’s heart and embedded itself deep in the ground.

Pei Ze watched this scene with an indifferent gaze, his eyes betraying no emotion.

In the preceding battle, neither he nor Meng Wei had held back.

Both sides had been fighting to the death.

And so, even though Meng Wei had already been defeated, he had no intention of showing mercy.

WHOOSH!

The spear melted, turning into liquid metal that flowed back to Pei Ze’s side. But instead of forming a metal sphere, it morphed into a dense array of sharp cones, all aimed uniformly at a room’s exit in the middle of the corridor, poised to shoot.

"Wait! Wait!"

A voice suddenly called out. Xiao Xi emerged from the end of the corridor, her hands slightly raised to show she meant no harm.

"Don’t attack! I was just passing by and happened to see what was going on. I have no intention of being your enemy!"

Xiao Xi looked at Pei Ze with a wry smile, but inwardly, she felt as if she were facing a formidable foe.

She had been pursued by numerous participants and had fled here in a panic, only to stumble upon the battle between Pei Ze and Meng Wei.

Although she hadn’t seen the entire fight, she had gotten a crystal-clear view of the moment Pei Ze used his Witchcraft Artifact to defeat Meng Wei.

Xiao Xi’s own teacher was the dean of the Violet Academy, a status that allowed her to access more information than an ordinary Wizard Apprentice.

For instance, Witchcraft Artifacts.

An ordinary person would only know that the liquid silver metal was a Witchcraft Artifact, but she knew it was a top-tier Tier One Witchcraft Artifact called Silverstar.

Moreover, it had absorbed at least one metal combination; otherwise, its power couldn’t be this formidable.

’A Witchcraft Artifact like that, wielded by someone as unfathomably powerful as Pei Ze... if he really attacked me, I wouldn’t stand a chance.’

At this thought, Xiao Xi couldn’t help but cast a pitying glance at Meng Wei’s corpse on the ground.

’The guy just had bad luck.’

’He just had to run into a monster like Pei Ze.’

’If his initial target hadn’t been Pei Ze, but me or someone else, with his strength and an ace like the Bloodline Mark, getting a Rainbow Gemstone would have been a piece of cake.’

’Too bad there are no "what ifs" in this world.’

"Look, I still have my Rainbow Gemstone. I have no reason to move against you, right?"

Xiao Xi waved the Rainbow Gemstone in her hand, trying hard to show she was harmless.

Pei Ze gave her a deep look and recalled his Silverstar.

Seeing this, Xiao Xi let out a sigh of relief.

’If Pei Ze had really attacked her, her only choice would have been to give up the Rainbow Gemstone and teleport out of the maze.’

Just then, the sound of messy, hurried footsteps suddenly rang out.

A group of people suddenly burst out from around the corner at the end of the corridor.

There were seven of them, all dressed in leather armor under long robes.

Their gazes first roamed over Xiao Xi, then fell upon Pei Ze. Their eyes lit up in unison as excited smiles spread across their faces.

"Well, look at this. An unexpected bonus."

"That makes two Rainbow Gemstones for the taking."

"Everyone, we’ll fight for them. Whoever gets them, keeps them. Sound good?"

"Of course!"

Listening to their conversation, Xiao Xi glanced at the impassive Pei Ze, a strange expression on her face.

After a quick discussion, a burly man from the group of seven stepped forward, pointed at Pei Ze, and said, "Kid, hand over the Rainbow Gemstone..."

Before he could finish, a young man next to him suddenly lunged forward and clamped a hand over his companion’s mouth, cutting off the rest of his words.

"Mmph... Mmph!"

The burly man broke free from the young man’s grip and snapped angrily, "What the hell is wrong with you?"

The young man looked as if he had seen something terrifying. His earlier smile was long gone, replaced by a deathly pallor.

He whispered, "Look at the body on the ground!"

His strange behavior baffled everyone, including the burly man. They turned to look at the corpse at Pei Ze’s feet and only then realized the face looked somewhat familiar.

It looked like... Meng Wei?

Meng Wei!

A collective shiver ran through all of them, and their eyes flew wide open.

A dead silence instantly fell over the corridor.

After a long moment, the burly man broke the silence, forcing a smile uglier than a crying face as he looked at Pei Ze.

"S-Sorry, my lord. I was being an idiot. Please don’t mind me."

The others quickly chimed in.

"We didn’t mean any harm."

"We’ll get out of your way. We’re leaving now."

"Sorry to bother you."

Without waiting for Pei Ze’s response, the group turned and left in a frantic hurry.

To an uninformed observer, it would have looked as if some terrifying monster was chasing them from behind.

Xiao Xi watched them go, a scornful smirk playing on her lips.

’A bunch of bullies who only pick on the weak.’

’Just a moment ago, they were chasing her so aggressively. Now, facing Pei Ze, they’re so scared they’re turning tail and running like stray dogs.’

Still, she could understand their mindset.

Anyone who saw a Wizard Apprentice who had killed Meng Wei and emerged completely unscathed would probably be horrified.

Only a fool would fail to see how dangerous Pei Ze was.

Pei Ze paid no mind to the small-fry clowns. After finding a dimensional pouch on Meng Wei’s body, he turned and left.

Xiao Xi’s eyes flickered for a moment before she strode after him.

The seven who had been chasing her were quite strong. She wasn’t confident she could protect her Rainbow Gemstone if they ganged up on her, so she was better off following Pei Ze.

’As long as Pei Ze is around, those seven definitely won’t dare to make a move.’

Pei Ze glanced back at Xiao Xi. He knew exactly what she was planning but didn’t care. He simply found a room for himself, sat down, and waited for the trial to end.

Xiao Xi, in turn, found a clean spot outside the room and sat down.
