Chapter 2077: Another Level 40
After this, most of the level 20s managed to get a kilo under their belt, and it was only then that the powerhouses began killing as well.
They were training, yes, but the purpose of the trip was a mission so they naturally couldn’t spend too much time on it.
The rule of thumb was only one hour per hundred, assuming the levels were doable. The consumables consumed must also be minimal, if not none.
Beyond this, their powerhouses would move to clean up the field so they could finally move on.
With Althea’s help, this didn’t happen. They really finished this mob within the timeframe and more efficiently, and the group finally moved further East.
They encountered similar or smaller mobs for the next hour. During this time, Althea had really showed off her prowess.
The strength she showed was impressive for a woman, but beyond that it was the multitude of techniques and strategies she employed that made the killings take much less effort that needed.
Not to mention, they found out she was a triple elementalist! What kind of concept was that?!
Even in the city, dual elementalists were rare! If they were skilled, they were practically worshiped!
As such, a few hours after they departed from Warrior City, Althea had become one of the more impressive comrades in their eyes!
....
ROAAARRR!
The first major challenge found them a few hours away from the City.
The mob comprised of hundreds of monsters around level 20 and below and a dozen level 30 monsters led by a level 40 beast!
Even city-level folk would feel terrified when seeing this, especially out in the open and without the protection of the people walls and sentries.
It was like a behemoth and his strong and big minions was ready to crush you and divide your body parts to bits. Meeting their blood-crazed eyes made them feel like they could see their own deaths.
Fortunately, most of the people in this team were strong and had good foundation. With them at the vanguard, those behind calmed themselves down.
They had pre-divided teams beforehand, especially depending on the situation, and people immediately began to deal with the monsters as needed.
The ’super’ monsters definitely had to be separated and isolated from the rest. Its power was no joke, and so was the collateral damage.
If human powerhouses battling had to have tens of meters cleared out, this rule applied even more so against monsters that did not have any consideration for allies.
Even if it were their own minion, they could easily step on it if it were on the way.
Beru and Virion went to take on the level 40 monster, Garan took the next one at mid level 30, while Althea teamed up with a few people to deal with the other level 30.
As for the mob, the rest could handle them.
The level 42 monster this time was called the Varkhazar, which was a quadripedal beast several meters high. It had three horns slightly curved forward with a flat monstrous face and strong jaws that could give people nightmares just at the sight of it.
ROOOOAARRR!
The Varkhazar attacked using the force of its body as well as its strong jaw. It could easy crush a large rock as if it were tofu.
If there were rocks that could handle its large jaws, it would only be those ranked high up in the moh’s scale or those created by earth elementalists not far from its level.
ROAAARR!
BAM!
Beru met up with its charging body with his own. His large hands grabbed the tip of its horns.
The bear orc’s whole body slipped several meters back at the moment of impact, but he managed to hold his ground.
At least for a few seconds.
This was already very impressive. For one, beasts were just stronger in general.
Another, the monster was higher in level than Beru, which meant far more than facing humans or fellow half-rocs.
Virion appeared behind him, standing still on one of the branches. Beru limited its movements while Virion was set to attack.
Virion’s damage ability was far stronger than others, even those several levels above him.
At this time, the redhead’s dominant arm was slightly stretched forward, fingers together and aligned vertically to the ground.
He had no concept of guns, but his stance was like making a palm gun. His ability shot out like a laser, hitting the monster smack at the face.
Zap!
ROOOARRR!
The beast screamed as it bled, the deep gash on its face causing it to go berserk.
Fortunately, their fight was taken elsewhere, otherwise who knew how many of their teammates might have been crushed.
"More!" Beru yelled, activating his skill. He knew the cool down of Virion’s skills, so he timed the use of his own well.
Beru’s innate ability was the [Ironhide Fur]. Basically, he was impenetrable for about half an hour. The catch was that it needed a whole day to recover.
Monsters around level 40 were not common and were even actively hunted down by their city’s powerhouse, so he judged it wouldn’t be a waste to use now.
This mob certainly wasn’t weak. If he dared hold back, he’d be greeted by injuries. And that would already be a good output.
Virion continued to shoot his ability as soon as it regenerated. Each shot was penetrating, but sadly monsters didn’t act like they knew pain and would thoughtlessly keep attacking regardless of whether they were impaled or not.
Meanwhile, Beru’s ability was still active and he continued to control the monster’s movement while landing punches on areas Virion had punctured.
Further, when it roared, some of the mobs would get attracted to their area, adding a bit more difficulty.
Zap!
Zap!
After a few shots it was still standing, and Virion’s lips twitched.
This is getting annoying.
His eyes twitched when Beru was thrown tens of meters away and high up. Fortunately, his ability was still active so he was unharmed when he landed.
However, this made Virion’s accuracy was greatly reduced.
Unexpectedly, ice spikes flew over and landed near the monster’s feet. From there, ice spread out from the ground and encasing the monster’s feet. Even if it was just a few seconds, it was already indicative of the ice’s quality.
Virion’s eyebrows rose, and he didn’t pause, immediately shooting lasers, eventually taking it down.
He gave Garan a deep look.
What to do? He wanted to spar with him even more
