Chapter 111: Chapter 85: Who Else Is Qualified Besides Pei Ze?
Guan Ling began to explain excitedly, with Shao Hong chiming in from the side every now and then.
After hearing them out, Pei Ze finally understood.
Just as Gu Lin had said, Chenxi City and Red Lotus City planned to use three competitions to decide the final profit-sharing ratio for the development of a new plane.
Two of the rounds would feature Official Wizards as participants.
If that were all, the Wizard Apprentices wouldn’t have paid much attention.
After all, Official Wizards were a world away from them. At most, the competition would just be something to chat about after it was over.
The problem was, one of the rounds would actually feature Third-level Wizard Apprentices.
That’s what really got the Wizard Apprentices excited!
They had never imagined that one day, Wizard Apprentices like themselves could take part in something as significant as deciding how the profits from a plane were divided.
The moment the news broke, every Wizard Apprentice in Chenxi City was ecstatic.
The students of High Tower Academy were, of course, no exception.
And so, discussions about who would participate quickly swept through the entire academy.
"There will be a total of three Wizard Apprentices in the competition."
Guan Ling’s eyes lit up as she looked at Pei Ze, her expression filled with unconcealable excitement.
"A lot of people think you’re more than qualified to compete for a spot!"
"That’s right," Shao Hong added, nodding in earnest agreement.
They both meant what they said.
Pei Ze was the genius Wizard Apprentice who had killed two Legendary Knights in a single night. If he wasn’t qualified to compete for a spot, then who in High Tower Academy was?
Originally, there was also Yin Xue from the third year, but she had already been promoted to an Official Wizard and no longer met the requirements, so she was out of the running.
As for the other third-year students, forget killing a Legendary Knight; it would be a struggle just to find one who could hold their own against one. Naturally, they weren’t even considered.
When they thought about it, that only left Pei Ze.
That’s why, for the past two days, everyone at the academy had been discussing the possibility of Pei Ze joining the competition.
"So, what do you think, Pei Ze? Are you going to participate?" Guan Ling asked, her gaze full of anticipation.
Shao Hong also looked toward Pei Ze, filled with hope.
Pei Ze was a member of the Star Spirit Society, after all. If he really secured a spot and went on to win for Chenxi City, his reputation would skyrocket.
And their Star Spirit Society would become famous right along with him.
That way, they could definitely attract more Wizard Apprentices to their society when the new students enrolled next year.
"The competition, huh..."
Pei Ze’s expression flickered, but he quickly shook his head.
"We’ll see."
’It’s still unclear what the exact format of the competition will be, or what the rewards are. I can’t make a decision so easily.’
’I have to go see Teacher Mo Weng anyway. I might as well ask him about it then.’
Hearing Pei Ze’s response, Shao Hong and Guan Ling were both a little disappointed.
But they couldn’t press the issue, as it was ultimately Pei Ze’s decision.
After a bit more small talk, Pei Ze took the hint and parted ways with them, not wanting to be a third wheel.
「Medicine Garden No. 8.」
Pei Ze expertly made his way to Mo Weng’s potion lab, where he happened to find Yin Xue as well.
Spotting Pei Ze, Yin Xue said with a bright smile, "You’re just in time. We were just talking about you."
Pei Ze first greeted Mo Weng, then responded with a smile of his own. "Let me guess, it’s about the competition, isn’t it?"
Yin Xue laughed. "It seems you’ve heard. So, what do you think? Are you interested?"
Pei Ze gave a noncommittal smile, avoiding the question. Instead, he bowed slightly to Mo Weng and said, "Teacher, I’d like to ask for your guidance on something."
Mo Weng said calmly, "What is it?"
"Besides assistive potions like Li Xin Water, are there any other ways to increase the success rate of forming a Spirit Crystal?"
The moment he said this, Yin Xue froze.
Mo Weng was also taken aback for a moment. Then, his eyes suddenly lit up, and he sized Pei Ze up with a sharp gaze before asking in a low voice:
"You’ve met the requirements to form a Spirit Crystal?"
