Chapter 103: Chapter 103: Why Do You Demand I Improve Myself!

Ji Tian followed the direction Tan Xiaodie had given, heading towards the library, while Yu Chuang and the other two went to search the piano room and the bedroom.

The house had many rooms and many forks in the path; Ji Tian walked to the railing on the second floor, from which she could still see the situation on the first floor. The white shadow stood under the yellow-green light of the master of ceremonies, mechanically turning its head towards them.

Quan Jingyou’s face turned green; he quickly turned his head, not willing to look: “Is that Tan Xiaodie?”

From the figure alone, it did indeed resemble a woman’s figure, but it was all shrouded under a white cloth, and nothing could be seen.

Hearing this, Ji Tian nodded, “Yes, but he is a male.”

“…”

...

The library was not locked, and Ji Tian pushed the door open directly, stirring up a cloud of dust. She and Qin Jiangsheng immediately began to search for the box.

Quan Jingyou followed behind, seeing their figures disappear and quickened his pace, but almost tripped and fell. Fortunately, someone supported him; he stabilized himself and let out a sigh of relief: “Thank you, Sister Tian.”

What responded to him was silence; his body gradually stiffened, and turning his head, he saw a silver knight’s armor emitting a faint green glow from within.

“Ah!”

In panic, he ran blindly, bumping into a wall, touching a sticky warmth, “Ah! Help, save me, sob sob, what is this, Sister Tian! Sister Tian!”

Quan Jingyou stumbled around the corridor, unable to find Ji Tian’s direction, and even Yu Chuang and the others did not respond. The second floor of the castle had many corridors and many forks.

[Child, you’re running in the wrong direction…]

[Damn, the knight’s armor has a person inside, Quan Jingyou seems to have cried.]

[Help, so funny, the saying that happiness is built on someone else’s pain is really true.]

[Bloody hell… seeking psychological invisibility area, that painting’s face is moving… I’m already scared looking through the screen…]

In the library, Ji Tian heard his wailing; initially, she didn’t want to bother as he could run past the library’s entrance without even looking back, getting lost even when being right next to them amazed her.

Only when his cries became distant did Ji Tian stand up, “Open this second box, I’ll go find him and bring him back.”

Qin Jiangsheng nodded. Besides this box, they had found a jigsaw puzzle; solving it would reveal the password for the box.

Following the sound, Ji Tian quickly located the cinema room in the opposite direction of the library; the door was open, it seemed he had run in there. Quan Jingyou stood still, staring at the screen which was showing not exactly a ghost film, but possibly Tan Xiaodie’s autobiography. Yet, with the eerie music, and the hellish lighting in the room, it was undeniably like watching a ghost film.

Hearing movement behind him, Quan Jingyou jumped like a startled bird, seeing Ji Tian as if he had seen his own dear father.

“Sweet Dad… spit, Sister Tian, you finally came.” Quan Jingyou misspoke ‘sister’ as ‘dad’, Ji Tian almost responded, but fearing Uncle Quan’s wrath, she lightly coughed, pretending not to hear, “Eh? How did you end up here? You’re going completely the wrong way, finding us would indeed be a miracle.”

Mentioning ghosts, Quan Jingyou’s face turned pale again: “There are ghosts in the corridors outside, and in the walls, even warm ghosts.”

Ji Tian: “… Silly child.”

She looked at the image projected by the projector, which documented Tan Xiaodie’s life with her family, her later meeting with a boyfriend, seeking her family’s approval, and finally entering the hall of marriage with her lover. Suddenly, the screen splattered with blood, the crowd panicked and scattered, and Tan Xiaodie’s family members rushed to her front, some calling the police and others calling for an ambulance.

Under the chairs of the guests in the front row, a gun was kicked out by the panicked crowd.

Ji Tian immediately pressed stop, and the image froze on the gun.

Ji Tian then quickly switched the image back to Tan Xiaodie’s family’s position and discovered that the gun had appeared right where the second brother was seated, with the eldest brother sitting on his left and his second sister on his right, and the eldest sister sitting behind.

Then, Ji Tian continued to look further back, carefully observing every person’s expression in attendance.

“Damn, this is a murder case, and the killer is one of this Xiaodie’s family members? Siblings killing their own sister over inheritance? That’s just melodramatic,” Quan Jingyou couldn’t help but speak out, feeling less afraid because Ji Tian was there, and he began to deduce, “I think it’s the second brother. He must have hidden the gun under the seat, just didn’t expect it to be kicked out.”

“The box opened.” Qin Jiangsheng walked in from behind, “The puzzle completed is the second brother’s confession, and there’s a quarter of a map in the box.”

“Ah, you all are here? I found box number three and a half-burned property deed,” Yu Chuang also entered, his face beaming with a forced smile, followed by Wen Jiangxue and He Chenxi, one nonchalant and the other distracted.

His heart was fuming, all the while restraining himself, everything tossed at him to handle, none showing any ambition. He chanted to himself again, “Persona, persona; once I blow up, to hell with this sorry persona.”

He really wanted to ride this event’s hype to regain fame!

[Ding Ding Ding, detection of severe negative thoughts surrounding the Host, please treat work seriously, do not engage in passive negligence, or stagnate.]

Ji Tian: “…”

How dare this lousy system criticize her?

Whom are they calling passive? Barely working half an hour a day, fearing that she’d call on it, hiding like a rat.

“Humph,” she scoffed coldly, “Where’s your report button? Look at your system’s name; what right do you have to demand me to be ambitious and undertake tasks?”

King of Competition: […]

It pondered, just when Ji Tian thought it finally felt shame, believing it wasn’t worth much, it lifted its egg-like head.

The short hands touching an invisible chin: [You’re right, so, my existence is quite unreasonable. How about this, five years later, why don’t we go to jail? It includes food and accommodation, allows daily physical exercise, reading, and writing to cultivate sentiments and contributes to the country’s knitting and shoe industries, the best place for slackers.]

Ji Tian’s temples throbbed; was this damn egg threatening her?

Suddenly, a small piece of its eggshell cracked and fell off: [Ding Ding Ding, abnormal magnetic fields detected nearby, please urge the Host to upgrade to level two and claim the Skill.]

King of Competition picked up the eggshell piece and found some double-sided tape from somewhere, sticking it right back on.

Looking at its battered state, Ji Tian couldn’t help but ask, “Are you okay? Why do you look like you’re going to break down before me?”

King of Competition: […Don’t curse me; systems don’t die.]

“Can you lead me to the exit?” At this moment, Ji Tian just wanted to complete this escape room game and get the mysterious reward Yan Ming mentioned.

King·Utterly·Useless·Competition: [Sorry, this system hasn’t developed a pathfinding feature yet, you’re on your own.]
